More people need to know about them. I got to know about them through my older brother so I've been a fan since the early 1970s. It was the beginning of roots rock. The two of them with their immense talent were a catalyst for so many musicians. Like your channel.
Nice dive. I have Delaney & Bonnie on Tour w/Eric Clapton, as well as Motel Shot. It's interesting, and worth noting, I think, that a common thread in their collaborations with others was cocaine addiction. I first heard Motel Shot in the mid-1980s and was an instant fan. Another musician who is a common thread with these players is drummer Jim Gordon. Check out his discography. I did a video about him way back because he's played with everyone. Tragic story also.
Loved your story on Delaney & Bonnie that I had to watch it twice🤣😄😂.I lost my copy (the one with the rolls royce) but I`m on the look out for that one and others.
Hi Katie. Thanks for this video & the mention of Jo-Ann Kelly. I 1st heard her on a British blues comp ~ 1970. I have a copy of her solo lp issued on Epic Canada. I like Fahey & will look for the Blue Goose lp. Great insights, please continue.
Just discovered your channel. Subbed. D & B are one of my favorite groups. I have all of their albums. Motel Shot is my favorite. I have done several videos about them in the past.
Hi Katie, interesting video. I don't have any Delaney & Bonnie LP's myself though I should investigate them. You're probably aware that some core members of their band (Jim Gordon, Carl Radle & Bobby Whitlock) played on George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass" LP and formed Derek & The Dominoes with Eric Clapton which Duane Allman also played on the "Layla" album. George also toured with D & B as a band member (he mentioned this during "Get Back" chapter of "The Beatles Anthology" documentary). He apparently had a lot of fun doing that, but called the whole 'Get Back' saga 'the winter of discontent'. Speaking of Duane Allman, if you don't have them, I recommend you seek out both of his "Anthology" 2 LP sets which feature his session work with Wilson Pickett, Boz Scaggs, Aretha Franklin, The Allman Brothers Band and many others including with Hour Glass, his pre-Allmans band with Gregg. I've not heard of Barbara Keith though I recall seeing her name as composer on Sherbet's single cover of "Free The People" in 1971 which was an Australian hit. I'm guessing D & B's version was the inspiration for Sherbet's rendition. Did you get to the Glenbrook or Glebe Record fairs in the last couple of weekends. I did both and picked up a few things. I hope to make a video of it soon. Cheers & take care 👍👍😊
@@peterx1957 Fantastic notes. I am def going to checkout the LPs of Duane Allman you mentions . Yes! I got to Glenbrook only and picked up a couple of things :) look forward to seeing you video.
Sorry about the strange edit halfway through this video!!
I loved them. It is a shame they didn't last longer. Great video. Thx.
