I use APC 12/6 L Left side rotation. In Fly, the rotorblade that is moving against the wind, produces more lift then the one other one, moving with the Wind. The torque of the motor fitted with a L prop is forcing against the roll of the rotor. ( This konfiguration is for original Rotorblades sense of rotation.) Hope you understand.

It depends on which radio control transmitter you buy. Most 2.4Ghz systems have a range of over 3km, but of course you need to be able to see the model (unaided light of sight) to be able to fly it. I wouldn't choose this model as my first RC plane.

Split flaps added and tested today. A big reduction in speed from take off to landing. This is a really worth while addition and can be done quickly with only a tiny weight gain, 6 grams in my case. A much more controlled flight at a far more realistic speed. I even managed a proper flare on landing, a first with this model. It did need a few clicks of down trim for straight and level flight, circuits being a lot slower to complete, barely at half throttle. I'll be posting some photo's on rcgroups later in the week.

Great mods on your Twinliner ! I've gone further to reduce weight by running a 3s 1300. I like your washout mod, I'll be looking at that for sure along with simple split flaps. My Twinliner will fly off freshly cut short grass on 3s and I've also hand launched with success. I'm getting 3 1/2 minute flights, mostly at half throttle. The lighter weight makes the biggest difference with this model. Your easyjet livery puts my A320 prototype scheme to shame !! Cheers Paul

Sounds interesting. I used almost boiling water from the kettle which might have been a mistake as the surface of the foam went a bit like alligator skin - probably about 60 Celsius would do, and to help set them in their new positions, I ran the wingtips under the cold tap for a couple of minutes whilst holding in the washout. I think I will try mine on 3s. Thanks.

I saw the video but the attitude was not correct because it overturned .... the center of gravity was too high ..... a quick test of the center of gravity, in the electric model GyrOne you can take the axis of the main motor as a reference. you can take the rotating body with your hand, then lift the model from the rotating body and put the complete model on its side ready to fly with the batteries, the rotor propeller must be on the right and the wheels on the left, the fulcrum is the axis of the motor, so for a correct attitude the autogyro must descend from the side of the wheels, otherwise the autogyro takes off and overturns because the center of gravity is above the thrust of the main motor, understood? in the video you can clearly see that the model is unstable and then overturns. the other center of gravity is easier to control.... with the radio control turned on lift the model from the rotor head and it should be with the nose down about 10 degrees.... the weight of the main battery should not be less than 400 grams. If the center of gravity is above the thrust of the motor you can add weight to the base of the frame master just enough to make it turn.....go down on the side of the wheels, otherwise it will tip over, it cannot fly. The electric Gyrone Pilot is still available in stock, for information write to...... experimentalmodels@gmail.com

The problem was a lack of rotor RPM. After making some alterations, we got some success here; ua-cam.com/video/yG3G424KDwA/v-deo.html and; ua-cam.com/video/JQhzRcF3GU4/v-deo.html The hang angle made the biggest difference, but strangely, the rotor RPM was increased with an INCREASE in angle of incidence at the blade root.

Thanks for your review, today I just did maiden flights with my XFLY, and it was great, especially once I started doing landings with full flaps. That took a bit of different elevator compensation, but it became amazing, with the C.of G. set at around 70 mm , NOT at 61 as described in the manual, it comes down so nice it's easy to control the rate of descent with power for a greasy landing. I have the VQ model too, but I flew it so far with a 3s 4000 LiPo and that's rather underpowered. I'll try it with a 4 cell pack, as I have Eflite 25's motors installed, and Ramoser adjustable props, I had set them so I have 32 amps current each side, that winds up with about 800 watts for 3.7 kilos. There we go: It's the power to weight ratio, the XFLY has much more with a 6S 5000 than the VQ with only a 3 cell 4000, at around the same weight. So today after many take-offs and landings, total flight time can be up to 10 minutes 🙂 One big difference between the two: The XFLY has real scale aileron and flap hinges, the VQ, only lousy covering-type hinging and flaps are too small. Anyways, both models are not for beginners, each has different characteristics and flying a twin is quite different, for example if you come in too slow, a bit of power and you have instant lift on the wings. Quite a difference compared to a single engine plane eh. Have fun.... Herb &thebirds

If you MinWax this FOAM Xfly, like I do ALL my FOAM planes, you will protect the paint and foam from deteriorating AND the paint will "POP". Also, IMHO, PNP is so much easier to build than the VQ BALSA Twin Otter and with the RECOMMENDED motors, servos and ESC, the VQ will be much more costly to get into the air than the Xfly as well as a builder's "cost in time building" than the Xfly

Hi, I will try the miniwax next time - this one is done with the rosin based floor protector. Yes, this one is much easier & quicker to put together, although you get more choice of the equipment used with the VQ build. When I bought my VQ kit (maybe 18 months before the X-Fly Otter became available), costs were more comparable

@@ScaleMeDown I've got a DTXMX Flysky FS-i6X 10CH Radio Transmitter and Receiver FS-iA10B 2.4G RC Controller will this work for it I've got it kind of setup but the right side wing isn't responding

@@kingsolo303 Hi, I don't use FlySky myself, so can't be completely sure, however the kit comes with a 'y' lead for the ailerons. Ensure that the plugs and sockets are all the correct way round (wires connected white to white, red to red, black to black) on all 3 ends of the y lead. Check which way round the plugs are inserted into the receiver. If you are using separate channels for each surface the problem will be with the model setup in the transmitter

I have an original Graupner j52 kit which I have is too much for me these days! It is free to a good home, all the original bits down to the esc etc are there (although I think it's called something else). I've checked the U K internal postage and it's £15 approx.if you want me to send it it to you. I live in Morriston, near Swansea, so if you know of anyone who coud pick it up, that would be great. Just about to maiden my Lanc after following your instructions for same. Den
