Nice tributes. I remember having a poster of Orlando Cepeda hanging in my room when I was a kid. At a sports celebrity golf tournament I was fortunate to get Willie Mays autograph, even though it was basically illegible. I put an arrow next to it signifying it was Willie Mays. The baseball card in the tribute to Mike Brumley is from 1966 and is of his father when he played for the Washington Senators. Thanks!

As a former player , born and raised in sunny South Africa now turned to coaching and umpiring..I am happy to report that baseball is alive and well on our country. Reading the obituaries of those wonderful household names who have left an indelible mark on our sport, is sad indeed. But fills us with gratitude for the amazing memories. 🙏

In the past, players used to play for their club until they retired from the game, but now they run after money or fame and do not care about staying and rarely stay.

I'll never forget that Roman Gabriel played a headhunter on Gilligan's Island.

I recall John Madden stating during a game that he thought the best all-around football player in the NFL was Larry Allen. The discussion had originally started out with Pat Summerall as a question about who was the best offensive lineman. If John Madden says that Larry Allen was the best football player in the NFL at the time, that's good enough for me. God rest all of these men's souls.
