The Electric Car Magazine is the English version of the Swedish Elbilsmagasinet, a media outlet all about EVs and electrification. The man behind is Christoffer Gullin, who has been making videos on UA-cam since 2021 and is, today, one of the largest UA-cam-channels in Sweden focusing on electric cars. On this channel, he publish his English versions to be enjoyed by everyone around the globe.

thank you for the review. that's less than ideal. in the states, super cold winters are not uncommon. ex30 is a nice 'small-ish' car, I wish it was more efficient and/or slightly larger battery - oh, and a bi-directional charging option (V2L) would be a nice touch. ack.
I quite like my XC40. It's definitely an adjustment after getting out of a Mazda hatchback. With the Mazda, you feel EVERYTHING through the steering wheel, the seats, chassis. With the XC40, other than numb steering and being higher up, it's surprisingly agile. Playful. It takes to corners pretty well for an SUV. It's a fun drive. The suspension is firm, for sure. It doesnt absorb big bumps well but it does mute smaller bumps reasonably OK. I wouid have preferred a V60 or V60 CC but maybe not! I've had ample seat time in the XC60 and X90 and, sure, while the XC40 has a solid closing door thunk and has some nice luxury and insulation, the former two are even quieter, more luxurious and spacious and rock solid. They handle bumps with aplomb. They're tanks. Those are the pros. The cons are they're tanks. They hate turning. They hate cornering. They hate fun. It's like driving a land yacht..or a tank. I dont care how luxurious and quiet a car is. Boring is boring. The EX30 intrigues me. It's lower, more powerful, more agile thanks to a shorter wheelbase. But I'm not sold just yet on living with it every day. It has the same vague steering. It seems like a downgrade, when the driving experience wont be measurably better. On the other hand, if it's more insulated and absorbs bumps better, that might be worth switching rides. For an EV, my choices are: Tesla 3 Performance, Tesla Y Dual Motor, the future Range Rover Velar EV, EX30, and Polestar 3. It's probably going to come down to the Range or the Polestar 3. The Polestar 3 screen in portrait mode is the only flaw. Everything else sounds amazing. A tall wagon that drives like a sports car. Actual steering feel! Amazing. It's been getting compared favorably to Porsche. EX30 doesn't have that! I think the new Ranges looks worse than the previous generation. They might screw up the Velar once it goes EV only here very soon. And then my choice becomes clear. Polestar 3 or Tesla.
i was so dissapointed when i was there.- i owne 4 volvos - the geely world is just a multimedia thing, i was so disapointed - spend 80 € for " fair " taxi driver from aida port to get there - wasted time for me - zero musuem!

Great informative video! Does the ambient lighting come standard on every trim? Or is that an additional option when getting a trim below plus and ultra?
So 120 miles at best meaning you’ll be forced to stop every 2 hours to plug in . Hopeless when a diesel Kia Sorento will easily manage 270 miles (430 km) before refuelling . I expect to do 4.5 hours between driving breaks meaning a single break and refuel of 45 minutes followed by a further 4.5 hours driving Try that in battery car and your day will a lot longer
Very similar to the BMW assist except that it does not use the indicator when parallel parking.
The buttons are laughably bad. I thought they were broken at first because I couldn't understand why they'd be installed in such an expensive car. This is not just a luxury problem. Those are the only real buttons in the car and I still have to doublecheck the screen each time.
What about in a box garage in apartments buildings? i have a tight garage and would love to have a car which parks by itself
I bought the core version and it didn't come with the key. Anybody know how I can program one to work with the car? Obviously I would need to buy the key
I have a 2022 Enyaq 60 Estate currently, been driving it for 2.5 years and it's been a great car. It was upgraded to the 3.7 software this year and that's about as far as it will go there. Just in the process of ordering my 2025 Enyaq vRS. I nearly went for the L&K but I thought I would go for the vRS.....also have the Sunroof, Transport package and Maxx pack on it, it's fully loaded.
You must first unlock drivers door before the passenger door same like other keyless cars

This is such a bullshit from volvo, im really disappointed, my wife bought core model, and I was expecting that with phone app this stupid card unlocking/locking and especially starting will go away. I hope they will be so fair to allow phone key regardless of car level (also for core).

Excellent reviews especially of Volvos. Do you think you will do an EC40 v EX40 comparison? Would love to see it! Also, can a bicycle fit in the back of an EX30, EX40, and EC40? Btw, you are hilarious...I think many people miss your dry Swedish sense of humour.
It's a bit unfair to compare list prices of the two cars. A Renault dealer will discount by significantly more than a Volvo dealer.

The card is essential if the battery runs out on the key fob, like mine has. The battery in the fob didn’t last very long, so you might want to buy some spares just in case. They’re not expensive. Otherwise if the battery runs out on your key fob, you’ll be stranded unless you have the card featured in the video as a back up
The app is very limited. I'm disappointed!

I’ve just got my brand new EX30 and I’m having the same issue with proximity locking and unlocking - sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t, not ideal!!!
In Volvo's own site, that flat card is described as a plan B backup in case you don't have your NFC-enabled phone with you. So it seems like the original idea was that Core users should open their card with their mobile phone, and the card used only in an emergency. And then the mobile phone thingy wasn't ready in time...
This review is making the wrong assumptions based on the large body size of the reviewer. Assuming that tall passengers can’t shift to the front seat and decide accordingly. As a father with a family of 4, I take the height of my family members into consideration so I totally disagree with the review in relation to indoor comfort
My advice is to disable the quantum surround and leave the setting in rear setting. Best audio fidelity. I own an EX30 plus :)

Hola! Thanks for the video, I had heard about you trying the EV9 with a trailer and I was surprised to see that gigantic caravan, impressive! I have a Kia EV6 AWD with a caravan of about 1000 Kg, my average consumption is approximately 34kWh/100, in my case I consider that the consumption is high due to the frontal surface of the caravan, it measures 2.5m wide, 2.5m high and 6m long Apart from the weight, you have to take into account the aerodynamics of the caravan, this makes it penalize the consumption a lot, since the resistance produced by the caravan is very high Regarding the trailer mode, in my EV6 it deactivates rear sensors, activates all-wheel drive and the regeneration is manual from 0 to 3, the LKAS and other aids work, including the blind spot! When driving such a wide caravan, I am surprised that the blind spot works while driving. The HEAD UP Display shows me the lane occupied warnings, which I thought would cancel it. The EV6's range with my caravan is 244 km at full charge, but my experience tells me that this is IMPOSSIBLE. In the best case scenario, it is around 200 km with a full charge. From 10 to 80%, 160 km is very optimistic. The advantage of the EGMP platform is that it charges very quickly, and from 10 to 90% it charges in 24 minutes on +250kW chargers.
the 'core' extended range model also charges at 22kW
I just purchased tne Enyaq Coupe ..and it's my first EV.. and I think this is my biggest fear going to a long distance drive, and then at 5% at the charger... the charger does not work.. and refuse to work..would suck soooo bad..
Which means EX30 is higher in price and less with comfort but EX30 is made for fast or quick or low range one or two persons and use back seats with trunk then one gets more space though.............But VOLVO didnt succeed with EX30. EX40 abviously much better comparison to EX30 and XC60 even better and best EX90 but we all are missing EX60 instead came EC40/C40 got many complications with 360 camera view and few other things therefore i wouldnt buy wether EX30 and C40, dont know why VOLVO made these two and flopped due to all complaintments issues well VOLVO wouldnt agree.........
Just got my EX30 Ultra TM having previously had Polestar P2. Volvo need to have a chat with their colleagues in Polestar, they listened, learnt and resolved nearly all of these issues 3 years ago.

Hve you tried the smart #1? It has a plusher, larger seat, it has physical buttons on the steering wheel and a HUD. It's also a bit better packaged, especially for the rear passengers. And in Brabus trim doesn't look overly happy (and you can now disable the fox).
