Starling murmuration near the Altberg factory
Переглядів 6143 роки тому
The head bootmaker recorded this murmuration of starlings near the Altberg factory in Richmond wild testing a new design of boots.
Thanks you Sir great video
Great boots..great videos..thank you❤
This year, my flat feet finally caught up with me. Your inserts are the best I have found. Thank you.
I still have my original pair which I bought soon after you started making them. Word spread fast and I popped in on my way back to Colchester to get a pair. They've been back for refurbishment but are still my best boots. When we transitioned to the Brown boot I did take a pair of yours but whenever I was in the field I wore my original black boots. I wear them in the hills in Scotland and Norway now as walking boots.
Old fruity daddy with a leather boot fetish?
Just bought a pair for me and my husband. My first. His second. Now to persuade our boys and partners to buy Altberg.
What a wonderful gentleman and craftsman, clearly knows and enjoys his trade. I came across altberg while looking for a British Made boot and after seeing this video I shall be contacting with an order.
This guy makes works of art
I love hiking..cant beat genuine military boots
Altbergs are good..so are lowa and Meindl..Aku and Hanwag
Just ordered 2 putting on brushes and black leder Gris for a new pair of Altberg Bergen boots,
Wonky sizing. I ordered the number and width I needed, and the boot to significantly smaller than it should. Probably not a manufacturing fault, but a labelling problem. And the store refused (absolutely told me to go away, no refunds). So I've got an expensive pair of nice looking ill fitting boots.
Brilliant
Please make more videos, you guys are unique and amazing. I bought my first pair of Altberg's this week (bit of an untruth, my wife bought them for an early xmas gift), after a rambling workmate said you guys were the Rolls-Royce of boots (when my Italian pair of boots gave up). I am astounded, and also ashamed, I did not know we had such a good boot maker in the UK. I am now so thankful my old boots failed and I now know where to get new boots from in the future, thank you
this was awesome, the story is worthy of a documentary
Love this fella!
My first pair are being retired this month after about 12 years and many adventures. Second pair on their way
What's that flap tab on the back heel for?
Should you also add polish at times?
Not needed..just leder gris
What a shame you moved to Italy. Will go for Scarpa's hope you reconsider making everything in Italy.
What an odd comment. He clearly says in the video that boots are made in both Italy and Richmond, UK.
@@AlienApe. Vast majority if not all are made in Italy, emailed the company to ask
Very beautifull and interesting storie!Thank you Sir. Greetings from France!
Aren't Alt Berg boots all made in Italy?
Im not very good a pussy-footing around a subject, so at the risk of upsetting you. I will come straight out and say that your 'Lacing' is wrong on most the boots. I you'd like me to explain how and who's you should copy, then i will get in touch. If i were an active soldier in theatre, then i wouldn't choose these because i be scared of being dead before I'd got my boots on.. or off, for that matter. The fix is Super easy at zero cost.
I've had my Malham boots for 18 months now. They are the best boots I've ever walked in. Wonderful. It's true! They want to walk.
this was so helpful, thank you. I didn't know what to do with my new boots and couldn't tell the difference between the two.
Does anyone know how to tell if my altberg boots are made in the uk or Italy?
I could listen to Mike all day. You dont need to be into boots/bootmaking to take something from his videos. What an inspiration 🙂
How often should you do that to your boots? I just bought my first pair of Altberg
Every time they get wet
Thank you❤
Interesting story but music too loud.
I’ve six pairs of altberg, Worn my Desert microliter 3x for a couple of hours at a time and the left boot constantly has something pushing from inside out… I wear genuine desert socks - never use fabric conditioners, my Miendl, Belleville or Magnum desert have no issue! Reseller and alt berg never respond!
This is one of the most honest and inspiring videos I’ve ever seen. I’m so happy with my two pairs. Thank you Altberg and thank you Mike.
the vibram sles wear fast and are thin rendering this a 6 month lifspan product, buy better
Thanks for the insight.
Just bought some Malham boots and yes, the role on the forefoot was noticeable from the off. The heel feels nice and generally comfortable throughout. Looking forward to my first walk in them.
I have really wide feet and have a hard time finding boots that fit. I'm very thankful to Altberg for making boots that are genuinely comfortable. I've tried them all, Lowa, Danner, etc. If you're in the same boat, It's likely that their A-Form Extra-Wide or G-Fit will fit you. In addition, my dominant foot is 1/2 bigger than my non-dominant foot. You can custom order boots from the factory as a split size.
best set of boots money can buy, thank you for all you do.
The leather on mine is splitting and I've tried all kinds to stop it but no joy
I used issue boots on a exercise, came back and brought my own, Danner boots they were good, got the Altberg , they are very good indeed,,look after them and they last
If anyone ever asks me what make my boots are I always proudly say Altburg opps. Once you've had a pair of Altburg there is no going back. I am now on one of the latest A form military boots. It's a higher leg one. I got measured up at the shop 10 miles from where I live. I went to collect and they were perfectly comfortable the minute I put them on. I had no break in period. They are good for a 10 hour day doing field archery or walking. They are waterproof to the top of the boot. I don't understand why they are less popular. I had the old defender boots for many years but I love these. I'm not military. These boots are the best quality in the world. Proud Yorkshire company. As we all know unless it's from Yorkshire it's sh...
Unless you're talking music or football when obviously Yorkshire is sh1te and Lancashire rules, even my ex Yorkshire wife agrees. I'll give you the alrbergs though. Great kit.
I had no idea that the gloss is bad because it stops breathability! I've always maintained boots as I was shown in cadets as a boy, I had no idea that gris is the way to go!
Never heard of waxing your laces! Great bit of advice
Will attract dust and dirt I'd think
Love my defenders! I've got the 2nd generation ones.
Please keep doing what you are doing. I have worked on the "front line" for many years and have worn so many types of boots. I wore the "combat high" when they were first issued, a blessing after dms and puttees but your boots put the combat high well into the shade. Your boots and the quality of construction is second to none and thank you for that. Your lacing system is the best by far, when you are behind the wheel you need to be able to flexy your ankles and your boots allow that. You have scored a direct hit in your manufacturing and may you please continue to do so. Thank You.
He's a Yorkshire man, he's not only cleaning his application brush to keep it ready for use he's also avoiding waste.
The work ethic on this guy is amazing. I love Altberg
partly the reason I bought my wife a pair of Altberg’s whilst we were on holiday In Keswick was this very story the assistant told me, imagine my delight when it dawned on me that it was the old shoe factory up on the trading estate in Richmond less than a mile away from where I’d been brought up( I’ve lived in Scotland for 34years). I particularly liked the Black Sheep mention , a very fine beer indeed, and even better was the idea of you supping a pint in The Black Lion, I used to work behind the bar there in the 80’s when I was a student. A real trip down memory lane. btw my wife absolutely loves her Alberg’s, up here in Scotland she uses them every single day walking the dog on the fells and also for bagging Munro’s and has never had a moments bother from the second she put them on….absolutely top notch craftsmanship. Thanks for taking the time to tell the amazing Altberg story.
The volume idea of width fitting is bad for feet because it inevitably still squeezes toes inwards on a natural foot, even if there's lots of room elsewhere.
Do you make the boots with an upside down hook on the tung to prevent the tung from moving whilst walking . Reason I ask is since buying a pair of German Bavarian boots which has an upside down hook , I realise how beneficial it is . I Would love to see your boots with this little detail. 👍
As someone who has only ever owned full-grain, goretex mountain boots, boot are was always simple. Clean well and wax heavily with a beeswax product. When I bought some breathable boots for the desert I was at an impasse because I want to care for the suede, and keep it in good condition without cracking, but I know that waxing will kill the breathability. I was having a hard time finding information on how to care for suede, and found this extremely helpful, so thank you.
