I hope this is a space where you can feel cozy, light, and empowered to dress like you :)
Bedroom makeover pt 2 - adding color & character
Time to wrap up my extreme hometown bedroom makeover! This time we're stripping paint to reveal the original tile under the mantle, painting an accent door (hello 2025 burgundy trend), and thrifting/vintage shopping for a new midcentury modern wood desk! I also grabbed a pair of ikea stools and new striped sheets/pillow cases. Still minimalist, still modernist; more color, more personality, more original character.

Why I hate capsule wardrobes
Переглядів 14 тис.Місяць тому
Capsule wardrobes don't work for everyone, especially those of us who actually like fashion. In this vid I talk about why I think they're more anxiety-inducing than stress-relieving, why they end up lacking personality most times, and how I think they can ironically encourage maximalism while allowing you to "cosplay" minimalism. I also talk about getting use out of your entire closet year roun...

Wrong On Purpose: a study in juxtaposition
Переглядів 7 тис.2 місяці тому
Juxtaposition in fashion When is an outfit with contrasting elements "uniquely balanced," and when is it just plain confusing? Contrast is an important part of creating visual balance: contrast in color, in value, in texture, in silhouettes, in masculinity/femininity the list goes on. But balancing those contrasting elements with uniformity elsewhere is arguably more important. In this video, I...
Avoiding Trends = Understyling

Trends are running rampant in 2024, and sometimes the fear of cringing at ourselves for wearing overly trendy outfits can lead us to under-style them. Let's take a walk down trends' past and a deep dive into my high school outfits. Are they fashionable, are they trendy, or are they just plain ugly? I always idolize 90s and early 2000s fashion, but filming this made me so nostalgic for the style trends of the 2010s. Pretty please let me know if these trends were universal or exclusive to my hometown lol. @ phoebe.taylor on everything check out...

I would never wear black to a wedding, personally.
You need an Aurora, Florence + the machine and Kate Bush one, I really want to know who you think I dress like
id also like some kpop!
ur so PRETTYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYy
Stack the side tables and use the chair as a side table on the side closest to the door. Mismatched side tables are cool.
i would love to hear your idea on someone who listens to miley cyrus bc miley's style (music and fashion lol) herself has changed a lot over the years

i really like the bit at the end: you can’t get it wrong, so you might as well choose what you like. i think you had great examples of here of being minimal but cozy, i actually just moved into my apartment at it looks like the example pictures. i’ve been thinking about how to fill the spaces but this inspired me to slow down and enjoy the cozyness of a blank wall

I enjoyed this video, great tips! My husband and I are building an affordable starter home, but want it to be well designed. We had decided recently to cut the builder grade overhead lights! I would never turn them on and I think they really cheapen a space. If you go into older homes, they never have lights like these, and light doesn't distribute this way in nature. I want to counter on the countertop idea (pun definitely intended), that you can use a laminate that looks like stone if you incorporate a similar looking real stone somewhere else in your design in a small accent. I think it helps elevate the whole look. Personally, a flat colored laminate doesn't fit into my style, and I think the "faux" ones have come a long ways. More of a personal opinion than a disagreeance.
gagged - most relatable thing I’ve come across so far. You hit the nail on the head with each reason
Thanky for this great video Phoebe <3 If anyone is interested in a free body type analysis then respond to this comment. I am actually currently working on a data driven model to help people understand there unique body composition to help with styling questions and need a couple of people to test the product :) The video underlines exactly what my intention is with the product I am building - making more use of what you already have and save money and the enviroment!
SO INTERESTING❤❤
this was so much fun and interesting! it would be fun to see this concept applied to the viewers where they send you a room and you give an outfit or vice versa. just as an idea. love your content!! its so creative and refreshing x

ua-cam.com/video/lzEaawsOmbk/v-deo.html Are you sure that this is vinyl? Aren´t these Marca Corona from Italy? If so, these are stone! Would love to get some like these in vinyl because we cant put in stone.
@@hanssvenssn2516 if you google “solid (vinyl/laminate/linoleum) flooring” you will see lots of options that come in beautiful solid colors like these! Including the word “solid” in my search is how I weeded out all of the faux wood and faux marble patterns 🫶🏽
i think a cute candle could look nice on the mantel, in a fun candleholder if you wanted to add some whimsy. or perhaps just a trailing plant?
hi phoebe thank you for your advice!! also wait omg who are the gorgeous girls in the thumbnail?? 😍
Some thoughts: Paint the light switch plate the same colour as the door. I actually loved the fireplace painted... Definitely think you went with the right desk, it's gorgeous. You could use some height on the left side of your bed to balance out the artwork that's on the left. Loving this series, hope you do a part 3, even if it's short.
Last spring I bought three blazers to spruce up my look. Two navy, one black. I’m retired and really was thinking to wear with jeans. Not doing that very much. Maybe you’ve shown me they’re not my vibe either! However I do like “basics” like t shirts short and long sleeved to wear under jackets to tone down the dressy look. Also I’m happier keeping my colors to a limited palette so I don’t have to think too hard when dressing.
can we get a pinterest board for each of the clothing styles please?? i need the insppoooo
❤❤❤❤❤❤
You've done a great job, it looks so good! I agree with the commenters suggesting candlesticks for the mantle and a piece of art for the blank space in the fireplace.
After the first 2 I'm thinking "wow I love this"
i loved this videoooo, youre so talented! also are you from Toronto??
Same as you with the leggings, they’re so uncomfortable
what a transformation! i love your sense of style. also i was literally thinking of a similar colour for the door hehe
I also have a mantle in my room I’m trying to fill- would love to see what personal touches you add to it!!
Absolutely love the door colour and tiles on the mantel piece together 🖤 you’ve created such a beautiful space!
Oh, what a beautiful outcome!!
I adore the tile. But the chunky lamps on the dinky little chairs look kinda flimsy. And I can’t help but think that painting the doorframe and more of the trim red too would make the deep red color look less orphaned and out of place.
Your taste is just what I was looking for in a cheap interior design video!! I am looking to move into my first apartment in about three months, and I am starting to plan and get ideas for how to personalize my space as cheaply as I can. Thank you Pheobe!! And yes, please make more of these!! <3
Love the raspberry door and glad that you brought the tile back to life. Go with the first chair for the desk, it looks more comfortable to sit in. Plus the other chair makes more decorative sense for other parts of the room as a place to drop bags, half-dirty laundry, etc. Gotta have a drop zone!
I discovered your channel today and I love it <3 edit: I need 100 more of this kind of videos btw, such a cool concept to experiment!

omg, I have the perfect bra in mind but I bought it in China😂 I don't know if I can put a link here but it was very comfortable, like one of those uniqlo bras, but it's more seemless, and it had a liiiittle bit of thick bit on the bottom of the bra so my girls seriously look amazing.
- Denim shorts. Or any shorts or short skirts to wear outside. I hate the way my knees look. - Blazers. Can't seem to style them in a casual way, and they do nothing for my body. - Pencil skirts and mermaid skirts make my thighs look weird. - Don't like the way turtlenecks feel on my chest and neck. - Knee-high boots. They hug my calves weirdly. - v-shaped anything. Shirts, pumps, etc all look ugly on me.
Phoebe your content is really great. I like your tone. Congrats on the movement you’re seeing 👏🏾
Love the result! And I appreciate your love for honest materials <3
would it be better to put the chair in a space between the window and bed facing the room? 😅
