How Riding Transforms in a Year - 2024 Season Recap

Doing yearly recaps allows to appreciate what has happened, and pivot into future horizons. 37 race starts, out of which were 6 stage races - numbers, which I never planned about or seek for. Great video! What would your top pick be for an xc hardtail on mostly non-technical courses and some gravel? Thunder Burts seem to be expensive and sketchy, I am leaning towards Conti Race Kings.

    • @tom10crafted
      @tom10crafted 20 годин тому

      @@Sinc28-95 Race Kings is great tire, quite a few ultras also use them, thus that means they are both - fast and reliable to punctures. Pirellis XC RC in 2.2 could be considered as well, maybe even LITE edition - depending how much do you weight

      @tom10crafted Thanks! I weigh around 75kg. I have the Mezcals but with the heavier trail casing which i like, so Vittoria with a lighter casing could work. I just think that I could get away with something really fast rolling for the type of riding I do.

    I've ordered from Westbrook before and have a lot of stock. Another way to find the replacement swingarm is to find a Scott dealer and they could order it for you directly from Scott (lately don't have much parts). Can't wait for the follow up video!

    • @tom10crafted

      That is true - yet at the same time if it is going to be direct order from distributor through LBS, it might take significant amount of time. Where here - almost instant shipping! First one is out: ua-cam.com/video/ixvSsnm_VWQ/v-deo.html Second scheduling for Monday, next week!

      @@Thewakkis99 My pleasure, matte! As for the swingarm, just make sure that swap is supported. Thank you for this video! At 1:25 how can you unscrew using a 12 female tool instead of HEX tool? I think that outer part of 12 tool gets stuck inside. But to unscrew in this way I think that this is not screw tight. Is it correct?

    • @tom10crafted
      @tom10crafted 2 дні тому

      Thanks! It is a hell of a job to deal with that. It requires to have allen key with a hole inside. As at that time I did not had such, I looked around what I can use alternatively. With that being said, I also used glove to tighten it, but it was still questionable. This one is required: 398-00-838 Well, alternatively you could drill a hole inside the hex to have proper offset to go in, but considering strengthness of alloy itself, it won't be an easy job. I already bought proper tools for the job and serviced it fully, will have a video at some point in the future!

      Hey, thanks! It really depends what you are after the most. I say that Sudety is more technical and challenging, but Bike Adventure is hard too in its way. Also, important factor to consider - the courses. Bike Adventure pretty much stays the same with very minimal corrections, where Sudety varies a great deal from year to year. Surely, same areas crosses but variety is bigger! Purely for courses, my preference would be Sudety - as it has more technical areas and well prepared courses. At least thats what was in 2024:)

      Thanks! Cables were indeed annoying problem at the beginning of the season, but later I bough longer extension into gopro mount - problem solved! In regards to the angle with the tire - that is my preference to convey two things: speed and angle. It is possible to rotate the camera that it won't be visible, but then it gets less sensitive to surroundings. Yet, its more like my taste I guess:)

    • @tom10crafted
      @tom10crafted 20 днів тому

      My pleasure! First impression on Fox was day & night experience - but is hard to be objective when SID Select already had 17k km on it. Even though it was serviced quite often, straight out of box feeling on Fox was...Magnificent. I was said that this difference comes from LSC on Fit4 damper (low speed compression). What it brings to the table is swallowing small bumps to the degree where you just KNOW they exist, but don't feel it :) I mean, its pretty hard to believe. RC Pro came with Fox Nude, haven't done a thing to lockout / twinloc internals - worked out of the box

    Why do you not like the factory stickers? Got my son's factory sc 120mm remote lockout for $884Aud(cheaper than RS Reba) was over $1370 before the discounts, have just bought him a $200 21year old drop bar full Ultegra 3x9 race bike in perfect cond that weight 8.5kg in original stock form, today went together and he already loves how fast and effortless it is and likes it more than his hardtail which sadly has cost me near 5,000Aud, ouch. Hopefully the fork swap transforms the hardtail. For stickers I might tape over the stickers with black tape so the other kids he races against don't get sad, but how to hide the kashima coating😊.

    • @tom10crafted
      @tom10crafted 21 день тому

      There is nothing specific about factory stickers, except subjective matter of taste. For me, the more minimal design - the better. SID has a lot better designs, IMO. Paint job is also one of the reason why I have RC Pro frame, heaviest from the carbon frames (sorry all those who have WC rainbows, that is my opinion only:)). Now THAT might sound contradictive from someone who has so many of my own stickers on the frame - but they are mine, and thats the difference for choice :)

    • @tom10crafted

      The story with those cranks goes as follows - first, I installed them by accident, from a need. Its 52mm. When I wanted XTR's, I contacted stages to ask whether they support 55mm.
