Pleinement d'accord avec ASerranobaritone et Marx. Quant à la versatilité de Callas relevée par tant de critiques "bien intentionnées" (!!!) il s'agit moins d'un défaut que du reflet, sur tous les plans humains, de la richesse de sa personnalité - donc, dans son cas, d'abord musicale et vocale. Par ailleurs, les chanteurs lyriques, travailleurs infatigables, ne sont pas des dieux. Parce qu'ils sont humains, ils peuvent être très "journaliers". À l'inverse, parce qu'ils sont humains, et précisément dans le précieux enregistrement présent à tout jamais, et en raison de toute l'antériorité de leur Art, ils atteignent des sommets insurpassables que nous nommons "divins". Merci d'avoir gardé l'enregistrement de cette répétition (en réalité tout un monde) et de nous l'offrir en partage.

In 1952, and even in the early 1954 Lucias at La Scala, there is no wobble on the B-flats, the trills and fast and free, and the high E-flats just pop out of her, free and ringing. In this performance, as well as the famous Berlin Lucia, there is the infamous wobble on the sustained high notes, the trills are tighter and slower, and she skips the first Eflat and only goes for the final one. Interpretively, her mad scene was breathtaking even from her very first performance in Rome, with insights and accents that have yet to be equalled by any other performer.

That is a masterclass of Bel Canto.!!!!!! ♥♥♥Maria was able to blend high and fast coloratura with increible dramatic skills. One of the few singers completely respectful of the adequate musical line, her legato flowless voice, high staccati in pianissimi...my God ...she had no possible comparison, the real Diva ♥♥♥who was capable to convey thousands of emotions in one musical passage. She faced the most difficult passages with such a stunning heroism and determination, I love CALLAS from my 15´s and after 45 years realize she seems greater every day because she took into account every detail, she dealt with hard arias in such an authentic way that she didn´t take any shortcuts....actually unique , stunning and breathtaking soprano!!♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

26 лет отроду и так петъ! Это дорого стоит, значит не зря лишила себя детства ( правда нё без помощи своей деспотичной матери) . И петь с 13 лет...., чтобы через 13 лет( 26 лет) выдать такой шедевр, " Норма» . И планку, которую она подняла для себя, а кто может лучше и выше сделать? Да никто! Кроме самой себя. А теперь ответьте мнё и себе тоже . Каллас Феномен ... Да...! Каллас - Великая? Безусловная.. Да! Сёйчас я перечислю ещё несколько эпитетов:- реформатор, интерпретатор., голос 4 в одном, восстановитель старых опер- бельканто, драматическая актрисса, а заодно и лирическая певица, обладатель внутренней и внешней красоты, музыкально образованный на вы сочайшем уровне человек, педагог от бога... , обладатель очень красивого и благородного голоса.. И вот ради всего этого можно было нести жертву своей жизни.. Да.. Да.. Да.. Но не для всех , только ей, потому что Каллас исключение из правил. Вот почему она единственная на всем земном шаре. 🤔👏👏🙏

Always found this aria quite boring. Amazing what a bit of Callas' spice can bring to it! All of a sudden so much more colour, interest and dynamic range. You can immediately hear that even following what is written, like she always does, already makes a great difference. And then adding her impeccable taste and profound knowledge of performing tradition.
