    New squash plants are taking off lots of blossoms no pest 🤞pepper plants are loving the cooler nights and just about doubled size & production. Same with egg plant plants doubled size n yielding lots poor tomatoes are suffering to much heat n 3x watering to keep them alive hurt, bight is setting in & production is low. Corn I yielded two ears from 12 plants n squirrels finished them off while on vacation. Dragonfruit only had 1 flower which aborted due to heat 🙏next year for lots of flowers n fruit. Got to get green house in order n bug bomb it prior to moving the plants in. Contemplating a new hot house or cleaning out a old barn to clean out repair n insulate to keep the dragon pots happy over winter 🤔lots to do before the first frost and the northern part of Pa have already dipped into upper 40s-low 50s 😮

      Yes this heat has been tough for sure. Last week in the mornings it was in the 40's. Had to run the heater in the truck going to work in the morning!

    Put a bunt pan or a angel food cake pan! Much easier

    I blanch and freeze mine. But, I put an upside down coffee cup in the bottom of my square plastic tub, hold the pointed end, rest the other end on the cup, and use a cordless fish filet knife to cut the kernels from the cob. They just keep piling up in the tub. Then, into 1qt ziploc bags (1lb each) and then into the freezer. They pack flat and stack as high as you want.

      That sounds like a great process!

    Different look at corn preservation. We usually blanch on the cob, cut em off, and freeze. I like this method

      It's pretty fast thus way. That's why we like it. 👍

    I've never made tomato sauce, what is the purpose of taking the skins off? Is that just for doing sauce? Or if I did Stewed Tomatoes, would I do the same?

    • @GagneFarms
      @GagneFarms  19 днів тому +1

      It's for things like spaghetti sauce or pizza sauce. If you did stewed tomatoes, typically you would leave the skins on for that.

    How many tomato plants do y’all have to get so many tomatoes ?

      We started with 200 this year. A few died off and I replanted a bunch from sucker's.
