    I think if Walt walked into Disney World and saw people eating their lunch on a trash can, he would be pissed! He wouldn’t be happy about people not having a proper place to sit when they want/need to.

      You know what...you have a very valid argument here! He seemed like a very hospitable man and the thought of guests eating food off the top of a garbage can would probably make him question everything lol

    Thanks again for another great video, I fully understand what you guys are trying to say about the Das pass. I would love to know more about the changes to the pass so I can help Travis enjoy our trip to the best of our ability. Love y'alls content and can't wait for more! Also it's go grey in May for brain cancer and tumor awareness as well, so we are celebrating the achievements made in the research of these conditions.

    It never fails to make me laugh how much Tim sounds exactly like my husband. I bet even more so during the cut out portion 😂😂. You both made lots of good points and did a great job taking on this topic. You can’t please everyone so just keep being you. Universal Studios definitely offers military much better deals. 4 day Military Disney pass is $369. Universal Studios Annual military pass is $210 for the whole year.

    So it’s been a while since we have stayed at Shades of Green, but will be staying there later this year….since the walkway is gone, do they provide more busses in the morning & throughout the day? I’m debating between Rope Dropping or Stacking for later in the day & extended hours so we can sleep in… thx!

    • @battlegroundbiscuits
      @battlegroundbiscuits  5 місяців тому

      We have noticed that over the course of the past year the bus schedule has adapted to the change well. When the news first broke a year ago in April it was a little chaotic but I think the kinks have been worked out, buses added where they were needed, etc. We are sleep in people lol That being said, we have rope dropped from Shades before and have videos on that if you want to search for those on the channel and see how it went for us. Of course, everything we share is our experience so it could be different for anyone else. We just prefer to get our sleep with the sun is up and stay later when its cooler. Overall, we have never had any issues with the bus system and always find the drivers to be exceptional!

    impressed by this great summary. we'll said. ... Disney is a business and thankfully Roy was there to rein on Walt or there'd be no Disney company at all. Genie+ is cumbersome but it may be the cheapest fast line cost anywhere. it cost less than Universal, SeaWorld, Dollywood and Six Flags

    • @battlegroundbiscuits
      @battlegroundbiscuits  7 місяців тому +1

      Thank you so much for saying that! Every dreamer needs a Roy 😂 I always say I’m a Walt and Tim is a Roy lol And that’s a good point about the “fast line” prices! Comparatively speaking it’s not such a bad deal. It’s just hard for people to forget it used to be free. Well…”free” bc I’m sure it was always calculated in the ticket prices somewhere

    According to my sources:
    1. DAS: When Disney introduced Genie+ & LL, they publicly claim that the DAS pass increased by 3 times. Internally, it is more like 8 times.
    Which was causing complaints from the people who payed for Genie+ and wee still waiting in longer lines for them.
    It is all a money grab.
    2. Shades of green: At the time that Disney sold the property to DOD, it was a failing hotel, and it was a way to make the books look good, and offload it.
    You need to remember that it was one of the first hotels, but when all the other hotels were build, it was loosing money for Disney.
    In hind sight, Disney would never of sold it to the DOD if they new how valuable its location is now (e.g. prime spot for DVC, again a money grab).
    3. Walkway: Internally, Disney was getting complaints from guests, at the Polynesian, that "Those people" were causing them to wait for transportation, in the morning.

      yeah people are said it is more than 3 times for sure. But I still want to know were major who used it people who abused it vs. people who needed. I would said a good chunk of people actually needed and either in the past did not know about the System or use the Free Fast pass. Honestly think the free fast pass needs to come back. At least should be a free fast pass for passholders. But I think if I was them, I would make it so Free Fast passes are back but has the time when you go while Genie+ is still a thing but you have pay for Each line wait in but can go in whenever you want. Not perfect but I think it will most people happy.

    Walt Disney supported the military and did numerous artwork with military themes, the walkway was closed due to the construction on the new DVC tower at the Polynesian. I have stayed at Shades of Green when I was younger because my father was military and now as an adult we are DVC with 8 direct home contacts with one being the Polynesian. The walkway was never guaranteed to be there so I’m not sure why people are upset. With us owning at the Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary , the Grand Floridian, and the Polynesian the monorail for the results are always congested. The DAS has become abused with people using it instead of purchasing Genie Plus if someone truly has a disability and needs it I don’t see why you wouldn’t care that you need to prove that you need it. So many things have become abused from the scooters to the DAS pass.

    I think you're a bit misinformed on DAS. If you've ever been through the process you'd know that ultimately who qualifies for DAS is decided by Disney PERIOD. Is there people abusing the service? Probably. Who's fault is that though? Disney's. I'm a long time guest at WDW (7 times over 30yrs). I've seen a lot of changes. This year is the 1st time we used DAS. My 7yr old grandson is serverely Autistic. There is NO Privilege/Perk. Simply all it is is allows you to wait the same exact amount of time as the standby line only somewhere else. If the standby is 55mins then it's 55mins for DAS too only it could be in the restroom, walking around, eating ice cream etc. When you come back at the appropriate time, you check in and use the Lightning Lane/Genie+ entrance. The only way for people like us to visit WDW is to... Either use DAS or Buy Genie+ or for us and everyone else in the standby line to have to deal with his fits/tantrums which is not fair to us OR everyone else. That only leaves DAS, Genie+ or not going at all. Let's get real here. At the end of the day, Disney is all about making money. They're a business, they need to do that to survive. Gouging the customers is completely different. That's a double edged sword. You piss your customer off enough, they don't ever come back and tell everyone they can. That's where we're at today. Taking something that used to cost nothing and now charge for it (Genie+) and all it is is another line that cuts the first one. So, rather than add more capacity or build a bigger ride, they add another line? Which succeeds in pissing all the people off in the standby line. Good thinking Disney. All this crap about changing DAS and abuse is nothing but complaining by Disney about losing potential Genie+ money. Oh and BTW, the wait times in the MyDisney app are created by Disney, they're actually not even close to accurate which is pushing people to buy Genie+ when they don't need to. The system's rigged.

    Sadly I could not even make through the whole video, there are so many things wrong with the premise. The walkway removal is easily explained, the expansion of World Drive makes crossing a pedestrian hazard. DAS was never a military based accommodation, rumors and speculation of changes being anti-military, does not provide the best optics on service members. These issues are really not hard to remedy, if the walkway is that big of a problem with your Disney stay, choose one of the other Disney properties that meets your access needs. We chose to stay at Boardwalk, so we can walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, problem solved. As for the changes to DAS, a service that is most definately abused, if you lose access to DAS, there is always Genie+. Disney is not in the business of medical screening, DAS was based on the honor system, keeping Disney free of HIPAA; asking Disney to start keeping medical records on park visitors, is ridiculous and costly. Besides the data storage requirements, the personnel with access to the records must also be healthcare providers. The saddest part to all of this, is the whining coming from service members and their families, in fact it's embarrassing.

      That’s too bad you couldn’t make it through to hear some valid points on both sides of these topics. I can’t speak for others but there is no whining happening here…just an honest discussion about what solutions might help the process on both the consumer and the corporations sides. Maybe it was lost in translation but we don’t believe Disney hates the military, we have zero expectations with the walkway or with the DAS pass system and will continue to visit SOG and Disney either way. This video was to address the opposing ideas that we have read in comments on other platforms and from outside sources. ✌🏼

    I am a Disabled Veteran and suffer from PTSD. The previous DAS program was a great service.
    But I have to say your example of a PTSD episode is a gross oversimplification of PTSD. It’s not about anger and outbursts. Going straight there is a stereotype of PTSD. Sure anger happens sometimes but fear, panic and hopelessness are way more common emotions that pop up. I’ve rarely gotten to the point I wanted to fight in a park but panic and fear happens a lot depending on the context
    DAS was a great resource when I went to the parks and I’m honestly worried about our next visit if I don’t have that resource any more.

    • @battlegroundbiscuits
      @battlegroundbiscuits  3 місяці тому

      @@bigcountry0331 ok, respectfully, I hear you and completely understand you and what encompasses a PTSD episode. The guy in the video, my husband, also suffers from PTSD. He is a disabled Veteran as well and we visit the parks a lot. As I said, not everyone’s disability looks the same. At no point did I generalize ALL people with PTSD or simplify any reaction.
      The context:
      In response to a comment we received on another video I was giving one example of how someone with anger and outbursts should know themselves better than to get in a line longer than they can handle. The previous commenter was saying that if they get denied DAS but go stand in line anyways, proceed to shit themselves and on everyone else in line, that it’s somehow Disneys fault. And that is a common attitude people have at Disney. I went straight to anger and outbursts in my example bc that is something that unfortunately my husband deals with in addition to the fear, panic and hopelessness. The example was never meant to assume that everyone with PTSD struggles with anger more than any other triggered response and it certainly wasn’t to define or stereotype the disability. I was using our personal experience as a reference point.
      I sincerely hope you get the accommodations you need for your next visit. The previous DAS program was a great service until it wasn’t anymore. It was an abused system. Disney is trying to do something about that now so that it works better for the people that truly need it and that means in order to use the program you’ll have to be extremely transparent with your experiences. My husband was able to do so with the cast member when he applied a couple weeks ago and because of the multitude of issues HE struggles with he was provided the new DAS pass. Some people with PTSD have also been denied. So, diagnosis isn’t the only factor in this system anymore. If you get denied I would encourage you to speak with another cast member and try to explain your challenges in depth. Alternatively there is a new Lightning lane multi pass and single pass that will get you through the lines quicker as well. We used those in combination with the DAS pass and it worked out great. I hope that clears up any feelings or concerns you have. Best wishes to you!
