There Can't be Pirates without Captain Jack
Pirates of the Caribbean can't exist without Captain Jack Sparrow. With Disney developing Pirates 6 without Jack, it's the perfect time to look at the development of the character. Johnny Depp played a huge part in making Jack unique. From improvised dialogue to the walk. Depp made Jack a cinematic iconic.
Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man's Chest, At World's End, even On Stranger tides all feel special because of Jack.
Sure, you could make a movie about Elizabeth Swan, Will Turner and their kid, but it just wouldn't be the same without Captain Jack. The same goes for the Margot Robbie Pirates movie in development.
Thanks to everyone who watched my video on why the first Pirates trilogy is underrated!

Marvel is at its Breaking Point
Переглядів 2,2 тис.Рік тому
With Thor Love and Thunder and She Hulk being the latest disappointments in the Marvel lineup I knew it was time to look at what is going wrong with Marvel in Phase 4. So, I started a rewatch of the Infinity Saga from Iron Man to Spider-Man Far from Home. Along the way I was surprised that movies like Iron Man 2 and Captain America the First Avenger held up so well! As I continued to watch some...
Why Pirates of the Caribbean is the Most UNDERRATED Trilogy (Video Essay)
Переглядів 451 тис.2 роки тому
The Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy is the most underrated trilogy I've seen. After watching it again, I was surprised by how much I loved it, especially Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. The Curse of the Black Pearl made sense because it is the most praised, but I think Dead Man’s Chest and At World’s End deserve more respect. Considering the negative critical reaction to those movies, thi...
Moon Knight and the Disney Plus Problem

Time for a late Moon Knight Review! Despite limitations from being forced to wrap everything up in episode 6, Moon Knight was able to pull off the ending in ep. And it had a crazy finale! Marc Spector, Steven Grant, and Layla finally teamed up against Ethan Hawke’s giant crocodile. Honestly, Oscar Isaac’s performance elevated the entire show, making it my favorite of the Marvel Disney Plus seri...
THIS is Why Netflix is Dying
Переглядів 6442 роки тому
Netflix is dying. With the future of Netflix in question after the quarterly earnings report, we’re going over the rise and the fall of Netflix, from sending DVDs in 1997 to losing $57 billion in 2022. In the beginning, Netflix served as a disruption to Blockbuster’s empire through it’s affordable DVD rentals. A few years later, streaming allowed customers to watch Netflix at the press of a but...
How to Break the Curse on Video Game Movies
Переглядів 6662 роки тому
With Sonic the Hedgehog 2 out, let’s look at the history of why video game movies are bad (usually) and how it could change. Uncharted, Tomb Raider, Assassin’s Creed, Warcraft, Prince of Persia; I was disappointed every time one of my favorite franchises finally got an adaption. But now, Sonic, Halo, Tomb Raider (2018), and Rampage are pushing the boundaries by being just ok. There is still hop...
Is Spider-Man: No Way Home Really THAT Good?
Переглядів 2742 роки тому
Is Spider-Man: No Way Home Overrated? With the Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield versions of Spider-Man together is that even possible? In this No Way Home review, we will go over why I felt the movie was a little disappointing. Is it overrated? I don't think so. But I did find the humor to be a little subpar in the first half. That's not to mention how overstuffed the movie can f...
Batman Begins is the Best Batman Movie
Переглядів 4582 роки тому
With the Release of The Batman, we are looking back at Batman Begins. This movie was the first in the Dark Knight Trilogy and introduced really awesome live action versions of Scarecrow and Ra’s al Ghul. Plus, I remember absolutely loving Christian Bale as Batman as a kid, so I look forward to seeing how he compares to Ben Affleck and Robert Pattison. I would say that this movie really set a co...
Everything You Should Know Before Watching THE BATMAN

With The Batman releasing soon, it is a perfect time to go recap everything we know about the movie. We will look at how the movie fits into the DCEU, the dark and gritty story inspired by the Dark Knight Trilogy, The Batmobile, The Batsuit, and everything else about Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne. Plus, we’ll discuss all the villains, including Catwoman, The Riddler, The Penguin. And, how we ...
Was the Book of Boba Fett Worth it?

The Book of Boba Fett has wrapped up with episode seven and it was a definite drop in quality from The Mandalorian, except when it WAS The Mandalorian! Warning! This review contains SPOILERS I was shocked when the Mandalorian took over the show from Boba Fett! How Eternals FAILED its Characters (Video Essay)
Переглядів 3762 роки тому
Unfortunately, Eternals doesn't handle its characters as well as Avengers Endgame, Infinity War, Captain America Civil War, or even the original Avengers. With a Rotten Tomatoes score of just 48%, it became the first 'rotten' MCU movie. In a lot of ways, it has the same issues that DC movies like Batman V Superman had - focusing on plot instead of characters. This video essay gives an explanati...

Dead Mans Chest, uses the Empire Strikes Back model... The good guys lose... At the end: Jack is dead (not sure if going to the locker bypasses death, beyond death?), the Pearl is gone, the heart (the whole purpose of this movies' journey) is gone, the crew has been decimated down to 6-8 people... It took the whole happy good vibe feeling of the first movie and turned it on it's head... Yes there is silliness throughout, but the overall feel is a lot heavier...

Another unsung hero that goes unrecognized is the actual composer of the Pirates theme and overall score that defined the rest of the movies was Klaus Badelt. His original pirates score still holds up and is among some of the greatest compositions in cinema.

I'm afraid nothing will compare to the first POTC in my opinion. It just captures every aspect of everything I love in a movie/story, and the pirate theme seems to be lacking these days. But I'm a pretty biased person obviously lol *edit -- and 100%, johnny depp always makes a movie feel more alive

" 10 years, I devoted to the duty you charged me. 10 years I looked after those who died at see, and finally, when we could be together again, you weren't there. Why weren't you there? " That still remains one of my favorite movie lines out of any movie I have seen

Look, we all know that there's no way to do a POTC movie without Sparrow... But can I just say that it was a miracle Eisner was converted to the film by Verbinski's choice to turn it into a swashbuckling fantasy? No joke, fantasy movies were the rage in the late 1990s and early-mid 2000s between The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Star Wars prequels, and Harry Potter's ever popular film career. The choice to turn Curse of the Black Pearl from a typical action-adventure to a fantasy practically paved the way for Jack to be the uber-smart, yet funny character he is.

I believe Amber Turd is to blame for this. Right around the 4th PoTC film, she came out with her false accusations, and so, it is crystal clear that they were desperate to make Jack's character hateable, especially in the 5th, so that they can just drop Depp. Otherwise, every bit of Jack in his true flesh was just fantastic. I want to rewatch these movies just for the iconic Jack Sparrow moments like the Bootleg Turn in the last movie, or the "does he plan it out, or make it up as he goes" moments, or even the pretty wonderful history in the 4th Film

I adore this trilogy, and am SO excited to introduce my wife to it on a weekend where we can do all three. There are so many reasons to love it, but I especially love how it perfectly encapsulates the shifting participation with, and visibility of, the non-physical ("spiritual"/"mythological" bleh terms). The mysterious things that our empirical materialist positivist epistemologies can't account for - the spooky things that every human has experienced. As they say in the final movie, the world is smaller without us experiencing it.

Never watched them. And your explanation that CGI is minimal has me at the door wanting to get in. Do you think Hollywood has the message that CGI is not the way forwards yet??? F*cking Dial Of Destiny Man... WTF WAS that..? A cartoon basically. And they made an octogenarian do that shit.

When I was a kid, I was in the Caribbean with my family on a yacht. One day on the horizon we saw a real old school pirate ship flying a real pirate flag. I cannot describe the fear/excitement I felt. We ended up sailing by and seeing a film crew on there. So I guess my family weren’t as scared as I was. Jump forward a bit into the future and I saw Pirates of the Caribbean and actually saw the coast line we passed them on. It dawned on me that was what we had seen that day. One of the coolest moments of my life lol.

These trilogy is perfect because they first paint the picture to the world, and jack sparrow actions and mindset. No one know how sane Jack is even himself. Then starting the the world First part being the English civilized world then the fairytale pirate world (that every boy growing up wanted to be in). Then adds all the fairytales that sailors tell you so you stay away from the ocean. Along with some of the best picture you could ask for
