    You are kidding yourself if you don’t think BB will make a positive impact on UNC Football 🏈

    I would guess that the SEC is MORE WORRIED. Now BB and UNC will be outbidding Bama, Ole Miss, UGA, LSU, Texas, OU, and even TAMU for the best players. Then if he starts winning every NC, then ESPN and the SEC will cry in their beer. I'm getting my popcorn for this one. Gonna be good.

    Footnote: unc will NEVER be able to compete with schools like U T Austin in terms of $ ( nil, facilities, coaching salaries, etc etc etc). This latest move with Belichick( and son in less than 3 years) - is North Carolina model of “ gentrified Colorado Deion Sanders”- unc is already milking the pr and hype like a cow that overdue for miking!

    There are a lot of poor takes in these comments. This was an amazing move for you and Carolina football. People focusing on Belechick's age or coaching regimen I'm missing the larger picture. By bringing him in and agreeing to the demands he brought, UNC finally showed an immense commitment to Big Time football. It's not about the head coach. It's about all the support that is now being thrown at the football program. Money talks, and UNC just increased it's allotment to football by leaps and bounds which will pay dividends moving forward.

      Not exactly... UNC is showing another attempt to finance big time football. Resources poured in during Brown 1.0....

    From a marketing standpoint, Carolina is already the number one team in the ACC! Today in the world of sporting news they were topic #1 in just about every show I watched. I tuned into Dave Doeren's press conference concerning the Military Bowl and question number one asked Dave to give the reporters his thoughts on the hiring of Bill Belichick as UNC's head coach. Though somewhat perturbed, he gave a very stoic and humble reply, welcoming BB to the ACC.

    UNC has made the leap. 2O million in NIL money set aside every year. A GM and pro coaches coming in to make a college team a pipeline. North Carolina is all in now. Give it 2 years and you'll see a powerhouse..

      I think I like prime time unc has talent on the team. All Heel Bill has to do is recruit over the players. We just have Clemson on our schedule this year. I think if they get a Qb they can make a push for the playoffs

    Belichick is probably the greatest defensive football mind in football...history. If anything, he will attract 4-5 star defensive recruits to UNC. Let's see where it goes from there.

  • @michaelholbrook9645
    @michaelholbrook9645 Місяць тому +1

    And I think another aspect of this is WHAT IF HE IS A REALLY GREAT COLLEGE FOOTBALL COACH? The pressure is on the ACC coaches that have been in place forever to perform and show some grit against the ex-professional football coach whom supposedly no NFL team wants but I just watched a brilliant takedown of that narrative by a CBS Sports analyst on the O & G podcast earlier today.

  • @jabareo
    @jabareo Місяць тому +5

    I would say that it would be a splash hire If UNC was hiring Belichick away from New England. That’s not the case. They are hiring someone who despite all of his success was rejected by the NFL. No owner wanted to hire him.

    • @antoniodunn2164
      @antoniodunn2164 Місяць тому +1

      That's not true.. he definitely could have got a NFL job . The ONLY reason he is not coaching is never he wouldn't take just any NFL team... He has a choice with a few teams... This was one of the best things that could happen to UNav and college football in general. They are gonna take his model and use it in most programs if he is indeed successful... UNC just made football a serious sport. Instead of mainly focusing on basketball.

    • @jabareo
      @jabareo Місяць тому

    Folks need to see the larger picture here. The ACC including UNC is locked into a bad football contract with ESPN thru 2036. Clemson and FSU are suing to get out of it. The SEC and Big 10 want all the dominant football programs and has it's eyes on UNC, but football at UNC has been slightly above average. UNC recognized that despite their dominance in basketball, football is king and they need to either catch up or be left behind financially and reputationally. If Belichick can make them a perennial playoff contender, their investment will pay off in spades, either by being at the top of the ACC, or being courted to join the SEC or Big 10. Bottom line is that UNC is a dominant athletic school EXCEPT in the #1 cash sport. They just made a major move to fix that problem, and served notice to the ACC that it's game on. Selah

  • @dg1019
    @dg1019 Місяць тому +2

    Here is the problem with BB schools. Usually there is a BB faction within the boosters and the athletic dept that are anti football, or more to the point anti anything that takes the spotlight off of basketball. They don't see it as rising tide floats all boats like they should but its a true jealousy. Maybe that's not the case at UNC but I'm a fan of a G5 BB school where the AD and BB coach and BB faction of boosters that almost killed the FB program. There is still a power struggle to this day over the new emphasis on FB.

    • @tarheel7406
      @tarheel7406 Місяць тому +1

      A G5 doesn't really have the exposure nor finances to have both competing at the top level.

    • @DavidM-du7xo
      @DavidM-du7xo Місяць тому

      I would worry about this (for example, this seems to be the case at Kentucky), but UNC has been a relatively good football program for the past few years (minus this year). People know who Sam Howell, Josh Downs, and Drake Maye are. Notice Stoops at Kentucky still has his job, despite an underwhelming football season (not to pick on Stoops- love him as a coach. Kentucky was just the first good example I could think of). Carolina fired Mack Brown despite “pretty good” performance for a few years because they wanted to make that next step. Plus, with Duke football all of a sudden good, and NC State always able to cause problems (specifically against UNC), I don’t think they want to lose to them, regardless of sport.
      Unrelated, but I had to read your comment twice, because the first time, I read “BB schools” as “Bill Belichick schools” 😂.

    Please for the love of God stop comparing it to coach prime. Prime came to a dumpster fire of a football program UNC may not be top program but they at very least “mid” before prime most couldn’t name a recent Colorado player people know Omarion Hampton josh downs drake maye Sam Howell so therefore just winning 8 games really won’t be impressive. I think Chapel Hill is at the point where okay we’ve been ranked high, had a great recruiting class, had top 10 picks, made acc championship but are we going to win acc championship and make a college football playoff or choke after starting 6-0 and only winning 8 or 9 games

      No it doesn't. The University GM is a correlation to the NFL. College GM's are hired by the HC and report to the HC. BB organizational structure places the GM ahead of the HC and makes the HC report to the GM. Also the recruiting structure runs thru the GM.@SurferRC

      ACCOUNTABILITY, RESPONSIBLITY. I have not read his Bible and most of us will probably never get the chance, however it appears his plan is to incorporate a NFL system to a college University. Its been mentioned financial commitments must be met. Incorporation of a recruiting team that is University generated. So when a coach leaves the recruiting team remains. It includes a contract attorney to be used when revenue sharing kicks is in the near future. Yes colleges have some of these but not to the organizational structure Bill is demanding.0:01 @SurferRC
