What difference does the upmap make , looking back do you think it’s a safe install to the bike ?
@@itsallabouttheridekeepingi4449 I didn't really upgrade to the Upmap from standard becasue I wanted to, it was more because I had too.. Decat ting the exhaust and having the storm muffler meant it ran terribly on the standard mapping. Even though the V85 ecu is a learning one. It just couldn't sort out the current setup, so I bought the Upmap.. Benifits of the map.. More power, crisper, sharper, more torque. Mpg lost a few. Whwre I do think it shines is in overtakes. And slow msnoivering when I'm off road. The standard map used to have what we call kangaroo petrol.. It would surge a lot, which is not what you when riding technical lanes.. Now it's just smooth & Powerful
@@buckymoto1784 thanks for a detailed reply, I did sort out the low RPM “ surge “ that they all seem to have due the emissions crap with the V- boast ( but iv recently noticed since doing the decat that after riding say for an hour , if I stop the bike and then start again, like straight away the bike will surge for 30-1 minute before it clears ? , not sure if this is an ecu thing or if it’s say a bad plug ? put new ones in yesterday and will test today . The old ones did look fine . Maybe I need the upmap , I know you had some trouble with your bike prior to a trip ? , what was the issue their ?
@itsallabouttheridekeepingi4449 I had a couple of issues happen at the same time. The 1st and worst one was the throttle potentiometer died. Meaning the bike was in perminent limp mode. A new set of oem heated grips fixed that issue. The 2nd longterm issue I had was what I thought was a cold start issue becasue it started the issue in winter time. But as I got into the warmer months it still remained. This issue was the bike wouldn't keep running when I started it from cold. It would take 3-5 attempts to get it to stay running. Then it would run very lumpy for 2-3 mins and eventually run OK. Then if I stopped during a ride for an hour lunch, the bike would refuse the run for 3-4 attempts.... So after that longwinded answer the issue sorted itself out after I ride around Europe in 30+deg air temps and hammering motorways for 3 days straight at 85mph.. I can only now guess that it was damp ingress into a wiring harness or harness plug that dried out. 🤷♂️ It now starts on the 1st attempt and runs beautifully.. Unfortunately the only way you will know if the Upmap will work is buy one. But you will notice a nice change in the bike if you do 👍🏻 Here is a link to a YT I uploaded but it's not for public viewing only sharing. ua-cam.com/video/SWC8cTPB1Eo/v-deo.htmlsi=s6xC0mDoniS6vmxi

My next bike for sure!
hi did you take your bike to the mechanic specialist in Italian bikes and was there a solution and which one?
The throttle issue turned out to be the Potentiometer in the throttle. I purchased a new set of OEM heated grips which fixed the issue. As for the weird starting issue I had had since the previous Christmas, this must be damp getting into wiring plugs, because 3 days into out euro trip when the temps got up to 30+ and we hammered motorways for 3 days straight this seemed to fix the issue and the bike has run & started like a dream since July
@@buckymoto1784 happy for you there is nothing worse than small recurring breakdowns that we cannot identify quickly. I have two motorcycles a YAMAHA 250 WR R from 2010 that I prepared for raid and an AJP PR 7 (to replace my T 700 Ténéré sold) that I bought in September 2023 my driving is oriented off road engaged in raid in Morocco, SPAIN, PORTUGAL, FRANCE. I am interested in the MOTO GUZZI V85 tt to travel two over long distances ... reliability is a priority for me. in France, there are new 2024 models on clearance at €9,300 and 2019 models between €5,000 and €7,000 there is a lot of choice I am waiting, winter is approaching and sales will be difficult, maybe I will sell my 250 WR R and go for the V85 tt
hi nice video, the tracking seems good quality... did you encounter any tracking issues when accelerating or in areas with a lot of trees? thanks for your reply
@@atprodT700 Tbh I don't use the tracking around trees.. Don't fancy wrecking a £1000 drone.. I tried once and it clipped a branch. Luckily it was able to stay up. It was in winter though and the trees had no leaves.. As for tracking at speed 30mph is it's max for keeping up. If you accelerate hard it will loose tracking.. But as you can see in the video it will pick up the rider even if they go out of frame as I did. It didn't start following the other riders. But waited on me.
@@buckymoto1784 yes that's what I saw on the video. THE SKYDIO has incredible monitoring but not imported into Europe (it is still possible to import it as an isolated item) but much too expensive (very high customs fees in France) for occasional use (the sale of new ones has stopped I think).

@@cmwilfred Check out the drone tracking video I put up a few weeks ago and you'll see them in action 👌🏼
I like your black V85TT bike, it's very clean. I have the same bike but in red and white. Two years today I go my bike new, and had a few issues starting, but not always from cold, it struggles to start and sometimes when it does start its idle speed struggles to go above 1000/1500 rpm. My local Guzzi dealer don't know what it could be, even though they has been a Guzzi dealer for probably 20 years. Its only happened around 4/5 times over the 2 years of owning the bike, but because of that, I have thought about selling the bike and going to another brand, but I do love the bike, its shaft drive, easy to maintain/service, tubeless tyres, auto cruise, comfy, and different from any other bike on the road, which I like. I have also been to Europe last year and no problems at all, and have fitted the carpuride 7" which is great, but doesn't do voice activation. Thanks for the great video, great bike, and safe riding, cheers.
Between the caliper and the spacer should also be a separate washer.

In all honesty all reviews about reliability it is becoming so boring… I know a bike needs to be reliable, but is it exciting, do you feel the bike, is it making your internal engine tick? One of the reasons for the motorcycle collapse is that people are fixating with reliability and end up buying the same bikes on and on… btw I own a motorcycle Guzzi and love it to bits
@@deusexmachinawl I totally Agree 👍🏻. This bike has given me some serious headaches. But I'll never sell it. Because when I start it and head off on a ride. This bike makes me smile and feel good. 3 revs to 6k? That's the Italian tune up. Wink wink!!
@@psalwasser 🤣 They even self diagnose and fix themselves. I had what I thought was a cold starting issue since Christmas last year. Where the bike would take 3-5 attempts at starting. Press the start it would start then die. 2nd press it would start run for 10 secs /die. 3rd press. Start run for 30 secs die. 4th press / run but be very lumpy. But maybe keep running. And after 60 secs or so you would audibly hear it smooth out and run normally. When riding it would feel normal. BUT.... if I stopped for an hour it would give the same cold start issue.. But then as summer came round here in Northern Ireland. It still did the same thing so it wasn't cold issue... Anyhow as we travelled down through France in the High temps of Italy etc as we got to the mother ship. The next day and every day after that the bike has started perfectly 🤷♂️🤣 I now belive that damp had got into a wiring plug and the extreme heat from the motor and 38deg air temps dried it out.
@@buckymoto1784 I am picking up chatter about the cold start sensor. and possible disconnecting it. my dealer is calling piaggio and is getting back to me about this condition.
@@psalwasser I'd love to hear what they say also... Where is the sensor located?
@@buckymoto1784 just caught post that its the cold start sensor, but I dont know where it is connected, but its probably in the heads or near the combustion. will update after I hear from service manager this week.
Awesome views. I wouldn’t fancy the cobbles in the wet though. Ride safe..
I have seen other videos that people say they are treacherous in the wet
Modifying your bike is fine as long as you use parts designed for it and use them as intended. I hope you've resolved the issue by now. The first thing I would have tried is reloading the original map into the ECU if that was at all possible, and also install the baffle. I would think that the original ECU and sensors would have been able to compensate for the muffler with baffle and the air filter. You really shouldn't have fiddled around trying to start the bike or ride the bike after this issue developed. If it were to be a problem with your oil pump, you could have completely fried your motor! I hope this has not been the case.
@@markschmitz8575 I tried returning the bike back to standard, including putting the catalyst back on and installing the original map. In the end it was the throttle potentiometer that was broken. A new set of heated grips fixed the running issue and dash lights. As for the bad starting issue. This is down to damp getting into a wire or connector. Because riding in Europe for 16 days of 30+deg temps dried it out and the bike started perfectly every day and continues to run perfectly every day with All modification back on the bike before I went to Europe. Check out the MOTORCYCLE NIRVANA video and you will see how great the bike runs with all the mods.. 👍🏻 Thanks for stopping by.. 👍🏻

@@niczek123 The gearbox has got better with more miles. (smoother, less clunky) As for the power of the bike, it is very good. Upmap claim a rise of 7-9whp. Which I do notice. I found the answer: Throttle potentiometer. Quite interesting..
The Throttle Potentiometer was broken in the throttle. Which was why the throttle wasn't working. As for the bad starting issue, this must have ben moisture in a wiring harness or plug somewhere on the bike. £days into our Euro Trip which was 30+deg must have dried everything out which meant the bike starter perfectly every day. and now I have ben home for 6 weeks the bike still continues to run and start perfectly every time
