Legitimately the only Medea we will ever know and get a true glimpse into the true story of who she is and what she represented. I "listened" to bits of the recent tackling of the role by Sondra Radvanosky and to say that even late-Callas vocally obliterates her in the role is just an understatement.
This is a sad state of affairs for the world of Opera today that live recordings of the past stars are better and represent true vocal traditions and true vocal techniques that stood for belcanto traditions.

No kidding! I also listened to bits of the current Met revival. It doesn't come close to this - much less feeling, much less power, much less beauty... None of the dramatic tension the opera has in spades, that Callas was so good at bringing out. To add insult to injury, all the writhing they made Medea do is just awful.

A bit late in her career but she absolutelly adored the role and gave it her all. During that time Corelli was studying the role of Giasone especially in hopes to sing with her a Medea.. can you imagine ?
