These are obviously European engines . I had a 1980 320i which actually had the 1.8 liter engine and this thing barely got up to 170 kilometers per hour without a lot of pinging.and bucking . It was designed for regular fuel but would ping like crazy under load . Gutless engine to say the least .

The 320i video you used here is the 150 hp version (engine code M52TUB20) , not the 170 hp version (M54B22). Get your info right please.

Well hang on all these engines have a sport gearbox an diff i guess but bmw lost the torquey wide ratio gearboxs they used in 1980s90s and gave us well modern technology but you cant beat a classic bmw it did feel like machine the e 30 46 too

the fact that you put different amount of fuel and different air temps when comparing it's a waste of time to watch. full tank for 316i....vs half tank for the majority of all the others changes a lot., but yeah, prolly you know nothing about IAT and power to weight ratio.

Man the 318i is slow. Hardly pulling past 100km/h

Would be fun to have a 40i xDrive with Turbo tuned as last 😅
