why you suck at drawing, and how to fix that

why you suck at drawing, and how to fix that
I have adhd and i think what i did to overcome my art block might help. I used to struggle with the idea of sitting for long periods of time and drawing because the amount of effort that goes into drawing with the risk of it being bad terrified me. I started by spending a minuet on drawing then 2 then 3 and id make hundreds of these drawings until i started doing big projects again. So if i didn't feel like drawing I'd say to myself "ill make 1 or 2 before bed" and usually id start making more because id get so sucked into it
When you mentioned dopamine I was like “So, um, what about those of us with clinical deficits of dopamine….” but I figured you’d have an answer for that, especially since it’s something I’m willing to be a lot of artists have
my animation teacher taught us the second exercise a bit differently: you look at a subject you're drawing and go VERY slowly along the lines it has (the contour and the most sagnificant details of it) with your eyes and simultaneously you draw the lines with the same speed without lifting your hand from the paper/with no interruption(SLOWLY and not looking at your drawing, this exersise realy helps to establish conection with what you persive with your eyes and what your hand can repeat. and yes, the actual drawing whould be messy, but that's ok,its just an exersise)
Man you're awesome. Stumbled on this video because I was bored in between my computer science studies, and trying to find something fun to watch (I'm thinking about using drawing as a creative vessel for myself, except that I'm terrible at drawing). Your video gave me a lot of feelings, but the main one is: motivation. You take things so lightly, with this soothing voice. You just got another subscriber for sure sir!
Me with untreated ADHD just being left behind even if I want to do create
Few yrs from now you’ll laugh at ur drawings lol
Few yrs from you’ll laugh at ur drawings trust me
Art is observation. My grandfather said: The more you relax and stop thinking or pre judging the subject matter the better you'll be.
you can also squint or blur ur vision idk if yall are also able to out of focus your own eyes but i can and it helps with values in portraits
Love your progress you've really gone far... just a little more king
So no video games I guess :/…
good vid but you fucking yapping ☠️
Make sure I exercise to improve my Art??? Damn... that's why i got into art, because I hate exercise! LOL...
Alan Alda cameo!
Bro really put Mesut Ozil and no one realized
“The goal is not perfection” I needed to hear that. I have a problem where I need every line to be perfect and I end up being dejected after every session because I’m not perfect.
As a 3 yr old i used to draw alot, trying to copy random things I saw even when I didn't know what they were, at around grade 6, I never considered myself good in art, I rarely even drew and didn't even enjoy art as much as others seem to but I saw myself doing alot better than the other kids, I kept seeing others fail at drawing obvious things, I even tried to help them but they kept making the same exact mistakes, I always wondered why can't they just see what I see, I realised awhile later that they were unable to understand 2 concepts 1st as described in this video "draw what you see, not what you think you see" Secondly, visualising what you want to draw in 3d instead of forcing it as a still image in your head Honestly, *Anyone* can draw as long as they grasp these 2 simple concepts
bro this is actually really really cool i had no idea this was possible i have a feeling this is gonna change my life omg tysm for this
ok this worked too well now how do i get back to studying bro i cant keep studying and going back to drawinf so quickly
Thank you so much for these tips👍🏻

What did you do to improve throughout the year? Can you share some tutorials that helped you?
that’s why it’s so hard to be an artist with adhd 😢
Tysm for this video, answered a question I didn't knew I had, I was always so confused on why I drew stuff so weirdly or why I just couldn't draw the exact same thing even though it made sense to my brain
this is teaching me more about dopamine than drawing, and I appreciate that
3:38 so thats why im literally addicted to playing the guitar, i just wanna hear the tunes i make :D
I’m bouta become Sisyphus with this one. Keeping on pushing through💪 This advice is actually really helpful though thanks a lot.
If you have ADHD you are the dopamine defficiemt rat, at your baseline.
if he dosent say refernce
Start with the book, Dude. "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain"
Hey! Appreciate the video. One interesting thought has come to me while watching. Is it actually healthy to force yourself to love something? Say if it's unnatural for a person to love the process of drawing, but he still likes the result, should he actually pursue it instead of doing something that feels more natural and easy-going? All that brainwashing yourself sounds almost cruel to ourselves? I mean maybe you're just meant (or "wired") for smth else, but instead u might break your psyche pushing yourself like this...
that's a fair thought. but as i said in the video, sometimes you don't feel like drawing, despite that fact that you actually, genuinely, do want to get better. that's where the 'forcing' comes into play. and the idea is that it'll teach your brain to begin to feel rewarded from the effort it takes to practice and improve, which is a pretty cool thing.
What software are you using in this video? Is it beginner friendly?
Damn nice man. Love to see a genuine video. I think you made fantastic progress. How many hours did you average a week or per day?
This is one of the best videos I’ve seen in years.
I’m an art student at uni and tried this my upside drawing is rubbish but my upright drawing is great not really sure what the means look like I’m doing every right now
This is fantastic advice! Thanks
will try this ty!!!
i think this changed my life????? thank u so much wtf
i think my right brain isnt working bc tell my why i cant understand what someone means past their words 🤗🤗
How do u spend three weeks just drawing torsos istg I could never haha, what I could imagine tho if I made it like a 3 day period, 7 parts: head, arms, torso, legs, clothes, poses and perspective. For me it would definitely make it more realistic and doable, great vid tho!
Entirely agree with him. This doesn't work for my ADHD ahh tho lol. And with anyone with ADHD here's a tip. Have as many art related tasks running in the background around you as possible so you have less tasks that can distract you from drawing by sheer number.
Dear God...where did you find that female yackin' at around 3:15...with a voice like that she could get a job cutting down trees! Please delete it. This whole thing should have started at 10:44 - Actionable steps! Picasso said, "By the time I was 13, I could draw like an angel. But it took the rest of my life to learn how to draw like a child". Whoa.... And a child drawing is always balanced. You don't see that in adults work!
Bro hitting us with the jump cuts and dopamine edits in an anti-free-dopamine video. 💀💀😭😭
The whole video I was like “ he just like me fr”
I think I got depressed…. I also used to be so motivated and I would forget to eat
Hair routine??
