Do these numbers encourage you? Discourage you? Do you think the Cubs have any chance of improving their WAR with some key acquisitions? Let me know your thoughts in the comments
I've been a lifelong Cubs fan, and i hate to burst your bubble but the Cubs are nowhere close to the Dodgers level. The Dodgers accomplished all this despite their pitching staff being decimated by injuries. The good thing is there are a lot of things the Cubs can do to improve, especially in slugging. Hopefully Bellinger can bounce back and if they can sign Alonzo or Bergman or Teoscar to a deal that will greatly improve the offense.
Sorry but a 7 war player doesn’t just appear out of nowhere and to trade for them would be expensive, the cubs have a farm system but they are wayyyyyyy tooo far from being even remotely as good as the dodgers. You had to cut shoheis War in half just to be slightly close. The dodgers had Mookie and Freddie hurt most of the year while the cubs just couldn’t preform. There is a large large margin between these two teams
Thanks, Kyle. This is the only Cubs video I've seen in some time that actually gave me hope. You should share this video with Jed; it might help his decision-making!
I don't think you're being too pie in the sky. The first thing you do is get rid of the two boat anchors, Patrick Wisdom and Nick Madrigal. There's $5M in salary saved and -0.9WAR removed. I think in 2025 you'll get a nice bump from PCA (maybe somewhere between 4-5WAR and 5-8HRs more). If you can just get him to hit between .260 and .275, you've got bare minimum 50 steals. Ideally, the next step would be to trade away either Bellinger, Happ or Suzuki (everybody knows Happ and Suzuki have NTCs), if you can't then the next two to get moved are Paredes and Busch (I like Busch quite a bit but YOU CAN'T RUN THIS BACK AGAIN). My plan is trade for Kyle Tucker, move Bellinger to 1B and sign Alex Bregman (I know I've obliterated the cap, go sue me). As for the pitching, Javier Assad needs to be removed as a starter, dude rarely gets past the fifth inning (trade piece or long relief). Sign Max Fried and either Walker Buehler or see if you can get Adam Mazur away from the Marlins (it's a stretch, I know). For the bullpen get 2 or all 3 of Jeff Hoffman, A. J. Minter and Carlos Estevez.
It’s not the move I would want. It’s an upgrade at 3B, but not a big enough one IMO. I’d rather the Cubs give Paredes another year, and if he doesn’t work out, you have Shaw as a back up to jump in. If he’s more of a 2B, then that means you need to trade Nico for a SP or legit RP. If that’s the case, I like it a little more. What about you?
@ got it. Despite the hate Cubs fans have put on Swanson, he’s been their highest performer for WAR. So, I think that’s been a good signing so far. Bellinger, that would been a tragic mistake to give him a similar contract given his most recent 3-4 years
@@SetupManCubs Cubs front office is way too fascinated by WAR stats. And look where the team is at. Miss playoffs regularly. Swanson got paid to provide us with a quality consistent bat. He has not shown that

This team is closer to another rebuild than being the dodgers. That rebuild is right around the corner
As a Dodger fan I want to see Cody do well, wish nothing but the best for that guy. Having said that, this video is pure hopium.. but I like it.

How far? About 800 millions...😂
lol! Well, when you put it that way 😂
There's a report about Ha Seong Kim being a Cubs priority, what do you think?

Cubs doesn't not have scary lineup make the playoffs every year
I agree. It’s not scary. But one superstar bat can help change the feel in a hurry. Where it will come from is still the mystery
Cubs take far longer time win another world series championships about tom ricketts doesn't not want to spend money on team
Is that a serious question
Of course. Isn’t every fan wondering how far their team is from a championship caliber team? Aside from White Sox fans lol
Why only one superstars player why not 3 superstars players
If it were only that easy
Cubs just need a $700m starting pitcher/DH who can win a Silver Slugger and compete for a Cy Young every season. Not that complicated.
Too much math, play!

When fans try to bankrupt the team, they are not much of a fan.
@@ttanne7838 can you elaborate? Not sure who/what you are referring to
