Don't/New Man Loop Pedal Ed Sheeran View
Переглядів 1,8 тис.10 місяців тому
For this one, Ed has someone backstage turning the VOX channel on and off, as it needs to be done multiple times throughout the chorus due to it being 8 bars long. I put the presses in Yellow if it's a tech pressing the pedal, and in green when it's Ed, as near the end of the song, he takes over control of that pedal, and nobody else touches it after that.

For this video of Ed Sheeran's "Photograph" live loop performance, I added every detail that the loop pedal has to offer, all my previous videos could have been animated this way, although this video took days and days to fully complete it, and get all the waveforms split up so they could be visualised exactly how they are on the loop station. This is by far my most accurate video of Ed Sheeran...

Thanks for helping this channel reach 1000 subscribers, I've been hesitant to make a video on Bad Habits because there are a few parts that Ed doesn't do himself, either they are done with scripts, so the fifth channel turns back on and off at certain parts of the song, or someone backstage is manually muting and unmuting that channel, I've have watched many performances of Bad Habits with the ...

Just finished Shape Of You but it's been taken down due to copyright, so I'll need to remake it with a diferent source video. Thinking of doing either Bad Habits or I See Fire next, but sadly Bad Habits has some parts in it where channels are controlled automatically (Not by Ed, hence why I've been putting it off so long)

Been away for a while but I thought I'd respond to some of your comments and make the videos you've been asking for. This performace isn't 100% up to date as nowadays he does the harmonies in the bridge slightly differently, but it's the highest quality version of the song I could find. As for the the design of the loop station, since this was during his X tour, he's using the first iteration o...

Ed Sheeran's Loop Pedal In Detail You Need Me, I Don’t Need You
When I seen the music sleep better I told myself one of these days I'm going to get one no matter what because I love music
Hi, any idea why he's recording into 3 different tracks for that end loop buildup? As he isn't individually pausing them.. he could have just done it all on the 1 track. I'm guessing this is so his sound team backstage can mix each parts individually?
It's kind of that yeah, but the tracks also have Pre effects on them, the Boom track has EQ to make the bass frequencies louder, and only takse input from the guitar. The Guitar trackis a clean guitar channel that only takes the input from the guitar. And the RC20 track takes input from the guitar and his spare microphone, so you can record both at the same time
he's just looper animal looping final boss level hahaha
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Cara, que vídeo, estou aprendendo a usar o pedal e o vídeo explica muito bem, obrigado, incrível!
👍🧡🧡
Does he have an in ear monitor with a click track so he can record the first loop in tempo?
No, doesnt have a click at any point in the show, m
Hey quick question, do you know what bank means?
Hey, Ed’s pedal has 8 Tracks, but only 4 are visible at a time, Bank switches from tracks 1-4 to tracks 5-8, although in this song he only uses Tracks 1,2,3,4 and 5.
This is what I meant to comment on. No need to have the two guitars on two separate tracks. It’d be a extra pedal you gotta step on when throughout the song both are started at the sam time
True, it Could be two tracks, but it’s divided into two tracks because the first loop he records has a reverb effect on it. Here’s a video showing him doing it: www.dailymotion.com/video/x5daa9e It’s also shown at the end of the Songwriter documentary, when he’s preparing for the live shows, it’s explained to him that different channels can have different effects, and demo’ed with castle on the hill
Sweet dreams my friend thank you ❤️
Oh my goodness how wonderful Ed
Ed thank you 😢
Wonderful
I’m pretty sure he’s just utilizing two tracks. Kick on BOOM and The rest on Guitar. There’s no point in adding that extra pedal to the loop when the guitar part gets played at the same time through out the entire song.
Here's a video of him playing the song where you can see the pedal:ua-cam.com/video/u_ZzZnInODk/v-deo.html I've looked all over youtube and found many videos that show him adding layings on the guitar channel throught the entire song. The vocal part needs to be on a different channel becuase it is only played once, at the end of the chorus.
@@brodyoliverbassett7579 I don’t know how I ended up commenting on this video but I meant to comment on the one for Castle on the Hill. That one should definitely only be two tracks.

thanks so much! just found your channel bc i bought the new sheeran looper x, hope you release more vids of ed’s and your own music! i hope we can get a galway girl version! cheers!
Hey Brody, do you know why he names the third track RC20? Guitar, Boom, and Vox all make sense to me, but I can’t figure out why he names track 3 after an older loop pedal.
Hey, he names the third one after the RC20 because that loop station had no distinction between the microphone input and the guitar input (they would both be recorded together no matter what) but the other channels isolate either guitar or microphone, hence the name RC-20, it functions like the pedal does
@@brodyoliverbassett7579 Ahhh, that makes sense! Thanks for the reply. I wouldn’t have figured that out on my own, but now I get it.
Thank you for all your work on these. Really appreciate it!
Wow thank you. Always wanted to see a brake down of that song. And great job on the added graphics on the chewie board
Looks like his "VOX" wasn't working lol
The Sheeran Loopers guys really need to pay you to make more of these. Easily the best breakdown of Ed's looping flow I've ever seen.
For real bro you need a partnership
Thank you for helping me understand how the whole loop magic happens!!
u gotta make more of these vids! especially with the new sheeran loopers. 📈
seriously helpful, thanks so much! been tryna figure out how to loop with multiple tracks and this definitely helped!
Just found you. So much appreciate these video's. You are very good also ! I would like to learn looping for live gigs. Sheeran's new loopers are of interest. Maybe the smaller one for me as a beginner and because it's battery powered for busking. I believe one can use it powered also. 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
I just got the Looper X and it is soooooo nice. It follows the same logic as his stage looper with the different tracks and muting and such.
these are amazing, thank you so much. inspired to try to learn to loop, justification for the new sheeran lopper x :)
what you means by rc20
can you please make video about his pedal not. only like this
Good stuff sir!
Amazing work mate, just your subscriber’s request if you could break down “Take it back/superstition/ain’t no sunshine” performance that one’s pretty complex. Thanks mate, amazing stuff keep up the good work 👍
Hadn’t thought of doing that one. Interesting idea
Well sung mate!
can you all ed sheeran songs loop pedal view did please? too shape of you
Most people can't do Old blue eyes. Well done. #Franksinatra
Dude i can only find 2 videos of you on your channel... POST MORE you're really good. Keep it up!
At 3:08 vox channel turned onn and off for the "ahh la um laa laa" but ed was away from loop station and he clearly didn't press the button
This is mentioned in the description.
@@bloodblits1 Thanks. As described in the description, for this songs, Ed has a technician that turns the vox channel on and off throughout the song. The pedal flashes yellow when it's not Ed pressing it, and Green when it is Ed pushing the pedal
Both "Guitar" and "Boom" records the exact same thing right? Like there's no added reverb or EQ on these switches, right?
I think that the Guitar input is clean, and hte BOOM one has an EQ cutting out the mids and maybe boosting the ~90Hz frequencies
@@brodyoliverbassett7579 hmm, how about RC20 and VOX?
@@Robin_0011 RC20 and VOX dont have anything, but RC20 takes input from the guitar and mic at the same time, VOX just has the microphone's input. This isn't universal, as for different songs he has different setups, for example on the Castle OnThe Hill video, he has a Reverb effect on the RC20 channel.
@@brodyoliverbassett7579 Whaat, so he switches modes between songs?
@@Robin_0011 Yes, his team will queue up the next preset depennding on his setlist
So super geil mit dem loop 🙃🙃🙃🧡💛🧡
I honestly don’t love pop music that much, but using a loop this way is quite nice.
thank for you working so hard to make this video
Can't even imagine the amount of work needed to visualize it. Thanks a lot!
You can definitely see at 1:54 when the VOX track comes on but he doesn't hit the pedal. I wonder why he does this, surely he can tap the pedal on and off in the chorus.
He used to do it himself, in the X era, but I know from experience it's annoying to turn on and off contantly, this way he can focus on his performance more, rather than concentrating on turning this one pedal on and off (something most of the audience wont even notice takes an effort)
These videos are awesome man
Thanks for uploading this, really helpful. I know you probably won’t do this but it would be great to see I see fire
I'll do I see fire, I've started it already. Just need to find a good recording of him playing it, nicest I have found so far is the BBC Radio 1 big weekend but we'll see

@@brodyoliverbassett7579 I love you
That loop station must be like $500K (idk how you figured out what pedals he’s hitting but thx!) 😅 & I hope Ed still has his Martin guitars…the custom 0028VS looks niiice
That loop station is specially built for him, and wuoldnt cost nearly that much to build, the pedals used are repurposed Boss Twinpedals, most likelly RC20's, 6 of them, assuming you can find them, or RC30's instead. The switches, would cost around £1200, then a MIDI controller board, which let's say is £20, there are two screens in it, which could be old laptops, but will still need 2 LCD controller boards, around £25 each. And then the LEDs, other wiring and connectors on the back, around £15. The most expensive part would be the machining of the metal casing, which is custom done, I've no idea how much that would be, but I doubt it's be more than a couple thousand at most. And the looping is all done in software on a computer. He used to use Mobius, a free software for live looping, but since Chewie II, they've made a custom VST plugin to do all the looping. So it presuming you have a computer and Audio interface, it wouldn't surpass £3500. I figured out what pedals he's hiting from first listening to the performance, and hearing what tracks come in and leave at what times, and then trying to find concert videos of him playing this song so I can be more precise with the order he actually presses them in, and exact timing
This is an amazing video.
If I do a complete cover set of Ed Sheeran Songs I owe that to you! Thanks dude!
He seems to be recording the guitar all the time here.. i don't get it... What's happening
He is, he's layering the guitars through out (except for when he adds the kick during the 2nd verse) - so you notice the guitars getting more complex and progressively louder. It's the same chords so it isn't dissonant.
I have a question, when Ed stops the loop midway when playing and when he plays it again, does it start at the start of the loop or does it start where he paused the loop?
When he presses stop and then play again, it starts from the beginning of the loop
@@brodyoliverbassett7579ooh okay thanks! I was pretty curious about that since I'm looking to get a looper. Thanks!
