I do agree with you Dianne, although it would be fun to have your colours done , it is obscenely expensive. I think most people know what suits them. For a lot of people having a wardrobe that's interchangeable is enough. ❤
Hi Dianne, I really like your dress, it reminds me of a tessuti one I've seen, but it's not as low-cut. I have watched Sally's vlog about her colour me beautiful experience. I think we all know what we like but it's maybe nice to be told that other colours work as well. I had my colours done nearly 20years ago now and my hair colour has changed . So maybe my colours may be different. I think the colour wheel is a fabulous tool to use. I was a florist and it's invaluable when you start to see what colours work together. Good luck with you DIY version, I'm sure you'll get good results.
Hi Annette, that is interesting and yes I am sure when you change hair colour etc or maybe get a tan I am sure your colours will change, so perhaps that is something we have to revisit or adapt over time. I was also confused about the bare face thing? As many of us wear make up so unless you are about to change all of that too surely this wouls alter what suits? I will try out my colour wheel have a great week. ☺
Hi Dianne, I watched the vlog with Sally talking about having her colours done and like you it's something I've been interested in for a while, but it is expensive. I like what you've done with your own research though - something I'd like to do myself. The black dress is lovely, and I agree that the brown buttons just lift the black a little. Love hearing about your plans for September too xx
Hi Michelle, yes I looked into the deal for two people having the consultation together and I thought about you☺it was still expensive though for half the time! I think I will stick with my version🤣. We will have to have a chat about it. See you soon.
Lovely dress! you always know how to style and what suits you! I’ve never had my colors done, either, but after a while you know what you prefer on yourself. I figured out I was warm toned because I like the look of gold jewelry on me. Maybe you’ve found that preference yourself (as opposed to white gold or silver jewelry)? ❤❤ Suzanne
Hi Suzanne , thank you yes I agree with time you realise what suits. As regards to gold jewelry yes I do believe it suits me better and I always used to wear gold, but I have been gifted silver on a silver aniiversary and also from a friend a few years ago then I added to it so I have been wearing silver. However against my skin such as my rings on my hands, the gold does work better. ☺
Hi Dianne. I just found your channel just now and I am happy to subscribe. I struggle with picking colours that suit my complexion and often tend to buy navy or black. I would like to use more vibrant colours for my makes. Colour theory is a in fact its own science. The weird thing is that I used to do graphic design work and I kind of know what goes with what but mixing colours for digital and print is such a different process from mixing fabrics and matching them with people. Anyway, you've given me a great idea and I will be doing my own colour investigation. Thanks, Dianne! -Sandi from Jamaica
Hi Sandi from beautiful Jamaica, I got married there many years ago and would love to retutn one day. Your background in graphic design sounds interesting and I am sure it will help you even if it is different using the colours on people. I think I will revisit the books as it may help me to piece together my scrap fabric collection. have a lovely day. ☺
Hi Diane, I tried to make the dress before. Unfortunately I purchased a flawed version of the pattern where the facing/band was not the correct size. I watched a video of how to try and correct it but to make a long story short, the fabric snagged in unpicking and could not be saved. I loved the fabric so much, I was so crushed I threw the pattern and dress in the garbage. I love your dress and knew I would have loved mine, but I will never try it again. It took me several weeks before I even wanted to sew again.
Hi Sheila, oh that is such a shame. It is odd because I always feel like the back facing is wrong on mine and I change it, both times I have made it I have altered my back facing, I thought it was me! I hope you have re-sdiscovered your love for sewing but that is so sad.
I have had my colors done twice. Once about 20 years ago and then more recently as I’m now older to check if my color has changed with age! Was definitely worth it. I am a bright spring and I do love the colours that are recommended. But - it is not always possible to find fabrics (or RTW) in these colors come autumn and winter. Feels wrong to wear my lovely bright light colors when everyone else is in darks / blacks or very rich colours. Not reconciled this yet.
I would love to see how you create a pattern from the top. One day I would love it if you could do the same for elasticated trousers. Not sure how to do the inner seams and crotch - different front and back. Love your vlogs! Keep them coming😊
Very good idea
Thank you have a great day.

Hi Anne, maybe people could get togther wih friends get a few fabric samples and make an evening of trying it out together? ☺

Gorgeous dress Dianne! I’ve used buttons backwards before too, if you prefer the back, why not? 😊
Thank you Hayley, it is good to use things differently anayway. 😀

Hi Sharon, I will show how I make the top and also demonstrate the trousers one day. Have a good evening.
