Really really enjoyed your review and ended up liking most of the albums mentioned. I've yet to complete the video and listen to your top 3. Especially liked the Jon Batiste album. His versions of Für Elise and the 5th Symphony are so interesting! Thanks for sharing ❤
What a cool video! 75 was 7 yrs before I came around but it sure is fantastic seeing so much great music at that time period! New sub btw! I do a small channel talking abut some of my records. Nothing like sitting down and listening to a good record 😃👍
Thanks! Appreciate the sub too 😊
I think she's very skilled, and her "flawed" style of allowing notes to be imperfect just sounds so beautiful to me.
She is to fast for me. What artist is it?
This career trajectory is a lot like that of Vashti Bunyan. If any if y'all want some goooood 70's folk, try *Vashti Bunyan* ♥️♾️
i was 10 years old back then i do rember some of albums you taiking about
😊
Thanks for your channel Katie. Love your style, descriptions & wide tastes. Thanks for the Spotify list. I’m going to follow up Decemberists, Fanning Dempsey & Wunderhorse. Already love Jack White & Amyl & The Sniffers.
Great overview of albums that perhaps should have a wider audience listening, but alas most will only listen to familiar ditties. Nice sharing your perspective I will look into picking some of these up
Thanks!
Linda Ronstadt is my all time favorite.
Yay!! I’m collecting her entire catalog and almost there
A very fine year indeed! Great to see Joni and Patti there as they would be my top two. Blood on the Tracks after that, I guess - one of Dylan's best. Speaking of Bob, Joan Baez's Diamonds and Rust came out the same year. And gotta give some love to the Queen of Mope: Janis Ian's Between the Lines (the one with 'At Seventeen' on it).
I had Janis Ian out to do but in the end had to cull. Part 2 for sure will feature that.
Saw ABBA at the SCG in the 70s. Pouring rain. And yes, it was one of my 1st albums! I think these were also from that time.... Wish You Were Here Rocky Horror Show ( I had the Australian Cast Album with Reg Livermore ) Venus and Mars T.N.T. Desolation Boulevard (Sweet ) A Trick of the Tail (Genesis) 😁🤷♂️
Fun!! So lucky you saw ABBA!!
The Original Soundtrack by 10cc deserves an honorable mention.
Sure does😊
Sooooo jealous
Laura Nyro was an enigma. A brilliant song writer and a superb singer and in December 1969 three of her pieces made the Billboard Top Ten, an incredible achievement for someone so young. As well at one time she was drop dead gorgeous. Television, Hollywood and Broadway all wanted her but she turned them all down. Instead when she turned 24, disgusted by the whole music industry she just walked away. She would make a few comebacks but would soon after return to her hideout in the Connecticut woods until she passed away in April 1997. She was only 49 years old. Still had a lot of music in her.
Enigma is a good word
Acca Dacca - that's a new one for me brilliant. Love your channel subscribed peace from Scotland 🏴
Aussie speak
Bill Cosby was a part owner of Tetragrammaton. They were Deep Purple’s US label, which is why you could only ever get low quality boots of the Rod Evans era albums after it folded.
I couldn't bring myself to name that man :( UGH!
This list confirms my belief that Queen are the rock band for people who don't like rock music!!! I note the absence of 1975's BEST album which is Black Sabbath's "Sabotage". THIS album was NEVER going to be on THIS list, was it!!!!
No. But I promise I will at least listen to it. 😂😂
@@cordesrecords If you do listen to "Sabotage" then let me recommend that you start with the songs "The Writ" or "Meglomania" Best regards
It is Orange Twin, and the Elephant 6 collective - who have a book and feature length documentary about them - also, its pretty easy to look up the Billboard charts. Heartfelt tribute which obviously worked to bring attention where it is deserved, but kinda long and rambling with no so much research?
Thanks for your comments. It was just an intro really - not an indepth. I am totally long and rambling kind of girl! BUT - thanks for watching regardless. :)
WHO By Numbers, one of my Favourites From 75'..
That’s a great pick. I didnt even consider that.
Uriah Heep Return to Fantasy, Renaissance Sheherazade And Other Short Stories.
😊
Very cool group of records, 75 was a great year, I discovered Elton John, Queen, KISS and many others so much great music on the radio, thanks for sharing have a great year!
So so good! 😊
Completely on point w yacht rock. Donald Fagen told them to fu** off
Again, thank you. My first dive into Joni was Aisles of Miles, then Hejira, which is probably my favorite.✨🕯️🎶
Good choice!
Good to meet you. Enjoyed!✨🕯️🎶
Thank you 😊
I remember Sherbet having a hit in Ireland not sure if it was 75 maybe earlier or later. If memory serves I believe it was called How's That..
Hozat!
@@cordesrecords I remembered that spelling as soon as I saw it..😄
Wonderful tribute to this great artist, so sadly unheard of by most people today, but her work should be heard - it's so stunningly brilliant. Thank you.
Couldn't agree more!
Mental Notes is a great album. Also great call on Andrew Gold. Pub quiz points if you can name his Mum. 😊
😮 (googling)
Andrew Gold - best known for 2 tremendous songs. “Thank you for being a friend” & “Lonely Boy”
And actually not two of his best ? IMO 😂
@@cordesrecords I've just been going through a rediscovery of Andrew Gold and Dean Friedman. How Can This Be Love is a great AG song, but it's not from 1975. What a year, but my God, crazy that it was 50 years ago now!!
You're absolutely correct! I was in my late 20s-early 30s during the '70s and have often said that was THE best and DEFINITIVE period of rock/pop (top 40?) and other music for the masses. I say it that way only because I also listen to a LOT of Classical & Jazz which many/most people do not. Though it's just a little earlier (1969), I recently got a new AAA pressing of Crosby, Stills & Nash.
Nice!!😊
Saw Split Enz at the Bottom Line in New York and own EVERYTHING they've released!
You and I could be friends !! I’m very jealous.
I convinced Steve Hackett to leave Genesis over dinner in 1977 and urged him to continue in his style. Also, Warrior On the Edge of Time by Hawkwind blows away many '75 releases.
I need to listen to Hawkwind. And that first statement 😮
NEVER HEARD THAT BAND FROM AUSTRALIA SHERVETE I AM FROM CANADA
Check them out.😊
lots of good albums in 1975...none equal to Keith Jarrett - The Koln Concert.
It’s truly one of the great live jazz albums. I looked for it , but I think I sold my battered copy and never replaced it. Which now needs to be rectified. For the vocal grunting alone 😂
As a 14 year old in 1975, two of my favourites that year were Skyhooks' ' Ego is not a Dirty Word' and Alice Cooper's 'Welcome to my Nightmare'. Thanks for sharing your favourites.
Aaaah Skyhooks!!! Of course!
A great queen albums
😊
The 'Hissing of Summer Lawns' is one of my favourite albums from any year.
😊 Excellent choice.
At times she reminds me of Kate & Anna McGarrigle. That's a compliment. Thanks for the video ❤
Oh that’s interesting. I love Kate & Anna McGarrigal. I need to listen with that in mind
Tommy the Movie...Soundtrack. Thelma Houston and Pressure Cooker. "I've Got the Music in Me" Sheffield Lab. Direct to Disc Recording.
Great suggestions!
Great picks, and a cool idea for a video as we start 2025. Your channel is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Your enthusiasm really comes through in your videos. I found a good copy of The Bee Gees’ “Main Course” a couple of years ago. It was after that most recent documentary was released, and I became obsessed with the song ‘Wind of Change’ as it was featured prominently in that film. That song is an absolute gem. It’s a funky pre-disco number that points in the direction they would head in just a few years minus the abundance of falsetto.
Thanks so much Aron! And you are 💯 on the Bee Gees album. Such a sign of great disco things to come!’😊
Some to consider for part 2 Richard and Linda Thompson- Pour down like silver The Band - Southern cross, northern lights Tony Bennett and Bill Evan Tomita - pictures at an Exhibition Wayne Shorter - Native dancer 10cc - The original soundtrack Tangerine Dream - Rubicon Bob Marley - Live (could be featured in your live episode) Keith Jarrett - The Koln concert Skyhooks- Living in the 70s or ego is not a dirty word The Carpenters - Horizon
Great suggestions. I did look for my Koln Concerts to include in this one but couldn’t find! 😊
I love your videos. I get smile when you say "day-boo!" It pleases my American ears. Keep up the good work.
Haha
A Night At The Opera is Queen’s Sgt Pepper- a worthy choice! 👸
😊
Speaking of Queen, have you heard Spencer Sutherland's 2024 album called Drama. Very Queen inspired. Great voice.
No. Will seek out
Someone already mention AC/DC-TNT but also High Voltage by them was released that year. Now onto the good part: Hidden gems 1975: Amanaz-Africa, John Tropea-A Short Trip To Space, Mike Oldfield-Ommadawn, Rory Block-Rory Block, Sandy Davis- Back On My Feet Again, Taj Mahal-Music Keeps Me Together Blackfoot-Youth Power Between your recommendations and the others in the comments keeping me busy tonight.
Love these reccos!
Great video! 1975 was a great year for me and some of these albums brought back a lot of memories. Especially love Pieces of the Sky by Emmylou Harris. Keep up the good work.
🤩
Found most of her on Apple Music. Amazing. Could we hope that Neil Young would press for the release of the one hidden in some basement…
Who knows?? He seems to release one every week 🤣
Can only thank you a lot. Searched Apple Music and have a playlist with most of the artists. Except Elton and Joni M they were unknown for me. Amazing music the parts I have listen to.
😳
a bunch of good records .for me of course queen .and joni mitchell but me nr 1 is wish you were here poink floyd
Yeah that’s probably one of the absolute best from the year, maybe ever. 😊
Hello from canada

Amazing! I haven't thought about Split Enz in 50 years, I really like that band, and Mental Notes. Horses is my personal favorite of those you've featured here, Katie, followed closely by Joni. Thanks.
