This is fabulous, your teaching us to be more resourceful, imaginative, even if your not on a no buy. I also have quite a few early 1990's Burda magazines are still relevant, fabrics maybe daggy, but are 100% worth keeping. In Australia they are a bit hard to come by these days.
Hi , thank you that is so kind. The Burda magazine have really good tip sections too I wonder if that was the same in the early ones? Have a great week. ☺
Great video Diane I recently had a big tidy up and found lots of sewing “stuff “ I’d forgotten about 🙈 I have now designated a box with all my extras and I’ll probably not need to buy anything for a few years!! So here’s two spend 2025 & a happy new year to you 🎉😊
Oh wow forgotten treasure, have fun making it up. Have a super week. ☺
Happy New Year Dianne! How did you know……! Organisation, that is the key. I have some lovely fabrics, plenty of patterns and if I’m organised and plan a bit, like you say, instead of just being swept up by the latest releases, I will have a great time with what I have. Making some precut strips with scraps is a good idea too! Then I may actually make that quilt with my nice cotton left overs! Thank you so much xxx
Hi Karen, happy new year. Oh that is great I look forward to heaing about what else you make and yes make a quilt. I made one a couple of years ago and just worked on it each day beofre you know it you have enough blocks for a quilt!☺
7:14: you are right. I have had a subscription to Burda and now see many repeats, but changing only the fabric and setting is helpful. I'm not great at picturing clothes in different fabrics. Also, I haven't been inspired to sew clothes lately, so instead, I will practice specific skills with scrap fabric, such as installing different types of zippers, perfect buttonholes, test out different feet, etc.
Hi, have fun working on your skills. ☺
Great video Diane. I want to do this. I've easily got enough fabric for a year's sewing. Lots of good ideas. I like the re fashioning idea. In December I subscribed to Stash hub and finding it very helpful in organising my fabric. Also patterns. I have a lot of pdf's and the problem with them is I forget what I have because they are not visible until I print them. I have just discovered patterns that I didn't know I had. Also I have the Palmer pletsch complete guide to fitting for Christmas. This could be the year I get my fitting issues sorted.
Hi Jayne, yes there a re lots of useful resources out there and I am sure lots of us have plenty to be getting on with. I hope you enjoy learning all about fitting techniques from your new book. ☺
Lots of really good ideas Diane. Another tip I would like to suggest and intend to get on with it myself is to make up a supply of bias binding using odd pieces of fabric from my stash. I recently made a scrappy quilt and found it so therapeutic and rewarding to have made something useful out of nothing !!!! (And It was actually quite lovely ,though I say it myself )🤩 Iam also on a No Buy year, other than buying from Charity shops who often have great fabric.
Hi jennifer, yes scrap busting making bias tape is a great way to use up leftovers and a pretty addition to clothes too. ☺
Hi Dianne You have provided some great ideas; one suggestion which rang true with me is to organise my supplies. I don't have a designated sewing room and have to keep my haberdashery and fabric between two cupboards. I have lost count of the times I have bought haberdashery I thought I had used! By the way, I love the top you are wearing in this video. Hope you had a good Cbristmas and happy new year to you. Jill x
Hi Jill, happy new year. Yes I know exactly what you mean, as I have a small sewing room and I am often busy sewing for my job so I put things in every available box and high up cupboard to keep it tidy then struggle to find things. This is really an issue for me too. ☺
Hi Diane Happy new year What a lovely video such great ideas I’m doing a no spend year for 2025 And only tonight I was thinking about my wardrobe for the year I will certainly take some of your fabulous ideas and put them into practice Thank you Xx❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Paula, happy new year. Glad you found some useful ideas and all the best with your no spend year. ☺
I would love to give it a go, some great ideas. Thank you.
Hi Carol, all the best and have fun.☺
Great tips Dianne! What pattern did you use for the backpack (rucksack) you showed? It's awesome!❤
Hi Patricia, I made my own pattern for the rucksack using the basic shape from one of my husbands and a bit of improvising, if you are interested I did do a video on it here... ua-cam.com/video/5SBIWldX1rU/v-deo.html
@Dianne-ut5vr thank you!😊
Happy new year Dianne! It’s surprising what you make in a year and it’s nice to look back at it all. I love the top/ dress that you are wearing, I think you must like it too as I’ve seen you wear it a few times on your posts. Is it red or pink 🤔 I can’t tell , but it fits you so well.
Hi Janice, yes the top is red, it is an art gallery fabrics jersey and it used to be a dress that i made, I refashioned it into a top and now wear it all the time! Happy new year. ☺
so glad I found your site love it
Thank you Mary☺
Happy New Year Dianne! Great vlog. Lovely presents. 🎉
Happy new year Bridget☺
Hi Dianne, some beautiful and thoughtful Gifts. My husband I were unwell with the virus that is doing the rounds over Christmas and we are recovering just left with the cough. Looking forward to this year's video ..I to watch Ali from this wonderful life she is really lovely and a joy to watch very much like yourself. Have a good week Dianne. Susan 🌸🌻🌼🌺
Hi Susan, sorry to hear you have both been unwell I hope you are fit really soon. Have a lovely week☺
Your channel just popped up. You are a very good seamstress. Lovely clothes. New subscriber. Hello from South Australia. God bless
Hello, thank you and welcome. ☺
Well done, I love your style of clothes, lovely makes.😊happy new year.
Hello and happy new year.☺
I got money from my husband for a new sewing machine. Can’t wait to go out and buy one
Oh lovley, happy machine shopping☺
My daughter loves books. She loves the feel of them and even the smell of a new book 😊
Yes new book smell!😍
Thanks for the book recommendation, I'm going to Barnes & Nobles tomorrow and I will check out. I love your videos!
Thank you, have fun book shopping. ☺
Lovely presents Dianne, it was so thoughtful of your son to get you the quilting bits and bobs to go with the book 😊
Oh and I have read Addie La Rue and I enjoyed it, but I did find it hard to suspend my disbelief, does nobody ever use the bathroom in this book?! 😂
I know it was such a lovely thoughtful gift.☺
I bought myself a tailors ham and sleeve roll when holidaying in the usa..... I put them in my cabin bag as I was scared my case might get lost... only to be hauled over at security. I couldn't understand why on earth they had stopped me until they asked why I had in my bag - I suddenly realised they prob looked like body parts on the scanner 😂😂😂 the lady did laugh when I lifted them out and explained I was a dressmaker 😊
Oh no how embarassing, they would look a bit odd I expect😂😂
Happy New Year, Dianne! 🙂
Happy new year
Oh, I love challis. It's like a substitute silk, sort-of. ha ha.
I love the frill you did on the neckline of the navy blue Alexa. If you could add what the fabric is to each make, it would be helpful (I'm still getting used to picking out fabrics). And I love your hairdo - always have. So many women with a high forehead have it slicked back (to look like Tyra Banks, I guess). But yours is perfect and is so flattering to your face. Good on you - your videos are so pleasant and easy to watch.
Hi Elaine, thank you fo watching. The fabric on the navy blue dress with the frill was a viscose challis, always good for dresses. ☺
How did you make all that in one year🎉
What pattern did you use for the white tee shirt please?
Hi there it is Burda 6059 and the video link is here... ua-cam.com/video/aKRFWq78i1k/v-deo.html

Susan 🌼🌺🌻🌸
Hi susan, thank you and a happy new year to you. ☺
Dianne I did laugh when you called your jacket a “slow sew” and then said it took a week 😂 That would have taken me six! I’m so sorry about the hole though, so annoying 😢
I know, I will fix it though. ☺
I love your videos. You have quite a few really nice makes. Happy New Year.
Thank you Robin☺
You can stitch that little teeny hole! You have to search for it so it's not that bad.😅😅😅
I know I will sort it it was just annoying to see. ☺
Hi Dianne!❤ I'm here watching your year in review of your makes!😅
Hi Zelda. ☺
I have that issue! But I haven't make anything from it yet. I am still learning the craft. I really like the vintage pinafore, maybe less volume in the skirt
Hi, I hope you get chance to sew up the pinafore soon. Have a great day. ☺
Thank you Dianne for an enjoyable year watching all your posts. I look forward to the next year watching you. I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year. Jan x
Thank you Janice that is very kind of you. I hope you have a lovely Christmas and a peaceful start to the New Year. ☺
