    Yay! I've been waiting for a video on the swing maxi so it's so nice to see someone making a video on this pump! Tbh I was waiting to hear what you said about it because I've really hated the swing maxi pump tbh. I've made do with it as I was mostly feeding at the breast but it's super loud that my husband jokes about it by imitating the noise 😅 I also hate hate hate the connectors that come with it! Mine were so bad at maintaining the suction since the diaphragm and duckbill have been put into one piece. I had to buy an adaptor set to use normal diaphragms and duckbills as it was driving me insane and meant I couldn't rely on this pump... I also thought the price was ridiculously expensive for all the issues I had with it! I feel like it's only a stupidly high price because of the brand name and their old reputation... I bought it in good faith and was kinda peed off tbh! Now due with baby #2 in March and a new breastpump is definitely on my list...!

    Here is my knee-jerk, instinctual, I-didn’t-read-the-pleadings-this-isn’t-legal-advice- 2 cents on the suits. The suits were filed in federal district court in CA. The Plantiffs are all CA residents. The defendant Bottle making companies aren’t all CA companies. That’s probably why it’s in federal court - diversity jurisdiction. Federal courts can construe state law and hear state claims where they have diversity jurisdiction. CA state law has a strict laws about marketing and often provides for money damages in a high dollar amount even if the actual damages would be otherwise low or nominal. So, my instinct, without reading the pleadings, without proving legal advice, is that the dollar value of the actual damages to compensate the plantiffs for the harm microplastics caused them might be low, but, the plaintiffs may prevail on their claims if they can prove it’s more likely than not that the defendant companies’ marketing was misleading within the meaning of CA law. As always, great content Jessica and great tips on how to lower the shedding of microplastics while keeping babies fed and parents sane. :)

    • @genuinelactation
      @genuinelactation 6 годин тому

      That checks with what I can see. This appears to be a strategic money grab but their strategy may pay off in California.

    I went down the microplastic rabbit hole with Baby 2. But then I realized my pump parts are plastic, and all my breast milk is going to be stored in a plastic bag, so, then it becomes a question of minimizing rather than eliminating. I got a nice response from the President of MayMom (a plastics engineer with a PhD from Duke) about why he prefers PP plastic to PPSU- in short, because (1) PPSU is patented and more expensive, (2) it still sheds microplastics, (3) the risks of PP plastics are fairly well known because it’s been around a long time whereas PPSU is newer so there could be risks we won’t know it til later. Then I realized that just about all plastic bottle makers recommend tossing them after 6 months anyhow, both PP and PPSU. like the Dr Brown Glass bottles because they dry quickly. They are sturdy, too. My daycare provider isn’t scared of glass. She’s old school.

    I actually like the momcozy m5 pump what makes it better is getting your own inserts instead of using theirs. With the momcozy m5 I have good output but I don't use it as my main pump. I use my Spectra as my main pump. I also have the zomee fit and didn’t like it as much because it leakes. I personally think wearable pumps are not the best but it could be helpful for working moms. Especially mother's that work in healthcare.

    • @genuinelactation
      @genuinelactation День тому

      Using alternate inserts ends up touching the diaphragm compromising the already questionable suction pattern. This pump can be great for output and still crash supplies- we won’t be recommending it after seeing so much damage. As for the zomee fit that should not be leaking- that can be helped with troubleshooting!

  • @momonoki86

    Thank you for your informative video. I was aware of phthalates risk with plastic reading the book it all comes from the egg. From my first pregnancy I avoided heating plastic, and for the first months I used the Philips glass bottles. But then they leaked very often while my baby was drinking, I was so annoyed I shifted to the plastic ones. Thinking about that, the cause may be that after using hot dryer for the plastic part of the bottle , the seal was compromised. I am pregnant with my second I am thinking to use the Pigeon glass bottles, but not using heat for the plastic part. About sterilization, we use a Philips uv-c light sterilizer and I think would be enough for the newborn stage. If I switch to glass I can keep using the uv-c sterilizer for the bottles. The issue will be letting air dry the pump parts, which will take much more time than heat drying.

    • @genuinelactation
      @genuinelactation День тому

      The UV sterilizers typically have a drying feature that is no where near as hot as the other options

    • @momonoki86
      @momonoki86 День тому

      Unfortunately I checked myself with a thermometer, and inside the Philips uv-c sterilizer it reaches 150 °F, after 20 minutes of drying. Which looks quite high for plastic I think.

    • @genuinelactation
      @genuinelactation 6 годин тому

      @@momonoki86 that's extremely high for a UV Sterilizer in general. I recommend the Wabi brand and the Tommee Tippee/BabyBuddha brand for those because I know the quality and that it's not getting hot like that. Is it just the sterilizing feature or the temperature itself? I use a sterilizer for its drying function only which gets a lot less hot than the sterilizing side. If it’s the temperature what is a safe temperature the plastic can be?

    • @genuinelactation

    One video I would love is advice on pumping with phalanges while breast-feeding. (Pump on one breast while nursing baby on other). I’m pregnant with my third and for my first two I always pumped first thing in the morning on whatever side baby wasn’t nursing on. I’ve tried with both children to pump with phalanges, but just found that I was constantly knocking them off and spilling the whole bottle of milk. Ultimately switched to wearables (willow 3.0) for my last baby, but didn’t get as much output. This time I’ve ordered babyBuddha to try their wearables. Pumping while nursing has always been hard for me.

      @@genuinelactationthank you so much for all the info. I am 6mths pp and struggling doesn’t come close to what I am going through. Since like 3-4 weeks postpartum I been struggling to produce I originally wanted just to nurse but the baby was really desperate and would fuzz and cry at the breast majority of the time. I have a medela pump in style that was my first one, then got the spectra s2 and some cheap wearable but that didn’t work. I just ordered the Eufy s1 pro and still haven’t received it. I measured myself w the rules I believe I am 16-17 if I am measuring correctly. So I am pumping w a 17. Do you think I am doing it correctly. Im sorry for the long message I wish I had the knowledge or help but I did not expect my baby to struggle and he also has a small tongue tie and as of now he won’t latch as much because he knows he doesn’t really get anything. Thank you in advance for any help or suggestions

    I can’t get this pump to work for me either . My primary pump is S1 from spectra ( and that is the main reason I bought PGA ). I live in the uk and recently found out that here spectra has 5 cycle speeds in the stimulation mode between 70 and 105 ( appears on the pump c1 to c5 ) . Of course I was using C5 for stimulation and find very difficult to get a letdown with PGA so far .

      The UK Spectra S1 is very different than the one we have here in the US. I can't get my hands on the UK version to test so I don't have an easy way to compare them. I would try moving to the 70 cycles per minute setting and matching suction based on the feel to help you adjust.

    I love my Lumbi wearable but it’s not meant to be a primary. I’m desperate to save my supply. I just received my BBuddha and realized I need cups for it instead of what it comes with. Which cups would you get for it that is similar to the Lumbi? Or try something different, I’m open to options and trying. I’m also going to order the Pumpables GenieAdvanced, & need cups for that too. I heard someone mention they didn’t recommend the BBuddha cups. I’m not sure which cups to get now. I was leaning to the Medela but hearing not great pairing with the BBuddha… I don’t know what to do, saving my milk supply, time sensitive 💛thank you for all your videos/content! I appreciate you!!

      Thank you for the recommendation, I have those in my Amazon cart 😂 I heard your lacteck hack with the baby Buddha cups, I ordered them and waiting for the arrival. I’m excited about the lacteck with high hopes. Now that I’m thinking about it the Lumbi may be what’s hurting my supply and after watching one of your fitting videos I don’t think they fit me….? I’m really looking forward to talking with you, maybe you can see what my fit looks like. Thank you for your time & all the helpful information. You are an Angel! I thank God for kind & caring people like YOU.

    I ordered this off Amazon when it first appeared. Agree it is a decent affordable option. I appreciated that a nice case came with the pump at this price point and that Bluetooth recognizes the pumps very quickly. It felt a bit sketchy downloading the app but using it was straightforward. This is more so my personal preference and nothing to do with the pump itself, but i didn't like cleaning the collection bottles due to the small opening. I could only clean it with the included brush but still felt like i didn't wash the corners well enough. I also kept accidentally pressing the buttons when placing it in the bra and when holding my baby.

    • @genuinelactation

      It's the same collection bottle as the Zomee Fit and that is a common complaint!

    Would this work well for someone who responds well to the pumpables genie advanced? I've tried a lot of mobile pumps and just can't find one I like. But I'm a nurse so I need a mobile option

    I wish I had seen this video a few months back. I regret buying my Medela Pump in Style. It is SO LOUD it woke up my baby when I tried to pump in it. I also had to purchase the collection cups separately and they're not performing well enough to my expectations 😢 if not for the only 3 parts to clean feature of the cups, I wouldn't have gotten it in the first place. Total buyer's remorse on this one.

    When making my own I’m finding you can’t actually change the speeds per section. I’ve created multiple and am finding that when create for instance stimulation medium section 3 then go to expression medium 5 it automatically reverts the first setting of stimulation to a level 5 as well. Already sent a suggestion to momcozy so they better change that because the other moms will not be happy with this as that’s not what was advertised to us and us changing settings anyways is annoying.

    Are there any oval shaped flanges you know of that are single piece like the spectra flanges? I can’t do a separate flange plus connector because my baby likes to pull things apart and spill milk while I pump and hold him (EP).

    Oh man, lol my mind was made up to buy the zomee fit, but now this video is making me questioning life. I dont care about the app, I care about price, quality and replacement parts assesibility. I also respond better to silicone than hard plastic flanges. I was going to use legendairy milk inserts with the zomee. Do you think I should consider the Horigen instead? I was planning to use Pumpables GA as my primary, and Zomee Fit as secondary.
