    As a dad starting my kids into RC, this video made a strong point - less Nürburgring, more NASCAR. And that totally makes sense. We're just drawing tracks in the driveway with sidewalk chalk right now, but the fundamentals make a big difference. Just because it's a simple two or three turn track, doesn't mean there aren't skills being taught and honed. Cheers!

      Keeping it simple is a great way to start, building toward the tougher stuff! Thanks for watching

      You definitely should! Super simple build, and endless fun. Even for people that run Off-road, it's super satisfying to try to make good lap after good lap, especially in traffic!

      I was thinking something like that too. Maybe on one of the straightaways put some kind of jump. A single double or triple 😮 .

      I'm curious if it's smooth enough, probably not at the moment considering what mother natures done lately. And with the banking I don't know if they have the suspension travel... but I've got one sitting in the garage waiting for electronics so we will see eventually

    The night atmosphere with the lighting is fantastic (the forested surroundings help too!).
    Oval tracks are completely unfamiliar to me. Do you wash off speed in the higher elevation turn just by easing off throttle and turning in? Is it similar in the lower turn, or closer to no throttle or the tiniest amount of braking to get the weight were you want it, and the turn in speed right?
    Another great video, thank you for sharing it.

    • @TheRacinJason
      @TheRacinJason  Рік тому +2

      Because my track has such different corners both of the techniques you mentioned are in play. I usually use a little understeer or rotation to find the right speed. If I overdrive the entry or I'm trying to go to the inside I'll definitely use the brake but the brake is always there for control, especially when you're close to another car.
      I think the coolest thing to me is that it actually gets a cushion and as long as you're not too fast you can catch it pretty nicely and use it like a sling shot! I think it works best in turning to the right, which is probably why I have a little more fun! It's more uphill into the flatter turn and then the bottom turn really acts as a bowl in that direction so it lets you drive a bit harder. Bottom turn going left you really have to enter the outside smoothly because it's pretty steep in that direction. Super fun both ways especially with a couple cars out there to battle

    Awesome! I just tilled up a big patch in my yard and tried to smooth it out but it’s so bumpy. Any tips to get the track nice and smooth?

    • @TheRacinJason
      @TheRacinJason  Рік тому +1

      Definitely! Grab a rake, or you could drag a screen behind a mower or quad. And then lots and lots of water. Best thing for smoothing your track is going to be a big rain storm... and then just patience. The track will develop and change with the weather and how much you run on it and maintain it. They're bound do be pretty rough when they're brand new

      @RudeyPaTudey great place to start! Couple years you'll have a handful or race cars. Oval is a great place to start building the fundamentals I talk about in the video, before you think about controlling a car in the air!

    I want to see you drive a 2wd SCT on the oval. 🤘

    • @TheRacinJason
      @TheRacinJason  Рік тому +3

      I think the 2wd late models look pretty fun! On dirt I just love how you can over drive the 4wd stuff, but I did pick up a sprint car because my local track built a big fast oval and the truck just gets too hot.
      I'm gonna run out of garage space for RC stuff... not sure I'll add any 2wd stuff other than the sprint car, but if anyone brings a short course over ill snag some video

    Im not winning the compromise for backyard space with the old lady. Im thinking an oval may be best. The area i have to use can fit an oval similar to yours. I can build an infield 38ft×10ft. 8ft wide straight aways. 10ft wide turns. I can fit a damn 8th scale track in my yard but happy wife happy life
