    You did a damn good job talking about these two bikes I own a 701 in Australia amazing machine but got dusted because previous owner wasn’t oiling the filter properly with the spray on Motorex oil that does not soak the filter enough. We are so lucky to have the amount of tracks on the east coast of Australia one of the best places in the world for anything off road and the 701 is truly at home here I got her fixed up and she’s an amazing machine I can’t see parting with ever!!!!

    Here in the US market, which is likely the biggest ADV bike market in the world, I believe it comes down to simply name brand recognition and nothing more. Buyers in the US are not familiar with the Aprilia brand. Those that are familiar with Aprilia (sport bike owners) are not interested in ADV bikes. I own a 2023 Tuareg with over 5k miles. I previously owned a BMW GS and find the Tuareg superior in every way. It checks all the blocks I wanted in an ADV bike, light, nimble, low center of gravity, extremely capable off road, tubless tires, excellent suspension, all the modern electronics incl. cruise control, and it handles like a dream on pavement even with my knobby Motoz tires. Aprilia made the ADV bike that no other manufacturer could make because they have no other ADV bikes within their own line up to rob sales from (think new Transalp & Africa Twin). They are not going to compete with themselves and loose sales on their flagship models. I have had no problems at all with the Tuareg. Most (if not all) of the issues I have seen on UA-cam with the Tuareg are due to the rider and how the bike was used and not a problem with the Tuareg itself. Issues like kick stand spring retainer bolts breaking off on large rocks are easily and cheaply corrected. Upgrading the air filter for dusty roads....no problem. You will find small issues like this with any motorcycle, especially new models.

    I'm pretty into Moto camping. I won't say minimalist at all, but definitely hate bulky stuff like that rolled up sleeping pad on my bike. I bought a relatively inexpensive air mattress that rolls up to the size of a coke can. Game changer.

    Super useful video. I live in the Algarve, Portugal. I've got a 2023 Tenere WORLD RAID and I love it. Lower center of gravity, better suspension than the T7, and more. I'll be taking her through a 3000 km trip through Spain, France, and Italy in November. I'm expecting it to be an amazing adventure. I took her on a 1500 km through the hills and mountains of northern Portugal and it was incredible. Super comfy and responsive. But I'm also considering adding the 701 to my collection for the more technical riding here in Portugal and also in nearby Spain. I wouldn't think of taking the 701 on such a big trip to Italy but I think it'll be amazing to flick around the hundreds of trails in the Algarve.

    Aprilia has earned itself a lot of negative rep for being unreliable coupled with poor dealership service to service their warranty work as you said in the video. A lot of people have been burned by their Tuonos and the like so they're gun shy on the Tuareg. The other thing to note is that KTMs are rarely trusted when reliability truly matters. You don't ride a KTM 50+ miles out in the middle of nowhere where you breaking down turns into a survival situation. They're taken on relatively short ranged, spirited treks but most don't trust a KTM to go the distance where support and coverage is spotty or the consequences of a break down could mean you dying out in the middle of nowhere. The Big 4 are known for the reliability first and most serious riders taking their bike out there don't want to get stranded 50+ miles out in the desert and now on a sudden multi-day survival trek back to civilization. Once you really go off the roads on a bike with some range on it, reliability becomes more important with range. It's one of the major reasons dual sports or dirt bikes have such relatively small gas tanks on them. We could make the gas tanks huge, but then the worry is that riders would be tempted to take them for many hours outside of safely recoverable range and before the user knows it, they've exceeded their 120hr service interval and the engine fails and they're now a week's hike through wilderness to get back to civilization. That's what's actually killed many racers in the Dakar in the past. They break down and can't make contact with help in time and the desert claims another. They now have a relatively set route with chase vehicles specifically to prevent that type of loss of life. IRL, you don't have a chase vehicle following you around to pick you up if your bike takes a shit on you.

    @R0ger007 19 днів тому

    Had 2 PR7, different years. Tablet went mental in the rain, died after a wash. Engine wouldn't start in the winter before battery flat. Forward facing air intake sucks water into proprietary air filter. Fuel cap sticks and drops mud into tank. Sticky fuel level sensor. Unadjustable headlights point into sky. Exhaust flattens on first bump. Rear brake lever sits on exhaust. Can't adjust spring preload without removing tank. Rectifier under water during river crossings. Rotten wiring, broken wires in loom. Endless design flaws. Should be a brilliant bike on paper, sold both.

    That engine isn't from China. It's made in Italy in the old Husqvarna factory that got abandoned when KTM bought the Husqvarna name and decided to just stick white plastic on KTMs and call them Husqvarnas. It's basically the old 2010 TE 630 motor, which is no bad thing.

    The 450MT feels like it weighs 50kg less than a T7. It feels like the XT600 I have and that weighs 160kg. CoG is key. The overall size of the MT ist also alot smaller than the typical 200kg bikes. I have ridden it for an hour and was really impressed. I can get myself to buy chinese products in this price area right now, sadly.

      a '17 is euro 4, so the jerkiness isn't as severe on those to begin with. If you get a good deal on the 17 I'd personally go with that because of price, but the lc4 engine isn't the most reliable engine around, just be aware. PR7 is a better adventure bike, but wouldn't pay significantly more for one. Get the cheapest and use the rest of the cash on fuel and tires :) Good luck!

    The concern of radiator protection is valid. However, increasing the bike's weight by mounting metal crash bars is not necessary. If you are concerned regarding the weight gain, radiator guards made of carbon fibre are the best option (Oakleaf Engineering, Bielefeld, Germany).

I still own a KTM 350 xcw and still trail ride some single trails. So I was worried getting a heavy adventure bike would not make me happy.
