The Apostle Paul stressed to the church at Corinth that they have been sanctified in Jesus Christ. This was to remind them, and us, of who we are in Christ, and that it is by His grace that He is doing to work in our lives to deliver us from the power of sin in our lives.

Christ teaching His followers in the temple, takes the opportunity to open up the scriptures to them, and to give them a deeper understanding of who the Messiah was. He makes it clear that Messiah, as prophesied by King David in his psalm, is not just the descendant of David, but David's Lord - the Lord God Almighty.

In Mark chapter 15, Mark the evangelists provides us with specific details regarding Christ's crucifixion, relating to us how Christ made Himself subject to sinful humanity, and Holy, Almighty, Sovereign God to atone for our sin. When we consider how Christ was forsaken by God, it should compel us to repent of our sin, and rely totally on Christ to overcome sin.

Christ is challenged in another round with the Sadducees regarding His messianic authority, when they seek to discredit Him about His knowledge of the the scripture regarding the resurrection of the dead. Christ again responds with the clear teaching of scripture, and points us to trust Him and the truth of His word.

Paul attests to his trustworthy testimony about Christ. However, Paul makes it clear that he is to be believed not just because of his character ,but because of who Christ is, Christ's trustworthy testimony, and Christ's work in his life.

Continuing in His Jerusalem ministry, Christ is still being challenged by the Jewish leadership, and in this instance, the Pharisees and Herodians; who seek to entrap Jesus in a political dispute about paying Caesar taxes. Jesus however uses this opportunity to address the real issue of people being subject to God and giving God His due.

The Apostle Paul, in his first epistle to Timothy, emphasizes the basics of the gospel to Timothy, reminding him, that Christ is one God, one mediator between us and God, and the ransom for our sin satisfy God's wrath for our sin.
