Roberto Clemente should also be included. A great ball player and and even better human being.

Without question, the best baseball player of all those mentioned here and sadly not recognized for that. The word "tragically" is over used here and used questionably, but would be appropriate in his case.
Have to give this video a thumbs down just for not having Roberto.

They left out Alfredo Edmead minor league star in the Pirate organization after diving for a ball in right field and colliding with the 2nd basemans knee . He was the heir apparent to Roberto Clemente in 1973-4

Ironically, Yordano Ventura was a friend of Oscar Tavares, and even commemorated his friend during a game.

I believe he did for Jose Fernandez as well so unfortunate that he would also end up passing away

Danny Frisella's widow served on our City Of Foster City, CA city council for several years including Mayor. She once told me I found it interesting noting Danny's death as I guess just a lot of people were not aware of his tragic death.

In 2008, while visiting Rockville, MD, I read about a school bus-train crash that happened there years ago that killed a bunch of high school kids from Williamsport, MD. Well, I thought, Williamsport will soon have something to feel good about because a player from there is one of the top pitching prospects in baseball. Unfortunately, that was Nick Adenhart, and if you watched this video, you know what happened.
As for going back just to January 1, 1977. the video missed 3 of the 4 major lesguers who appeared in the 1976 season but died the following offseason, probably while it was still 1976. The other three were Danny Thompson, Mike Miley (yet another player from the seemingly cursed Los Angeles/California/Anaheim Angels) and Bob Moose. In addition, someone who managed in 1976 but I believe had already announced his retirement, Danny Murtaugh, also died that offseason. Murtaugh and Moose were both with the Pirates. (Wow, 3 of the 5 were called Danny, including Frisella.)
Three pitchers who appeared for the Phillies in the 2004 season were dead by 2008: Cory Lidle, Josh Hancock, and Brian Powell. I'm guessing that Powell was already out of baseball by the time he died.

Heavy emphasis on deaths in since the 1990's with nothing prior to 1977. Obviously things didn't start then. Certainly a bit of a sin to not include the great Roberto Clemente. Another much earlier name of note would be "The Golden Greek, Harry Agganis of Boston University and Red Sox fame.

This video is a testimony of what alcohol, drugs, and irresponsible behavior result in. To call it a tribute is a farce. Most of the players mentioned caused their own demise !
