Today vs. years back, what these players make (salary), clouds the judgement of most managers. In Milwaukee last season, Willy Adames did plenty of loafing to 1st base and was never removed in the same game or benched the next game. It's one of the things that irked the fans of Milwaukee. Others players do the same, they are yanked or benched on the same team. Fans picked up on this right away. I don't believing in purpose pitches and I really don't believe in hitters showing up pitchers no matter what. That's the old school in me...

Leiter trade? Loved Leiter, but another no brainer. You don't need veteran arms in the bullpen of a non contender. Getting younger with upside makes a lot more sense. Cowles plays all IF positions & gets on base. Neely, at 6-8, is a heavy arm that projects late in the pen. Another great move on a team that is building.

There's two reasons to like the Paredes trade. 1. He's a significantly better defender at a need position 2. He doesn't strikeout remotely close to Morel who reminds me of Baez in that he's a total guess hitter. To me, this was a no brainer. Filled an immediate need moving forward. Also, you can't measure success of the trade based on counting stats. What guys do in the clutch is what matters. That & their ability to control the zone. Paredes wins in both areas.

All of these folks saying "sign Soto", you're forgetting that this isn't a video game. We could offer Soto $900M over 15 and it's no guarantee that he will accept. Seriously, would you want to play for this team as it's constructed? In the end, it comes down to the player. They ultimately decide where they WANT to sign. It doesn't matter how much money a team has if the player does not want to play for them.

I'd say B. Everything we did is reasonable. But we should have traded Taillon. good for him (finishes his career season with a contender) and we offload an exorbitant contract for an older player who likely won't pitch this good again

Morel is a bad fielder

I'd give Jed a D grade. Paredes was a good acquisition, and Morel has been a major disappointment. But we didn't dump much salary, and no one else is really major-league ready player. No catcher and no closer. And no star player, which we need in the middle of the order.
