Trying to practice more with the same process I experimented with on my previous design called, ’Patience’. I’m quite enjoying this new workflow so hopefully you might find this video useful.

In my spare time, I’ve been practicing a lot of different digital painting techniques and lately I’ve been experimenting with some 3D processes to try and help my 2D work. So, being MASSIVELY influenced by Maciej Kuciara’s work on Showtime, I wanted to take an existing character design I had and tackle it in a different approach. It was a cool if slightly time consuming process, that created so...

Hi everyone. I’ve been seeing a lot of stuff surfacing online lately about 3D tools in Photoshop. After being heavily inspired by artists like Jama Jurabeav and Kyu-Seok Choi, I thought I’d give it a shot. And it’s awesome! If you’re like me, and have an idea for an environment shot but can’t quite settle on a composition straight away, it’s a great set of tools to learn so you can essentially ...

Hi folks. I've been putting together a two-part talk based around character design that I'm going to be delivering next year. This video is Part II in which we take a selected design from Part I and show how you can produce a more polished image for a client. In case you missed Part I, here’s a link to show you how to start things off: ua-cam.com/video/O1at1_VN9nE/v-deo.html I find this to be a...

Hi folks. I've been putting together a two-part talk based around character design that I'm going to be delivering next year. This video is Part I, which goes through the process of starting with a basic rough sketch and then uses a fairly straight forward pipeline to create a much cleaner and presentable image. It’s much more methodical in comparison to some of the other videos I’ve made, whic...
Custom Shapes Speed Painting

I’ve been playing around further with using Custom Shapes in Photoshop. Some of the videos I’ve posted online had a positive reception, but I was asked how do I go about adding colour to the designs. So, I’ve made a quick environment piece to show how, when using photos/textures you can quickly add colour to a design. I hope you find it useful. If you’re interested in following my work, please ...
Sketching With ZBrush

I’ve been playing around with ZBrush lately to try and push my skills further. Even though I’ve only been using it a short while, I thought it would be fun to try and sketch out an environment using ZBrush and see where things go. It turned out to be pretty fun! I hope this video gives someone some ideas. Here’s the link to the high-res image on Artstation: www.artstation.com/artwork/DKex0 If y...

I’ve been playing around with Custom Shapes in Photoshop and while I was digging into it, I stumbled across a video by Long Pham. In his video, he used Custom Shapes in quite an experimental way to lay down a lot of randomly placed shapes, and then tried find patterns within the shapes to create new compositions. I thought it was a great way to try and generate new compositions and I also like ...
Doctor Strange Eternity

One of the things I enjoyed about the Doctor Strange movie is the limitless possibilities it opens up for environment design. So, I thought I’d have a crack at doing a concept for a potential Doctor Strange sequel. I ran into a few challenges with this piece but I learnt a hell of a lot from it at the same time - so I guess that’s a bonus. The main issue I was having was the placement of the ch...
Custom Shapes

I’ve been playing around with Custom Shapes in Photoshop to try out a different way of generating thumbnails and compositions. I love the old west, so I thought about creating some cinematic compositions for a revenge story I have in mind. I quite liked where some of these ideas were going so, in the future, I might revisit some of these designs and develop them further. Anyway, I figured some ...

What tool are you using to stretch and manipulate the custom shapes? Is it a specific funtion under transform?🤔 Cause the normal transform doesn't do that

sad part is that now someone goes on some program and types in woman in mech suit and an Ai program scrapes the internet and creates something similar but with no soul or years of refined experience. I will always appreciate these types of videos of artist making REAL art

Completely exemplifies the idea regarding result vs. process. Process amazing for those of us who like to use multiple sotfwares sometimes seeming unrelated or less familiar to some in certain mediums. Result amazing. In conclusion, use whatever tools you deem required to get to your intended result. Simple!!

love your vids. this piece reminds me a lot of Eytan Zana. too bad you're no longer making videos. life happens. otherwise it would be interesting to make a series that analyzes and mimics other famous concept artists or art styles in an exploratory fashion. Most artists hide their stumblings and their influences or their workflows, but I find it great to see you get there in unconventional ways.

I mean this is dope but..you did all that work on the arms just to cover them up. I think what would make this awesome would be to put some wear and tear , rips and damage on the cape to expose those great looking arms you worked on ;otherwise they did not even need to be drawn could've just done a cape.

Idk if you even still read these comments on a 3 year old video, but I'd like to make a suggestion.. It'd be really awesome if you could do tiny animations of this painting.. Like the guy could be off frame and then walk to the edge of the cliff etc. Maybe the sun appears afterwards etc. It's really easy to do in photoshop as it's just playing with opacity levels and setting a key frame. Photoshop even adds in the middle frames if you just set 1 start place. Move the guy to the end, set an end place. I thought that would bring these pieces you make to a little higher level. You're doing great man I'd like to try these custom shapes. 💪❤

Hi bro, 3 years later, sorry for my english, (I'm from russia) - select layers from the bottom right (Shift + left mouse button) -on the top panel, where there are buttons like "file" and so on, you will find the button "layers" and there will be a button "merge layers"
