    HOW does removing the liquid from the pickles keep them crisp? Salting is how you WILT vegetables 🤔🤔🤔

    • @GagneFarms

      It takes the water out of the veggie. Which will make them soggy. I have used this process for years and it works great, give it a try! 😀

    I blanch and freeze mine. But, I put an upside down coffee cup in the bottom of my square plastic tub, hold the pointed end, rest the other end on the cup, and use a cordless fish filet knife to cut the kernels from the cob. They just keep piling up in the tub. Then, into 1qt ziploc bags (1lb each) and then into the freezer. They pack flat and stack as high as you want.

      Yeah there is room for 2. Pretty big on the inside, and with the kickouts you can put all your gear in them like a little closet. We hunt two in them all the time. We are using a crossbow but I think you could get a full draw with a compound.

    New squash plants are taking off lots of blossoms no pest 🤞pepper plants are loving the cooler nights and just about doubled size & production. Same with egg plant plants doubled size n yielding lots poor tomatoes are suffering to much heat n 3x watering to keep them alive hurt, bight is setting in & production is low. Corn I yielded two ears from 12 plants n squirrels finished them off while on vacation. Dragonfruit only had 1 flower which aborted due to heat 🙏next year for lots of flowers n fruit. Got to get green house in order n bug bomb it prior to moving the plants in. Contemplating a new hot house or cleaning out a old barn to clean out repair n insulate to keep the dragon pots happy over winter 🤔lots to do before the first frost and the northern part of Pa have already dipped into upper 40s-low 50s 😮

    I live in the middle of a small N Idaho town. Every year a cow moose plants herself and her calves in my garden. Last week one of her grown babes, a handsome young bull already ate my cabbages and kale. I was really hoping to get another month out of the garden. They don't usually show up until late September!

    • @GagneFarms
      @GagneFarms 20 днів тому

      Yeah everything is about 2 weeks early this year, even for the bigger animals. That's too bad about your garden, is there any way to put up some sort of fencing?

    • @Crystal_Blue_Persuasion
      @Crystal_Blue_Persuasion 20 днів тому

      @@GagneFarms LOL. Even the calves step easily over my 4 ft fence. Neighbors have a 6 ft fence and they've got in there as well. I'm building cages now in preparation for next year. I'll leave one 4x4 ft box for the Lacinto kale they seem to prefer and plant away from more precious cabbages, where I'll put the kale for personal consumption. The cages worked to keep them out of berries, so maybe better luck next year. 🤞😊

    • @GagneFarms
      @GagneFarms 20 днів тому

      Well that's not good. Yeah it's not like you want to put up an 10' fence for them. Might be a dumb question but have you tried like a pelleted deer repellent or something similar? I know people around here use something like that in the apple orchards. Just a thought. 😁

    How long did you pressure them? I want to try myself with the potatoes were about to dig up. Thank you

    Is it necessary to scrub the cucumbers like that. I just hand wash them and called it good but maybe that wasn’t right

      That's probably fine. Just depends on how dirty they are.

    Great harvest. I was really worried about my potatoes since they started dying off early. So I went and harvested one plant and got 4.8lbs off that one plant. I think we will be good. I planted 8 red potatoes, 8 russet potatoes and 8 kennebec potatoes. Hopefully they all produce this much. Thanks for sharing with us.

      That is a huge harvest.....almost 5 pounds off of one plant! Congrats! 😆
