I'm just looking to not freeze to death in a Canadian winter also somewhere to charge my new enclosed scooter that requires between 0 and 45 C to charge and diesel for the diesel heater is getting expensive

    This was great how you cut the birds mouth. This was an easy way to do it, I always overthink that. Not anymore. Question, why did you use a 2x6 or 8 on the sides and then only a 2x4 on front? You can see the sides hanging down

    • @EverydayShed

      Thanks !! 2x6 is just a standard practice for sheds, plus it holds alot weight, lawn mower anything.

    Doesn't this design leave the 2x6 roof ledger completely exposed and allow water to get in behind your rear wall sheathing. Even with the drop edge and slight overhand by the rear roof drip edge. ua-cam.com/video/U38BfiHhc3o/v-deo.html

    Thank you for your video, very informative. I have a bit of constructive criticism especially for viewers who are not familiar with the terms in the building industry. Throughout your video you referred to plumb as level. Level is a horizontal term. Plumb describes the vertical term. That said, you have given us a lot of valuable information in this video. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I have built sheds and homes in the past, and you made me think about issues I never thought of before thank you. Thumbs up!

    He did it just how I’m doing it on my 12x32 Dirksen but keep in mind if you have to follow code like me you will need r30 in the ceilings so extended the 2x4 ceiling joist down to atleast 2x6 width will work. I used rough cut lumber 2x6 which gave me Exaclty 6 inches I’m gonna run 3 ft up from top plate and let it sit on top ceiling which I will use 7/16 usb first because it’s 2 ft on center . I picked up 16 sheets 7/16 on marketplace so it’s all Good then come back with Sheetrock Or however I want. I also drilled 3 inch soffit vents in each bay from under those not on side. used the same styrofoam baffles Bought the 3 inch plastic round soffit vent packs which come in 4 from Home Depot. 12 bucks. I also bought a roll of aluminum screen to place inside the plastic round soffit and silicone caulked them in place. I also placed caulk around the outside rim before pushing the 3 inch vent in place They fit tight already so no worries about them falling out. I guess I will see. South Louisiana here and with these hot summers I am just being cautious. My building came with gable vents on both end and ridge vent … I feel Like that’s plenty of air flow I also added 16ft x 32 ft lean to off the other side Ran baffles and have a perforated hardy soffit the length of lean to. Had to by code stick r30 inbeteeen them rough cut 2x6 rafters as well. Didn’t realize that after putting r19 up so had to come back over it with r13 to get to r30. For the price it was still cheaper than spray foam which I hear can cause mold and rot .. my lean to roof is metal with 2 layers of the synthetic felt on top of 5/8 osb. I wish I would have ran some 1x4 across for strapping but it’s on a 1/12 so there won’t be much strain

    Man this is a really good video on exactly how to build a lean to! This is a really nice one! Everyone who owns a home needs a place to store stuff out of the way and out of the garage. I told my wife that if Santa Claus gets me a new miter saw for Christmas, I would build her a nice firewood shed. Well I got one. After watching this video, I think I just might also build her a shed like this so she can put all of her shovels, rakes, hoes, picks and axe and other stuff in it. I think I will put an air vent in it, and the bottom 1 foot of siding will be Hardee Board, so the bottom of the siding never rots from rain splash. And of course, I'll have to build a step to make it easier for her to go into the shed. :)

    Excellent video, but there is a discrepancy between this and the pdf plans: the pdf calls for the second top plate on the sidewall frames to be 3' 8.5" and hang over. That is not the case in this video, where they are flush with the whole wall. In this video, the double top plates are added after the four walls are assembled (which, imo, is the easier approach).

    • @bethaniestephens6
      @bethaniestephens6 День тому

      I’m currently building this shed as well. The extra 3.5 inches off the side wall is to go flush over the top of the front wall. The double plate of the front wall is 7 inches short of the length of the front wall to account for the excess on both side walls
