On this channel, you will be able to watch videos about how I've created passive income through investing in short-term vacation rentals. There will be some videos on how to create wealth, some videos on how to retire early, some videos about my travels, and probably some videos just for fun.
My mission is to change your mentality on retirement aka "Retirementality". In today's world, retirement doesn't mean working until your 65 and then sitting on a beach. It is more about achieving Financial Freedom early in life so you can sit on a beach and work remotely, or work for 6 months and take a year off, or whatever your dream might be.
Thanks for stopping by. Check out some videos and hopefully you will find value in them and want to subscribe so you don't miss anything.

How I went broke And Retired Early AND moved to an Island

I went broke in 2008 when the real estate market crashed. I was living in Montana and after I lost everything I moved to beach. I had never been back to Montana until now. I went back to see my old stomping grounds and revist all of the properties that I lost in foreclosure. I thought it would make a good video about How I lost everything, and how I started over. And I was able to retire early ...

An acquaintance is a big gossip, I guess she’ll find her group.
My wife’s from Puerto Rico but I’m Mexican American n will retire in Ensenada bc
Absolutely stay away from them. Especially with the HOA’s they have clicks. Politics, their bylaws are unfair. They keep raising their rates and they could actually sue homeowners condo owners, and or get special assessment fees to cover lawsuits. the biggest problem with these 55+ communities is everybody gets into your business.
In regards to your comment about people paying down their mortgage month after month and feeling like they're not getting ahead, after they've been paying extra payments for a while they can always have the loan recast which will adjust the monthly payments.
I'm 55..want to know the problem. Nosey 55 + people have nothing better to do than to get into everybody elses business.
🤠👍🏽👍🏽
We have antennas and HAM radios. We can, and do garden. There is a limit of 3 dogs, but that's the same as any other place in town. Most people have fences. There is a section for RVs and bigger garden plots if you want a larger garden. Most of the homes have upgraded their windows since the 1970s. About 1/3 have added solar. Our hoa fees are $100/month. That takes care of 2 swimming pools a spa, a gym, a library and a few club rooms. We are in the California north bay area, Vacaville. There is a very nice assisted living facility. There is a very fast ambulance and fire paramedics response. The town has great access to medical care and shopping. I do miss not having many young kids around.
Wow that place sounds pretty good.
'Nough said: too expensive to live in, great to visit.
Stay tuned, because I'm going to be shopping for a new place to live next.

Water...bill ok... I would install solar panels, maybe a hibrid system. Roof ? 1k monthly?
We are considering that now. I said $1k monthly but meant per year.
Where in Puerto Rico is this house?
I think he said Humacao in an earlier video.
It's in Humacao
@@RobertBrown-sd5dy Yea Mon... that is correct.
@@TheRetirementality Humacao is a nice area, fairly quiet, but not too far away from San Juan to enjoy a long day there. And close to the rain forest, and many beaches.

I thought there was no capital gains in PR?
That’s only if you have an Act 60 business (which requires you live half the year in PR, among other things).
@@cathymazak4979 correct, and you have to pay a fair amount of money to qualify for Act 60 as well.

I don’t understand why the hotel would charge people for a new roof, where’s the HOA money going that I’m paying? Should the HOA fee be part of that?
Our generation got no help from our Boomer Parents and are still supporting Adult children. The economy changed so much for us . Had no idea how expensive raising a family would get after 2000. I will never be able to retire.
Ugg. Sorry you feel like this. Get those adult children to kick in.
Retirement is more challenging now than it used to be. I've focused on saving rather than investing, and currently, I have about $400K. With inflation on the rise, I’m considering investing in stocks, but I’m not familiar with effective market strategies.
Are you planning to retire before 59? That's the key factor for me. I transitioned to cash-flowing assets because I wanted to retire early.
Given the current pressure to prepare for retirement, I highly recommend seeking guidance from a financial advisor. This will help you make more informed investment decisions.
Do you have any recommendations? I’m looking for a CFP to help grow my retirement account.
I consistently recommend Rebecca Lynne Buie as my top choice. She is well-known for her expertise in financial markets and has an impressive track record. I highly endorse her services.
I looked her up and found her webpage. I’ve already sent an email and scheduled an appointment. Thanks for the recommendation!
The biggest issue with 55+ communities is that these retired people have nothing to do but gossip and make trouble for their neighbors. The concept is good, it’s the people that are a nightmare
I believe this would be the worst part. I've got my eye on a little house on about 35 acres. Stay tuned to see what happens.
Thanks for the shout out! We really appreciate it! Glad you found value in our term, Flex-Pat! Happy Journeys! John & Bev
I'd never consider living anywhere with a HOA. Deal breaker. I've been putting up with idiots my entire life. I'm not paying for that now.
Where is the air bnb located if I want to book I plan on starting real estate in Puerto Rico. Hopefully that can give me some knowledge as to how this process works n buying rental property
The house is located in Humacao. You can check out some of my other videos about buying real estate in PR. Some of them are a few years old but the information is relevant.
I want to co list with people. I wonder if I have to live in PR to co list n property manage Who is the management company. I do want to have rentals in PR but I have to make a capital first. So maybe colist for now or manage it for someone
That is going to be tough. You have to figure out what you bring to the table and why someone would want to co-list with you.
My wife and I lived in a 55+ community called View Point in Green Valley Arizona. Worst decision we ever made… To many rules and regulations, someone was always trying to control your life as well as what you could do… You could paint your home any color you wanted so long as it conformed to the pre approved “desert shades” of mud, dirt and sand… We felt like the youngsters in the neighborhood, probably because we drove and still do drive “those odd little foreign cars” MINI Coopers… If you’ve got a flagpole on your property you were told you couldn’t light the flag at night as the light interfered with pilots flying planes at night. Last time I checked the rules surrounding the displaying of our nations flag were not controlled by an HOA… You were prohibited from leaving your garage door up unless you were in the garage. In the desert enclosed garage temperatures could reach well over 130° and remain so for hours after dark. If you had a freezer in the garage it would never shut off… You couldn’t set your trash out before a certain hour on pick up day and had to have it off the curb within a certain time allotment… The southern Arizona medical community had a real problem following Medicare Guidlines (rules), they just didn’t care because if you died there were more oldsters waiting to take your place… Pima County Sheriff’s Department didn’t care to follow the law either, preferring to do as they pleased right or wrong… We no longer live in an HOA, in fact we’re no longer residents of Arizona, best decision we’ve ever made.
Happy birthday
Thanks!
You were wrong. I lived in an over 55 community in Florida and I lived it. The only ammentiy we had was aswimming pool and a club house. We also have HOA with regulations : No pets (noise and no poops on side walk) No over size vehicles on driveway on streets (icluding all recreation vehicles or boat) No working on cars on driveway or opened garage. No landscape or plants, flowers outside home - are including in HOA. All resients must be recorded in HOA. I was sure including no one under 18 outside.
Do you have any recommended lenders that do 5-10 percent down in PR?
No, I didn't get a loan in PR. I pulled some equity out of one of my houses in the states to buy in PR.
Retirement becomes truly rewarding when you have two key components: a solid financial foundation and a clear sense of purpose. Making wise investment decisions is crucial to achieving strong returns and enjoying a secure retirement.
Rising costs have impacted my original plan to retire at 62, work part-time, and grow my savings. I can't help but wonder if those who navigated the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time compared to the challenges I’m currently facing. Market volatility, combined with a lower income, has me concerned about having enough for a comfortable retirement.
You’re absolutely correct-financial advisors have access to strategies and opportunities that aren’t always available to the general public. I earned £560k in 2022 with guidance from my fiduciary advisor. Am I cashing out? Definitely not. I’m taking a step back to watch how the market evolves.
I’ve been considering that path myself. I have a significant stock portfolio, but some holdings are starting to decline in value. I'm unsure whether to hold onto them or sell, and I think hiring your advisor could help me effectively restructure my portfolio.
Rebecca Lynne Buie has consistently been my top recommendation. She’s widely recognized for her expertise in financial markets and has a strong track record. I highly recommend her.
Thank you for the recommendation. I did some research on Rebecca Lynne Buie, and fortunately, I found her details. My goal is to retire in five years, and I’m hoping her expertise can help me make that a reality.
I lived in Isla Verde for 4 years and loved it 😊 I shall return for vacation?
We love Pinones. I was just there a couple of days ago.
It looks like a nightmare to me. A bugs filled slum.
It's not for everyone and some parts are better then others.
I have lived in a 55+ community in Maryland for 16 years. It is a condo consisting of fairly large villa townhomes. I have had very few problems with the condo regulations. I find they keep the community looking very nice. We get snow removal, landscaping, rain gutter cleaning, amenities (which I hardly use but my wife does occasionally) all exterior maintenance is done by the condo except concrete like driveways. I have not noticed many cliques at all. We are going to sell our home and are moving to Texas because my wife's relatives are there. We are moving into a 40+ community near Dallas called Robson Ranch and are buying a $1,000,000 home. The construction seems very good and there are 5800 people living there and they opened for business I believe in 2002. They will be building for another 15 years there, or so I am tod. The have an amenity center that would knock your socks off and the HOA fees are 1/2 of what we are paying in Maryland. Go www.robson.com to check it out if you are interested.
Because I like making money.
The key is figuring out how much is enough. I like make money too. But I spent the last two weeks in Puerto Rico and now I'm in Spain for a month... that is fun too.
How about building a house in PR. What areas do you recommend?
That is personal choice. You really need spend about 2 weeks and drive around the island and one or two nights in an airbnb and find an area you like. That's how we did it.
Both my parents were apple software developers so I have connections with apple Im web developers & software developer
That's great I hope you can put all of that to good use.
I like rules
Look there are more puerto ricans in the stats than the island can hold that being said the majority of us want to buy a house and retire in our main land its bad enough black rock ruin homesteding in the states and now we have to compete with you poeple gtfo seriously if you any kind of integrity honor and respect you will not buy a home in puerto rico we do not want puerto rico to turn into Hawaii we are not as friendly as them eaither so please dont even watch this nonsense

Well they are overrun with boomers who are the absolute worst generation the country ever created.
Imo, the Puertorriqueños are consistently being financially/economically raped/violated. The Jones Act should no longer be in existence.
Retired at 57 and hate it. Only did it because I have $$$. Bored out of my mind
Try spending some of your money. I just spent the last two weeks in Puerto Rico and now I'm in Spain. Buy a boat and start fishing. Take some classes. I'm super busy. Start a youtube channel and talk about why retiring early sucks. Most of the people making videos about retiring early haven't even retired and they just want to sell you course.
My husband and I are doing well with pur retirement investments. But one big concern is that we're the sandwich generation. Our parents' health is getting worse right about the same time our kids are finishing college. Our ability to retire, and enjoy that retirement, is highly dependent on how much support (financial, physical) we end up javing to give our elders and our kids.
I don't have those financial worries as I don't have children and my parents won't need money. But I'm looking at moving abroad and wondering how much care my parents are going to need. So there are many things to consider.
I retired to Humacao 2 years ago. And absolutely love it.
Congratulations. Are you in Palmas or somewhere else? It's a great area.
@ closer to the Home Depot side. So not far from there. And thank you

Apparently “retirement mentality” means turning off your brain entirely and then spewing all the standard-issue Ugly American talking points about how “dirty” immigrants are ruining “our” country :/
It takes this absolutely manic dude an unfocused, repetitive 8:30 minutes to explain that “flex-pat” literally means slow travel…but maybe just a little bit slower 😢
Sounds like TikTok videos may be better for a person of your intellect.
You sound like a total idiot… I’ve been living in a 55 community for three years and it’s the best thing I could’ve ever done in my life… why, to start off it’s much quieter.. You don’t have the hustle and bustle of the average noisy adult families to deal with.. there are community events that you can be part of if you want. Or you can be left alone…. It’s just a more peaceful atmosphere. But you seem to have a problem with that.. it sounds like you have no idea what it’s really like. I’d say get your act together and stop telling lies.
