My first Day on the Green. Bought Scorpions and Y&T shirts. Nearly missed the midnight Bart train back to Concord. It was a long, loud and wonderful day. My friend hated Metallica and slept during their performance.

It was a great show. Long day though. It was great to be young.😊

I don't think the interviewer was being particularly wierd, however I think perhaps he was possibly flirting with Syd taking into account how attractive he was.i suppose we will all perceive the context of the interview completely differently.

The way Syd talks is clearly a brain on acid. Trying to talk and have conversations while on acid or mushrooms or hallucinogenics in general make you process and speak like this. Not saying thats the only reason he was the way he was here but it sounds a lot like ive heard, felt and spoke myself many times on same drugs

“Do you ever get frightened by the systems?” - I love this interview. It’s wonderful how much more individually people could speak in public media back then. Well, wonderful to hear, but also sad how fake and stereotyped everything is today. The internet has made us all into memes of memes, clones of clones. We think of ourselves as more liberated and non-conformist than ever, but really I think we are more conformist today probably than in the 1950s or 40s. It’s just disguised as individualism, but the models we follow are all internalized. Listening further, I do think that question about systems might have given Syd the creeps a bit. Or maybe he’s just tuning into some other frequencies.

I think that Stanley Kubrick patterned the HAL 9000 computer after the interviewer. I never did psychedelics but if I did it would probably sound like this interview.

The interviewer sounds psychotic, and Syd just sounds like he's somehow been trapped by this other man's insanity. I mean, it really can't have helped. The weirder the questions get, the more confused Syd's answers, naturally enough. Poor kid.

A sad story... Syd Barett was a talented, gifted young man... A real tragedy for the whole family... Pink Floyd ignored the problem, says Nick Mason... Syd's older brother was a doctor!!! They also repressed it!!! He said: Everything is fine... Nothing is fine... When he made his 2 solo albums, Syd Barett was a sick person... He was on the verge of schizophrenia... I'm interested in how he lived with his illness afterwards... Unfortunately there are no more books in Germany...

poor syd, i feel for him in this quote "interview" he gets lost , losing his train of thought alot i feel ,its the sound already of someone struggling with himself for whatever reason, i think there are many reasons for what happened to him and hearing this with what was to come is so so sad RIP Syd and ps he is being so nice and English here ...

This interview shows more about how perceptive and intelligent Syd was than most others if for no other reason than displaying Syd's obvious caution, understanding, and perception of the foolishness and baiting from the disingenuous interviewer. His guard is up and he appears to be amused by the whole situation, as if he can't believe that this guy takes himself seriously. You can hear Syds inner dialog wanting to tell Meatwad to piss off.
