I'm lucky enough to be one of the few people that get to instruct at the DirtFish Rally School outside of Seattle, WA. When I'm not teaching people how to drive rally cars I'm typically making something else go fast or building something to have fun on at my house. From RC tracks to Mt. Bike trails and Pit Bike tracks, I love anything with a motor! #AvantLink #1018225

Subies are not the ideal car in rallying anymore. Chassis is too big.
Great video! How helpful has the water pump tool been so far? I've never seen one like this, really considering one for our track. Thanks!
It's definitely helpful... it struggles to pickup the last bits of the puddle but it causes a lot less damage than brooming out the whole puddle like I used to
They're sick bodies bro nice work! 👍👍
U got a sick track
Thanks man!
Waiting for Bigfoot to come outof the woods
You and me both... go viral for sure
how do u keep it from washing away?
Drainage helps but can't save everything... I add material when holes form from running and erosion
Thanks for a quality no bs video
No problem! Thanks for watching
Can’t wait to be in a class with you one day at dirt fish
Excellent video ❤
Nice
Thanks
Not sure if you remember but my old name is ptfs_kid if you don’t remember me go look at the vid called “can I catch him?” But anyways I finished my track and now I’m going to be getting a new truck that I can use for racing, it’s the traxxas max slash that’s I’m getting any tips on how I can improve my track like fixing the burns or jumps you can give me?
Dang you whipped it, I’ve never seen that with a rc car especially a race one
Lot of the young up and comers throw whips almost every jump. Turning the front tires and using gas or brake in a 4wd car changes the attitude drastically
That’s perfect for practicing
The torque just launches the car on that opening to the jump 😮😮😮
That looks absolutely amazingly
How much land do you have
We've got about 6 acres
What do you spike the border down with?
12 inch nails from Home Depot
Yes because my grandfather ran sprint super modified
Great Shot
"Recruit friends or children" *kids dont help and friends dont visit* Me: "Solo work, got it"
99.9% of mine is solo
What do you have attached to the hose that is being sprayed while wetting the track?
Honestly nothing, was some mosquito spray I believe but it's just a cheap nozzle at this point. My wife's using the other nozzles we have 😂
@@TheRacinJason🤦🏻♂️ lol that makes sense. Wasn’t sure if you were spraying something on the dirt to have some sort of effect.
Nope, I never add anything to my tracks. Just water
What car is that?
The tekno ET410
What is that green body?
It's the McAllister Toyota late model
Well done man, you have inspired me to make two separate tracks on my property over the last year. Best decision I have made! Next up is a dirt oval 👍
Awesome! Where you located?
😂😂🎉🎉 go big or go home
Always
Yep
So, you need an RC Sprint Wing.
Great content Jason, ty man👍👍
No problem! Thanks for watching
Awesome video, wish you had some nitro rc videos
I would like to in the future... just haven't been able to race enough to merit putting together a nitro program
Where did you buy this
Couple of sites out there carry them. LC Racing, hobby-addicts, Warren RC
What you charger?
Really only paint for myself these days... and have paid guys for my last few race bodies. Just too time consuming for me currently
What tires do you run on the stadium
Goosebumps are a go to... and they last pretty long because they wear into a bar style tire if the surface is good enough. My favorite is the proline holeshot. They're awesome but the small pin wears a little quicker
Nicely done. Out of curiosity what are the approximate dimensions (footprint) of this oval?
Hey Doug. I don't recall right off the top of my head but I know listed them in this full video about the track... My MOST FUN (and Easiest to Build) RC Track! ua-cam.com/video/r5oiXftSJaA/v-deo.html
@@TheRacinJason awesome!
Im planning on making a track on some public land (with permission from the city), currently the land features a BMX track, and a skate part, and the city is ok with me expandimg the bmx track with an RC track, i just sold it as an expansion to the bmx track using land currently unused. Only downside there is no where to place a driver's stand
Does the bmx track have a starting hill or is there any elevation change? If the track goes down a slope a little it can help some visibility
@TheRacinJason only a couple small hills, that's all, no starting hill
Hmm. Visibility is your most important thing. Hopefully you can figure something out
Why you not post video
Haven't been invited
@@TheRacinJasonwhat you mean
This is the only video I have of this track because I haven't ran on it
@@TheRacinJason oh
Smooth driving man!
Thanks brother!
Fantastic video! Something I've been thinking about a lot is how to "catch the car" at the right time as you say and arrest the rotation. I find myself oversteering in 2wd and totally spinning out a lot so I'd love to hear your thoughts on the best way to get better at this both as a beginner and then as a more advanced driver as well. I'm assuming for a beginner the answer is simply, make sure you're going slow enough so the car doesn't oversteer and spin out. But... for a more aggressive style, I know in a real car especially in loose conditions you can just counter steer and fix the rotating that way but in RC it's super hard because you're just looking at the vehicle and not "feeling" what the chassis doing underneath you. So, I'm currently practicing the concept of something like "opposite lock" to correct oversteer but it's very difficult to get just right. And then maybe something like a pendulum turn or scandinavian flick to get a 2wd to do 180 turns just for fun. Anyway, sorry for the long comment but just wondering on what your advice would be, thank you so much!
Or is it faster overall to simply make sure you don't enter the corner too fast to start with? I'm still pretty new to racing so trying to learn the best techniques to practice 2WD.
Catching rotating with throttle is much easier in 4wd... 2wd is much tougher to counter and use a little throttle. That's why most 2wd stuff is done on super high traction surfaces. With that being said the best thing will be to get your speed right on corner entry for minimal rotation and the ability to control the car and carry your momentum.
@@TheRacinJasonthank you so much for the reply! If you do find yourself in a corner where you’ve accidentally come in a little too fast, could you suggest the best technique to have the highest likelihood of saving it? Would it be counter steer and light throttle or no throttle at all?
@JakesRC-gm5fk if you're a little too fast hopefully there's more track to use and go wide without spinning. As far as saving there's probably still some variables... if the car gets sideways really aggressively you probably want to just counter steer and wait without throttle. At that point even a little throttle might just spin tires and spin you out. If it's not quite that aggressive you can add a little throttle, what the throttle is doing is transferring weight back to the rear of the car so it should put some grip back there to help you catch the car. That's essentially how you drive a rwd rally car or race car... one big thing with RC is how light they are and how powerful they are, so it's really easy to over do this and spin. 4wd is a different animal because the front tires help to pull the car or truck straight and you can save this stuff a lot easier
@@TheRacinJason that makes a lot of sense, thank you so much for taking the time to elaborate on that nuance about throttle and weight transfer, that really helps me make sense of what the chassis wants to do in that situation.
nice🤘🔥
What do you think the dimensions are for your track?
It's about 110' down the front straight... deepest part is only about 55' in one spot
What is the size roughly?
About 130' by 60' in a couple spots
@TheRacinJason thank you. I was figuring to build mine about 150x50. I wish I had the elevation like you but I've just got flat ground.
@kawboy17 gotta move some material around... I love the elevation too
Its been a few years since this truggy came out, do you still recomend it? New to the hobby here and so far a got the mjx 1/14 truggy and to be honest i dont like it and feel the need for something better out of the box thanks for your Chanel its been a pleasure to watch ypur videos
I'm gonna look up the MJX... but yes I still think this thing is good. I'm planning to do a giveaway on the channel
@@TheRacinJason mjx its more for bashing and going up and down the street but now i found racing to be way more interesting and bulid mysellf a dirt track :D

What is the wall made from looking to do the same thanks
I got some rubber flooring pad. It's honestly a bit soft. So you can hit the posts behind it... I have a wood wall on my off-road track that works really well
@ nice
I really enjoyed this vid, and now contemplating a small track for my Losi Micro Bs.
Make it big enough for mowers
We don't race lawn mowers here
I like that the leaves help make a great outline
Yes they do... but kind of a mess!
@ oh yes, I’m having that same issue with my track
@tyfly843 I built my tracks under the trees with leaves without even thinking about them
@@TheRacinJasonyou don’t have any where not under trees 🤣
Why does this happen 😢
Cell can go bad, wire might break, or the most common thing is it gets punctured. I've seen one get killed cuz a screw that was a little too long got put in the battery holder on a rebuild. Fully fresh car with a brand new body pretty much melted down first lap put
Sad to tell even real and Rc many people just talking Speed or they Over power there Rc and Car but they Don’t know how to Control or real Operating the Vehicle or Rc car’s I see you explain great hope people can Get something from this Video 👍
@@sooriyawijeraythna8045 car control and precision will lead to fast laps. Not big power and aggression
Very cool setup! And those were great explanations, I've been running RC's since I was a kid and I like when I learn more from fellow hobbyists lol keep up the good work!
@@hankkrendl8952 thanks Hank!
Hey Jason, how do you decide how long the straights are and how big the track is? I have a bunch of space, but I’ve never laid out a track before. I’m just trying to figure out how to put it all together.
Really just depends what you want. Super long straight can be hard on cars if you're track is really fast (overheating). Some people only use two thirds of the width they have. No right or wrong answer. My stuff is really dictated by space at my house due to trees. But if you have a ton of space the sky is the limit
4:06 the nose down from braking is not due to weigh transfer front to back it is due to conservation of angular momentum of the tires
What are you using for the tires ?
Reflexes or Recons from Jconcepts mostly. Proline holeshots are always good but don't get nearly as much life out of them
I’m still trying to learn how to do a backflip lol
Hold her wide open.. if it won't it doesn't have enough power, enough tire. Or the jump is too small
