"Pro Materials Are EASY Now! (Try This)" by Smeaf could be a decent video, too. If not for the fact his second method to add more onto plastic for some reason doesn't work for me ? (maybe it the thing with blender 4.0 being different than 3.0 version that he use ?). Aside from that what do you think about 'How to Create Professional Materials' by "Kaizen" ?
Maya is really good. If you open the software it looks like a pilot's cockpit. X-gen is amazing and i wish i appriciated the software more before it stoped working, because I pirated it. Also for blender you can find information about a bug or a problem on youtube and forums but for maya there are full time employees working in customer support and service who will help you and if you find a bug, that bug gets reported and fixed.
In the game development scene the answer can be simple: - 3D modeling: what ever the artists want to use, but usually Zbrush and Substance Painter are mandatory, then come Blender, Maya, or 3DsMax to complete the production pack. - Animation: animators and technical animators will dictate the animation system used, simple as that. If there are a few Blender animators and tech animators (riggers, etc.), the art director/producer will decide to follow a more secured path: Maya.
this is just a blenderkit addon, you're better off paying for assets on sale elsewhere
man ends the video attacking kitbashers
the house shot, the reflections and texturing on glass, windows, hdri, sharpness is sorta what gives it away, black texture on front of building kinda a bit too crushed out
your channel is awesome bro i love these vfx breakdowns!
thank u bro that was helpful
Blender is definitely industry standard for middel sized companies. Also its very good for modelling even people who come from maya agree
Nobody has stock options in blender. simple as that.
Idk I use it because I'm learning and have no money.
Call blender trash with clickbait thumbnail, asking me to sub and like a couple times, saying studios hate blender when they don't, it's more about their workflow. You really think i should like and sub? You need to earn that buddy.
Model in blender export to max and render with V ray :)
It’s clear you had a favorite right from the start of your video. As a long-time Cinema 4D user who’s also been learning Blender in my free time, I feel it’s not helpful for beginners when comparisons between the two are vague and don’t focus on the aspects that truly matter.
Because they need a company to be liable for it and to offer support. Which the blender foundation offers, as a service, but no liability.
I myself decided to pick up Blender recently on my pc, because I commissioned a buddy to make a basic model in block bench for me wayyyy back when, and only now have started to play with it. I realized I might have wanted to make a new model by scratch to better learn blender than "ironing out the kinks" of an already existing model. Following most of the donut, swapping back to the model, back to donut, and other things I left myself confused and really not sure what it is I should be doing or being unsure of what information I should seek. I have seen and heard some of these creator's videos before, and even joined blender guru's discord, but still didn't quite find the help or knowledge I needed. I just wanna say thank you, you truly are a pillar of the community, finding this information and sharing other content creators, and doing your best to help bring burgeoning artists up. Cheers to you man, you've earned my sub. (I also thought your what is blender video was informative and fantastic for people who are not familiar with 3d software or what to get first)
Thank you man! Glad to hear I helped you, in some small way, along you 3d journey!
Blender is weak in animation.
clickbait trash
This is sort of gatekeeping opensource 3D software versus paid ones.
I lost a gig just last week because the Blender to Unreal Engine pipeline for rigging and animation is utter trash and was resulting in way too many bugs and lost time.
he baically said I could give you the short anwer to why or give you a history lesson to you know make money
A gardening store employee opining on the 3D industry. I’m so glad I’m retiring soon.
Well studios do not ignore blender. I use it at work every day.
Because : Pipeline. These are like behemoth ships that do not like turning. Blender is also being used more by smaller studios a lot that have more flexible pipeline that were created with flexibility in mind.
A very very young kid not in the industry... Havent gotten Battle wounds
How much money will cost to change the whole pipeline and customs scripts to work around blender... If is not broken dont touch it. Also customer is paying for the licenses not the studio. Like any other business you pass the cost
Blender Ui doesnt reflext what the rest of normal cg packages. Like zbrush. No one want to relearn
I try so many times, coming from LW, modo, Houdini, blender ui and the whole program feels weird is harder than. Houdini to learn
Back then blender was not that great a d they did tooks around maya. But today blender is very powerful. Between blender for modeling and houdini for everything else wow!
I’ve used Blender a small handful of times professionally, and while it can do a lot of cool things and has come a long way, I checked out when you called one of the most notoriously counterintuitive software programs intuitive. 😄
Thanks Man!
Glad to help!
What about modeling to 3D print? Like making our own action figurines.
because they are lazy to think even though blender 3d is good.
I have actually seen multiple video games being released on Steam whose assets were made with Blender, as well as comments from company employees who claim that their company DOES use Blender in its pipeline. Due to its widespread use, even in some larger companies, I think that Blender is already part of the industry standard. 🙂
Senior Industry modeler. Tough part here is you are comparing apples to oranges when it comes to corporate Vs individual use. Blender is great once you have all these fun addons...well in a corporation enjoy going through legal for all of those addons. It can also start costing similar to Max depending on what/amount of addons you use. I prefer the best out of the box program I can so that if I need to work on someone else PC or travel to an offsite/vender I'm not "Oh you don't have X addon I'm lost" Sadly for me much like Maya I hate the interface so prefer MAX. But I can't say it has ever slowed me down. I will say I would like to continue to try and use Blender on a personal level because I refuse to use Autodesks subscription model much like Adobe.
This is a different industry entirely, but when I worked as a manager in logistics, our contract with our freight company gave us an 82% discount in exchange for exclusivity. I imagine these big vfx houses get similar insane discounts.
Thanks much man❤
No problem 👍
because cloth sim sucks, grrrrrrr
On the category of modeling you completely left out blenders modifiers and geometry nodes
CG fast track is also a great channel for basic to intermediate level and his sword animation tutorial is really amazing , highly recommended
Great recommendation
Blender easier to learn than 3ds max?? I think you are the only one...
Business owner perspective: Studios have invested years in development pipelines, plugins and workflows. It would cost insane amounts of money to change that if things simply work great. Not to mention the frustration you would cause to your designer by making them learn new software to “save” money. They won’t. As a 3D max and Maya user that loves Blender, Blender is not intuitive. The UX is all over the place.
Fair comment
And why do you keep making this kind of repetitive content? Instead of making real artwork.
is the same answer on why people still use microsoft office for decades, that is a generational change, not a licencing change
Blender is open source, nothing is guaranteed. Support and development is largely community based. Plugins break with every version. I wouldn't want to run my business on that foundation either.
Another factor is that Companies like Autodesk can be sued if the software messed up the work while they can't sue Bender in a similar manner.
Because it's the most unintuitive most difficult to use software that takes the most number of steps to do a simple process that I've ever used. Granted it's got some very good attributes such as GPU support for 3D acceleration, but if the program is too difficult to use, if you can't figure out how to do a particular function without spending hours researching it on the internet and it's really pretty much useless.
the video is entertaining at best, but very clickbaity and unfair. Studios are NOT ignoring blender because it is worse or something like that. They have their programs, and changing that needs justification and money is not the main problem for them. With more time, Blender is growing while all other programs are shrinking. With enough user base, you can reach the moon. Blender is unstoppable and you know that if you tried to trash out other programs, no one cares because people agree that blender is the best. Being open source makes Blender in another league, I myself can try to improve Blender, but will never care to improve the other programs even if I could
Blender is trash
