Did anybody know if the Sf23 F1 ferrari 1/18 by bburago is also metal diecast?
This was not one of Ferrari's best nor prettiest cars, imo. The F-87/88 was nice.
Definitely not a performer. Lead 1 lap all season I read. I cannot explain why I like this shape because it is kind of "piggy" looking. I do love the 87/88 first one I saw in person back in Detroit. GP looks to be remaking the 87/88 with driver figures next year so also looking to see if they upgrade the carbon on the floor board. They printed it on those early cars. Thanks for watching and commenting. Always appreciated.
Damn, two stunning models and look first class as GP Replicas seem to be. And, you got (2) really low sequential models. Congrats. Your knowledge of all things F1 is exceptional. thanks again for the clarification on my two models. Also, sounds like another Ferrari that was trying to kill off their drivers.
Hahaha it was a bad car for sure. Finished 2nd which looks good on paper but lead 1 lap all year long? McLaren clean house that season. I am struggling with indecision about which drivers to keep and what not lately. I have the same issue on an 84 I just picked up and will hopefully get a video out this week. Have backlog of Ferrari purchases but just got some non Ferrari cars to hopefully break up the monotony. Would expect to see some 2024 cars maybe early January I hope. I think most viewers want to see the current year stuff. Definitely happy to help on your question. I am still shocked the RB is shorter! In my mind the Merc was shorter but it clearly is not. Ferrari was the same as the Merc. As always thanks for watching and commenting. Good to connect with a fellow enthusiast.
Always a pleasure to connect with another collector and reviewer. Like you, I buy in batches and only unwrap the model just before reviewing . Watched a great video from Mercedes on the safety features of their and all current F1 cars. Not unsimilar to sports car racing.
I heard the height of Spark models is too high? can you confirm or deny?
God I love Red Bull, any year. I have a ME problem as well. I have 10 cars in my latest cart and typically do 4 a month. Sometimes a model sells out before I get it. One, the Oliver Bearman of which I just haven't pulled the trigger. Just can't do Mini Champs(1/43) due to the cheap checkered flag bases and box design.
Hahaha… as a Ferrari fan it is hard for me to love RB but I am very much looking forward to the early season RB that looked a bit like the 2023 Merc at the engine cowling. Will be buying two since Max is again Champ so need one for my team case and one for the WC collection. Still waiting on a second 2023 as I want the blue WC helmet version but I don’t want the double set. I am feast or famine.. I go months with nothing then buy a bunch. Nothing all summer and 4 orders in the past two months. As always thanks for watching and happy collecting
@@mycarcave6214 we suffer from the same disease.
I have a couple of formula one questions for you. However, based on this video, as I suspect you know that my area od expertise is in GT race cars, IMSA, SRO, WEC and others. I have a video on hiw to tell IMSA pro and pro am entrires, LMP2, LMP3 and DPI. As you also know, Im new to F1. I recently aquired 2 Spark 2014 models, one Mercedes an the other RedBull. The Red Bull model is noticeably shorter than the Mercedes. Is that possible or are one of my models a poor casting. Being Sparks, I would be shocked if one was a poor casting. I did have a couple of IXO 1/43 scale Ford GTs that were so bad, very fat and short, that I gave away and of my more popular videos focused on that.
I have watched some of your videos and while I like LeMans and Endurance I am definitely not as up to speed on the nuances as you are. I enjoy learning from your videos on those topics. Yes it is possible they were different lengths. I am traveling so I can't check my 1/18th but my recollection is that the Merc was the shortest on the grid and a quick look online shows the Red Bull should be about 10in longer. Red Bull had that weird black nose that extended out. From what I understand there is not reg of overall length, just width and height, but they had a nose height regulation that led to many of the cars that year having a "proboscis nose" on the front. So it is odd that your Merc is longer than the Red Bull. That would surprise me from Spark.
@mycarcave6214 Oddly it is the Red Bull that is shorter than the Mercedes. Probably a bad casting. Happy Thanksgiving
Ok so just checked my 1/18th and the RB is shorter than the Merc in wheelbase and tip to tail. The front wing is about half the distance up the Mercs front wing. Add the black nose tip on the RB and still shorter… proves my memory is bad and what I read online also seems faulty🤔. Sorry for the miss information, enjoy the models they seem correct!
Thanks...really bugged me .Still can't beleive that two F1 cars could be so different.
It is surprising but from what I read the length was flexible but height and width are more defined in the rules. So you could have variable wheelbases and ultimate car lengths on the grid. It is less the case in the current regs and most cars are very similar in length and wheelbase. Every iteration of the rules has defined the “boxes” more tightly so now cars look nearly like spec racing such as Indy. Most of the differentiation happens in between the wheels in the side pod rear engine cowling area. New regs for 2026 will make cars smaller thankfully… I can’t recall if it will be similar to the 2014 regs. 2017 to me is when it got really out of control. So I am looking forward to the change.. plus more room in the display case😆
Do you know where you got the '08 Renault from? Been on the search for one
At this point would have to be Ebay. I purchased it when it first came out from a shop in Germany. I have not looked for one in a long time but ebay would be your best bet.
Hy. Awesome model. How do you put the decals? I have the same model and cant unstick decals from paper
Hi, They should be water slide decals. So you should just cut out the decal you want to place (no need to cut close to the decal it is already pre cut) then set it in luke warm water for 10-20 seconds. At that point you should be able to take in out of the water and slide the decal off the paper with you fingers or a paint brush. Then slide it into place. You will want to used a paper towel or tissue to wipe off the excess water and adjust into the correct location. Some times I use Microsol or Microset to help secure the decals but that is not necessary. Hope this helps.
Respect!!!!!!
Thank you...decades of collecting and love to share it
Great review. You sold me. I'm buying it now 😂👍✌️
Thank you. They do a great job. Plus the are super quick so you can already get 2024 early season versions.
great model, great review. I have the same model in 1/43.
Much appreciated. One of my favorite looking current reg F1 cars
You are the master of cool. I've had a few F1 models in 1/18 scale that arrived broken and were not entirely fixable. Now I shake every box and, if I hear nothing great. If I do I get sick kick in the gut. Expectations from Looksmart are always great due to the high price and most of the time they meet it. Its been my understanding that Spark makes LookSmart models of which would explain the similarities. In regards to the door latches, Spark, even in 1/43 scale, make individual pieces on all of their prototypes. Congratulations on your very cool purchase, and thanks for sharing.
hahaha...thanks! Over the years I have learned to fix. If I had more time I would build models like when I was young. It happens infrequently but surprisingly it happened twice lately. I have another box with a hole in it waiting for me when I get home. Hoping that does not have something broken in it also. This was a really good model and super happy with it. The details and decals are really good. Paint work is tops. Looking forward to picking up a 2024 LeMans Winner and hopefully a yellow Austin winner!
@@mycarcave6214 I never received a broken 1/43 scale race regardless of brand. I have broken several from poor handling or removing a model from the base, to review and then putting it back on. Formula One is another ballgame. I have received 5 broken out of 20 purchased. Thats 25%, not very encouraging. I suspect that the suspension is very fragile, when they break from shipping and bounce around the box, they take out pitot tubes and aerials. Very disturbing. I've pressed seller for refunds or compensation, and they have been very cooperative.
Very nice model. I’ve preordered the bbr race worn version. Historic victory! Had to be done…
Nice... I will have to see that one. Definitely historic. Considering a 1/12th given its historical significance. Will see if I can catch it on sale at some point
I would have returned it.😂
I am mostly ordering from overseas so while I am sure i could it is more of a pain. When something that just needs glue I will manage. Lucky to not have paint damage or decal damage. But your right it should arrive in good condition.
Bburago needs to release the Sf23 Las Vegas car in 1:18, I can't wait 😂. Great review and comparison 👍
They have recently release the Vegas car as well as the 2024 Miami car. I am holding out for a BBR version but will wait and pick one up hopefully on sale at year end. (missed on the Black Friday sale unfortunately)
Question: Does Mini Champs make BBR? I was under the impression that BBR was related to LookSmart of whom was made by Spark. Am I right or wrong or completely misinformed. I have a LookSmart Ferrari SF1000 review coming up. Great model but not overwhelming as I was hoping for. Perhaps it was the livery that was not particularly exciting like other teams. Like you, I believe that BBR and LookSmart should be outstanding in every regard and, they almost are.
I am not 100% sure but I am sure at some level they are all the same. What I understood was Looksmart and Spark are partners and BBR and Minichamps have a relationship for the distribution of the Ferrari F1. I do not think Minichamps and BBR collaborate on anything else. I think it is a work around for Minichamps on the Ferrari License. What I also remember hearing was BBR and MR are related in that each company is headed by a brother. Something to the effect that they had a disagreement as BBR so one of the brothers split off and created MR. BBR for a long time was mostly Ferrari while MR was mostly Lambo. That has evolved and they make both. I do not collect those models much any more so I am less in tune to what is going on in high end resin.
@@mycarcave6214 so interesting. I've only had one dealer that shares that sort of information, Toronto Motorsports, and even they say the entire business is somewhat secretive. particularly when it comes to the number of models built. They have told me that distributors reach out with models being produced, and place orders of which meet or exceed the numbers of models built. Apparently, they make far more Formula One models than sports cars because of the short run of F1 models before they are changed every 3 months or shorter. Thanks for the information.
I received my SF23 a couple days ago. The Las Vegas gp version. Stunning car & impressed with details. Could be better with more open aero parts and cut outs but overall very good.
Nice. I plan to buy the Vegas version as well either from Look Smart or BBR. Look forward to that livery.
@ I recommend the bbr version. I personally have that one & prefer the qualitys and proportions of bbr.
Ferrari really nailed it with the subtle livery updates in 2023. Will you be getting the BBR 499P?
I want the BBR 499P but the only ones I have seen available are really expensive. So I just got the Looksmart one and working on the video for that one...needed a repair ; ) . Not sure why the BBR is so high priced but seems to be in a special box or something. So maybe a "regular" release version will be made.
@@mycarcave6214 looking forward to seeing those side by side!
When is the SF-23 Las Vegas
Would also love to see that 👍
Not sure when BBR will make it but they will. Bburago has theirs (as well as Miami 2024), I suspect Look Smart will beat BBR but I am waiting and will probably grab who ever makes one first.
Used to buy every variant of my favourite drivers, but have cut to maximum of 1 car per season. I like the 2022 pink Alpine, 2022 Singapore McLaren, 2023 Triple Crown McLaren.
Me too...when I started collecting F1 I had each driver for each team they made. Eventually had to ditch that and sell one of the cars. Really only Ferrari will I have multiples but even then its usually a major aero change more than a special livery. The Sinapore McLaren looks great. I will check out the Chrome one and maybe that one also. I like the one off's in isolate but in a line with a decade of one team they stand out too much. Just need more space...problem solved hahaha
Gulf livery is absolute beauty
Agree really does look good. I will look at the British GP version as well and just move the Gulf Livery to the Gulf collection in my display
Max not putting out as many helmets this season. Did get a shipping notice this morning that his 1/2 scale Arai from his 2015 rookie season is on the way. BTW, the chin spoiler is easy to put on. I am searching for helmet upgrades but haven't had much luck. The supplied tear-offs are nice but tough getting that third one on. The vent stickers are just meh, hence why I am searching for upgrades.
I can't recall if I ordered that one or not. I thought I had. I am kind of happy he did not do as much and has just one for the "American" Races instead of 3. I would buy every Schumacher variant as that is my guy but Max is not that. Do love his Orange Chrome variants though.
I just bought those exact same cars in 1/43 scale. Because they are one-off was probably my attraction to them. Excited to see what they look like in 1/18 scale
They are great. I look forward to some of the other Williams and McLaren one off's but space will dictate that I have to choose. Ferrari is the only one I bend the rule and have multiples hahaha!
@@mycarcave6214 Don't know how you do it. Have to hide my cars from my wife.
The car doesn't make 900 plus hp. It has a combined maximum power output of about 700 hp depending of bop and how it makes that power is up to the hybrid deploy settings.
Ok thank you. Will have to go back and look that up. Not sure where I saw that number but did sound high! I will eventually get a Look Smart or BBR and will correct that info. Much appreciated and thank you for watching.
Have you added a Porsche 963 to your collection? So many good ones to choose from and you wouldn't have to edit your video unless they win Le Mans soon.
I have not but will. The first batch in 1/18th where some sort of limited edition at $400euro! I see they just released the regular editions at the usual $199euro. I saw the LeMans version. I would like to get the Hertz car. Not sure if they will make the Yellow JDC Miller car that Jenson Button drove. I saw that one at LePetite LeMans in 2023. Loved that one. I saw you have a 1/43rd. Also need the WEC or IMSA BMW which has come out in 1/18th but I missed it. Was maybe TSM who made it but I believe someone else will make it also .
Visited your video once again being a sports car man and especially Porsche. I have (2) recent videos of the Porsche Collection of 1/43 scale models from the NA Porsche Headquarters in Atlanta. I think that you would find it interesting in case you have never been to Porsche NA.
Ok great I will check out your videos. I spend so much time in 1/18th land it is cool to see how much 1/43 is out there. I have not been to NA Porsche HQ recently, took one of their driver classes there a few years back but need to get down there again. Great Museum.
@@mycarcave6214 Good for you. Am thinking about doing that next year. Have a Corvette C7 that I take all the races and track it on occasion. Check out that video I have on their Porsche collection. Its amazing, the collection, not my video.
Could you a video about the anatomy of a formula one car, labeling a parts visible etc...... I've heard many talk about parts that seem the same ie. Barge Board and Floor. I did a similar video of GT race cars to help others get a better understanding of all the things that make up a race car.
Sure that is a good idea. I have a few more current cars to shoot and then some older Ferrari F1. I am looking for ways to show new stuff with out simply talking about Minichamps v Spark or quality so I appreciate that suggestion and will look to do some thing. I know I kind of free flow my videos so my technical terms do not always come out correctly but if I do I video I will research the terms more. I wish I could make a 1:1 in the Pits video like you have on the WEC cars. I went to Austin to watch them and LePetit LeMans is in my back yard but missed this year.
@@mycarcave6214 The anatomy of a F1 car would help a lot of people, especially me. Perhaps next year if you make Petit Le Mans we will have to catch up. That is just on event that I have been going to since 2019. One of my favorites.
Love this model, really prefer black. I have a lot to learn. Are you based in Europe or US/? CK Models is a German retailer, or not? I tend to buy most of my models thru Ebay, or Trax, Stone Car Models and Toronto Motor Sports.
Agree this is probably my favorite 2023 F1 model. Color and shape are fantastic. I am in the US but buy mostly from Europe because I typically buy in bigger groups to defray shipping. That said shipping from Little Boldie (France) just got crazy, though they typically had the lowest model prices. I have bounced around from Modelissimo.de, CK and Little Boldie. A long time ago I would buy from the US and Canada including Toronto Motor Sports (great guys). I have bought from Ebay and Stone Car Models also. Also depends on the exchange rate but I still find as long as I am ordering say 4+ models its most economical for me to buy from Europe.
@@mycarcave6214 Interesting. I too live in the US. Richmond Virginia. Always collected cars, starting with Nascar. Sports cars, about 2 years and F1 only a couple of months. Discovered IMSA, SRO and the WEC in 2019. Have never looked back since and go to about 8 races each year. Started doing Paddock Tours a couple of years ago. You noticed that I ride a Canyon. Been cycling over 20 years. Started racing, CAT3, and then triathlon's. Now just ride.
very cool!!
Thank you
Stunning model. you got a great number too: 031 - Car number 3, Position number 1
Wow I had not thought about that!!!! Thanks for pointing that out. I do love it. This was not one of my all time favorite Ferrari F1 cars but in this scale it really is impressive. I am very encouraged about some of the future modern 1/12th scales from GP.
Very cool model. Congratulations on your latest acquisition.
Thank you. This is really an impressive model. Way better than I expected. I am hopeful about future 1/12th GP cars going forward like the 1992 Williams FW14
Awesome looking model. GP Replicas did a really great job here. In my opinion the F300 is the best looking F1 car in history.
The model really is amazing. I never really thought of the F300 in those terms, I love the 1989/90 or the F2004 but this model made me think this is an amazing looking car for sure. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Another great model. Congratulations
Thank you! It has stupidly been in a box for a long time so was nice to get it out and actually look at it. Also finding the decals made me feel much better about it.
Beautiful model. I have the Vegas version on order but i really like the standard livery that AT had too
The Vegas version is sure to be nice. AT has a really nice livery currently and look forward to the 2024 version also. Thanks for watching and happy collecting!
Forgot AT became RB2 Visa Cash App, so not really looking forward to that one sadly. Alpine and Mercedes look most interesting for 2024 excluding some of the one off liveries.
@@mycarcave6214 I don;t know, i like the Blue, White and Chrome combo. It was nice to see a car that wasn't mostly carbon fibre at launch, so maybe that's the only reason I like it.
Your collection is wonderful. But I am wondering, how often do you clean your shelves and cars, and how time-consuming is it?
They are in closed cases so while not 100% dust proof it definitely reduce that issue. I usually dust the shelves 1 or 2 times a year. It takes a few hours as you take them out shelf by shelf then put them back. The bigger issue as another viewer pointed out is when I add new ones, shifting the exciting cars around. But in the end that is part of the fun I guess. Makes me spend time looking at cars I might not have looked at up close in a long time. Thank you for watching and commenting. Happy Collecting
Great model for the money. Thanks for sharing.
Totally agree. Yes I will get a Looksmart or BBR but honestly from 3' away can I really tell....No. So agree this a very good version for the money.
Paint colour of Spark completely wrong. Minichamps Is correct.
I go back and forth so for sure you will catch me saying both are correct. I do believe the Minichamps color looks nicer and feels correct.
Minichamps all the Life.
Hahaha...I am a Minichamps fan boy. Spark has gotten very good and the each have plus and minus'....2023 has turned into primarily Minichamps for me. We will see what happens on the 2024 cars. Thank you watching and commenting. Always appreciated.
@@mycarcave6214 I am an Amalgam/CMC fan😁. But I surely prefer Minichamps and the new Gp Replicas products to Spark Models. Personal tastes.🤷♂️
They also have te Nyck De Vries car from the British gp which also happened to be his last race. Thats why there's also a Yuki version.
I like Dee Vries but after he was booted I figured I would get the Yuki car. For 2024 maybe I will get the Lawson car? Thanks for watching and commenting. Happy collecting
Great video. Are you going to make a video on the GP-Replicas Ferrari F300 1/12 scale?
Thank you! And you guessed it the F300 1/12th just came in the other day. Have not opened it up but yes the video will be coming soon!
👍
👍
Are they planing to release the Sam Marino Version, with no spoiler on the front of Giles's cars?
I do believe they will. I understand there will be a 1/12th scale version and I have to imagine a no spoiler 1/18th. I surely would like one
Awesome! I did a video as well on the A522 of Fernando Alonso.
Thank you...I will check your video out as well!
I have done an entire video on the pitfalls collecting F1 as opposed to broken models. I agree with you that resin models are especially fragile in F1.
I will have to go and check out your video. I have gotten used to models arriving in various states. 99% they arrive fine. Every once and a while this happens and I can fix it. I think only a hand full in multiple decades was it beyond repair. My 1/12 Mercedes AMG One was border line. I repaired it best I could be it is still obvious enough. Will only matter when I sell it as I will take a big hit then. Meantime just diplay the clean side out hahaha.
I really love this model. I remember that I bought it directly when it came out in may I believe. I just love the green accents of Russell's Bahrain car, they look so good. Definitely the best looking car of last year, next to the Vegas Ferrari. Can't wait for this model to come out Great video 👌
Thank you for watching and commenting. Yes the green looks amazing. The Lewis car will be on ebay as I love this one. I guess I will get Lewis for 2024. Yep waiting on the Ferrari Monza and Vegas versions also. Still need the Williams and McLaren for 2024. Just figuring out which livery.
@@mycarcave6214 Yeah I would get Lewis from 24' as well. So the Monza version of last year's ferrari is already on sale on Ck-Modelcars but I'm gonna wait for the Vegas version because the white and red looks amazing. So if you are unsure which 2023 Williams and Mclaren to pick, I would go with the Williams-Gulf livery and the Mclaren OKX special livery, the one used in Japan and Singapore I believe, the black and orange only
Keep Both! If you need any justification i'll lend you my list of reasons 😅
Hahaha….I think you are right! But now you are encouraging an addict 😆
Nice model! Especially with the Ultrasoft tyres (the 2018 tyre range was crazy). Not every car from a CK Edition gets a pit board. They only really started this with 2023 releases. I got the re-release of the "final" race MCL33 from CK when it was released a few months ago. That one sold extremely fast compared to this 300GP car. One difference I spotted on the "final" race car was the addition of the Chandon logo on the engine cover and rear wing on the new version. That is missing on the original release
Yes they seem to sometimes have the pit board other times not. Seems this would have been an obvious one to make versus say the one for Russell mid race at Bahrain. Glad you got the “last race” version. I wish I had one in that clamshell box. It did sell fast and if I did not have one I would have bought it also. Good catch on the Chandon…I need to pick up a decal set off ebay and ad that to mine. Thanks for watching and for your comments. Happy collecting
Keep in mind, that when you take the exact paint colour of an actual car and put it on a scale model, it will appear somewhat darker than when you compare to the actual car because of the smaller surface area of the model less 'lit up' by the ambient light. It is quite possible the darker car had been done with the actual AMR23 colour but it looks less like the actual colour than the other model. Sometimes experienced modellers choose a lighter paint to give make the model visual appearance closer the the real thing. BTW, I personally like the Minichamps model overall. Thanks for the well done review video.
Good point...kind of like getting a paint swatch at the store then painting the wall...not always as expected. Interesting pointer on how modelers compensate for the change. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the insight.
Man, thats incredible. Really the most amazing collection I have ever seen (and I’ve seen a lot of ones)! Congratulations!!
Thank you very much! It's been a life long hobby. Happy I can share and find others who appreciate my passion.
