We were into 60s yesterday and my trees were not happy. Hoses were dry just about 😮 I can’t wait to get back to the 40s 😊 praying for a few more run 🙏☺️
Great update, this year has had such swings. I have never spent so much time trying to keep sap from freezing to trying to keep it cool, and then repeat, wild ride for
I know, crazy year right! I think this is going to be a short season. I just don't see the Temps coming back down too quick. Plus, those buds are getting pretty swollen with the 74° days!
I've been making syrup for 3 decades now and I too had all my sap freeze solid. No harm done tho, melted down a bit, so I could get the sap out and through the ice away. I checked the sugar and it was 4%. Some free RO right there. I used to pour the sap in a funnel. Last year, I bought a 12 volt transfer pump from Harbor Freight. It made the sap collection a lot easier. Sucked it right out of the bucket and into the funneI. I enjoy your videos, and good luck with your sap season!
Don’t beat yourself up here in Western Maine same deal this year only have had one boil so far it’s 9 degrees this morning. Guess it’s off to another project have a great day like your videos
This is my first yr doing syrup,we started 3-4weeks ago taping and ended up with around 390 gallons of sap and after boiling forever we got alittle under 10 gallons of syrup. Our next step will be getting a reverse osmosis system to cut down on boiling time, nothing better then eating of your own land.
Dude... wicked crazy winter and did not have an optimal season here in Ohio. Way to warm with these quick warmups. Did half my normal production this year on 50 taps.

That is awesome! It sounds like you guys are doing great! It is so much more rewarding making things that come off your own property! 🙌
And here I thought I was the only one getting blue jays in my sap buckets.....
Hahaha.....those pesky little birds! lol There is always something interesting in the buckets every year!
