Part one of my full CGI short film series. Stay tuned for the next parts. It was very hard working, because the story, I was thinking about, wasn´t matching.... It took so much more time, than I was expecting.... Well, every detail you are watching in this part, was made in Blender and composed in DaVinci Resolve. Hi 👋 does increasing ram increase render speed in blender in cycles??
Great stuff, dude!💪

how to select edges???
Simple, press LMB
Hello. I was trying to make a black hole with your tutorial, but unfortunately I couldn’t.. Could you please make a new video tutorial of making a black hole. My problem is that I can’t place a background and the second sphere was just grey and that’s it 😢
THIS IS INCREDIBLE! Thankyou David!
can you make black hole 2024 blender plz my black hole isn't working
Thanks Bro you saved alot of time!
By far the best rendering method of blender in yt
why my light dots are way bigger than yours?
@@shane19966 multiple reasons: Brighter light source Higher values in your node structure Different calculation due different blender versions And probably some more reasons I don't even know xD
Clickbait, bridge in 3 minute. After one thousand cuts in the video CONGRATULATIONS HERE'S YOUR BRIDGE
If you consider your laptop with an RTX 2080 and 32GB of RAM and 6GB of VRAM a potato PC, then I don't know what my laptop is.
I have a Ryzen 3 with iGPU
Just make it with fast settings then put the video through a video enhancer like Real ESRGAN.
Can you help me choose between the RX 7800 XT and the RTX 4070? I'll be using it for gaming and game development in Unreal Engine 5. I'm a beginner with 3D games and modeling (creating characters, environments, etc.), and I'm unsure which one to pick. The 16GB VRAM on the 7800 XT seems great for future-proofing, but if I use ray tracing at a medium level while making games, would it be able to handle it? I’ll also be using Blender for creating environments and characters, and I don’t mind if AMD has slower rendering speeds compared to NVIDIA, as long as it’s not too slow. Just feeling a bit confused about which one would be better overall
blender version? mine disk just look like a normal disk not going in top of sphere like yours
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! i try all the other people setting and try to tweak but still not work, but this time I try to follow u, n it take me one minute for single image!!!!! My work became easy thanks for your video!
what do you think of the new EVEE?
bro i have a laptop with 8 gb ram i am quitting blender
🤣
DON'T DO THIS. While it renders extremely fast, I tried this, and it ended up terribly. When you set your noise threshold so high, the denoiser is doing the heavy lifting for the image itself. It may look okay on a still frame or with really dark lighting like in this video, but even in this video if you look closer, you will notice an insane amount of flickering and random noise thanks to the denoiser not having enough information to render a series of images consistently. The way it works is that the noise threshold dictates to the render engine when it's okay to stop rendering more detail. The lower the threshhold, the higher the detail. If you set it to 1.0, the rendering is basically doing the least amount of work and relying heavily on the denoiser. This leads to inconsistencies between each frame as the lack of detail causes the denoiser to not be accurate during the denoising process. This results in shadows and highlights that have a rapid shimmery/flickering movement to them, which looks really bad, especially in well lit environments. Take, for instance, this shot at 0:17 If you look at the building on the other side of the explosion, the reflection of the fire boils and flickers like crazy. The only reason this is not instantly noticeable in this video is because it's very dark, and most of the scenes have a lot of movement. The second you look closer, though, every image is litered with this sort of ugly artifacting. What this guy did is that for some reason, he turned off the denoiser druing the lower threshold segements in order to make his point across. Only once he put the noise threshold to 1.0, he turned the denoiser on to show how good it looked. You are way better off setting the noise threshold to 0.1. It doesn't look bad, like he said. If anything, this looks fucking horrible and it's honestly shameful that he didn't tell people this before showing this MAGICAL trick which is not magical at all.
render kese kre ye bata de bhai please nashi ho raha hai only poster arha hai building nahi arhi hai
It only decreased my render time by a minute😭😭😭😭
Nvm it added 5 hours to one frame😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Idk what you have done xD
Cycles cannot directly be compared to Lumen. Cycles is Blender's path tracing engine. It is physically accurate and must therefore be compared to Unreal Engine's Path Tracer, which is also physically accurate. Lumen is a faster renderer for scenes where accuracy is not the highest priority.
Making animation:- 1 Hour rendering and converting in video: 25 hours
Thanks for the tips. Another way how to reduce render times with volumetric lights is to render them to a separate layer and add them to the final image using the compositor. This way one can use a lower sample count without the image becoming too noisy. It also enables applying blur to the volumetric layer to further reduce noise without affecting the rest of the image.
Hi! I really needed this comment! Do you perhaps, have a link on how to do this? I'm new to Blender.
@@ulrika8198 Hi. For a tutorial on using layers you can look up "How to Render with View Layers in Blender" on UA-cam. As for using layers to render volumetric lights, I don't really have a tutorial, as it is something I mostly figured out via trial and error. But here is what I would usually do: 1. copy all scene objects that have to cast shadows into a new view layer 2. create a new "holdout" material and apply it to all objects in the new view layer. This will make sure that only the volumetric light gets rendered. 3. in the "Render Properties" tab set "transparent" under "Film" to make sure that the background is rendered as transparent 4. for the main view layer go to the "view layer" tab and under Pases>Light>Other tick the check box next to "Environment" to make sure the environment/background pass gets rendered 5. in the compositor combine the "Image" and "Environment" outputs of the main view layer using an "alpha over" node 6. in the compositor combine the output of the "alpha over" node from the previous step with the "image" output of the volumetric light layer using a Mix color->Add node. Tweak the factor to change intensity of light effect. 7. optionally add a blur node between the "alpha over" and "mix color" nodes from the following step, if the volumetric light pass is too noisy
All the nasa website has is a bunch of articles EDIT: I found the image through google image search. Now I just need to make the disk part brighter, but not sure what to change.
The image is a mixture of multiple layers from the nasa website. Stars, fog, background noises and so on. I did some adjustments and layering to get what you can see in this video. Photoshop, gimp or other editing software for images , doesnt matter, all should work fine for this.
one thing i hate in unreal is.... the compiling shaders😭😭
09:03As you can see camera was smooth and static how did you add shake only while cars passed

Awesome tutorial, when can we expect the next part?
Thx, but idk. I lost all my data because of bad syncing with one drive after I disabled my subscription xD And the effort compered to the resonance of yt was quite bad. So iam not sure if I will take the time to "re-do" it just to finish this planed series.

Amazing, can you share the City you used in the video? I searched a lot but couldn't find a city model...
I created this city from multiple assets, Quixel Bridge etc
@@davidkohlmann I'm quite new to Blender and I'm very inexperienced in creating cities... If this city is open to sharing, can you share the Blender file? If you used anything paid I can buy them.
BRO!!! You saved me!
Amazing video! 🤩 I especially love the look of the headlights and taillights. How did you get them to look so realistic with the lens flare and lighting? Did you use materials with a high emission value and then composited it in Blender with some Glare nodes?
The lens flare is from UE. And you are right, I mixed emissive materials with lights for the cone and animated it.
The node setup isn't working for me in 4.2 :( Some nodes have changed but idk what the issue is it's not working for me it's just clear
Since 4.0 the shading layout changed in blender. But it's still working.
Hello David. Like your video. I have a scene setup where there is a school and bunch of of kids that is running great in realtime but when going to render (not raytrace) that what would be coming all aliased , after adding AA the render time is shoot up more than a min. Could you suggest something pls. Thanx.
@@amynfarooqui to help you I need a bit more information. How are you rendering and which setting are you using?
Could you or do you have any tips for EEvEE?
Use unreal engine if you need realtime rendering. Even eevee next is not even close to what unreal does. If you still want to stick with eevee reduce as much scene loading as possible (texture, modifier loading etc) Everything that leads to performance issues in cycles, does the same in eevee and/or causes in longer built/rendertime. Bake your lights if you can, especially for animations. Don't increase shadow quality unless it's not absolutely needed. And yea
@@davidkohlmann I only knew abt unreal engine when my animation was 50% rendered (I'm new to this). the only thing I knew I could do was the shadows thing, thx for the tips
You can use USD workflow to get even better setup speed!
danke
Why is it still such a pain to upload FBX files to unreal engine?WTF :D I'd rather stick with blender cycles render
Thank you very much.
thanks so luch for this was looking for a good explanation....so i have to bring in my render layers ?
This helped a lot, it took rendering time for an image from 3 minutes down to 1! And I'm rendering on a chromebook.
Using unreal almost 2 year ..not a single development for animation, import export, audio lip sync sk, metahuman takes too much time for download, unreal engine take whole day makee 5 or 5 scene with animation coz it ll keep compiling shader ,USD format not working properly, live link method is waste of time ,there is also nanite take more memory ,little changes and you ll get streaming pool size over ,and not the least video out of memory ..so i m advice is dont use unreal engine if you are indie artist, .. stick with your proper 3d software.. participate in art competition sell your model and earn little money and build your potato pc to beast pc ..your ll love blender . Coz i can do almost everything.. sculpting, modeling, editing, composition, simulation, geometry nodes there ..( if you guys like simulation then use Houdini its cheap compare to those simulation addon combine prices )
Thank you!
Amazing brooooo you just saved my life.Thxxx
