Split flaps added and tested today. A big reduction in speed from take off to landing. This is a really worth while addition and can be done quickly with only a tiny weight gain, 6 grams in my case. A much more controlled flight at a far more realistic speed. I even managed a proper flare on landing, a first with this model. It did need a few clicks of down trim for straight and level flight, circuits being a lot slower to complete, barely at half throttle. I'll be posting some photo's on rcgroups later in the week.
Excellent video having another look and leaving a comment this time. Thanks for the mention ( SWM & CML) . I can’t help thinking a 70 or 80 mm fan 2.5 mtr version would be cool 👍 for slow dirty passes. Thanks. Steve
Thanks. I am considering a moving flap section driven by a single servo in the centre section. Would still be lighter than it is on wheels and will make solo hand launching super easy in calm winds. A fixed flap portion certainly helped our hobbyking Lancaster here; ua-cam.com/video/Q5XuSI6RKqU/v-deo.html
Great mods on your Twinliner ! I've gone further to reduce weight by running a 3s 1300. I like your washout mod, I'll be looking at that for sure along with simple split flaps. My Twinliner will fly off freshly cut short grass on 3s and I've also hand launched with success. I'm getting 3 1/2 minute flights, mostly at half throttle. The lighter weight makes the biggest difference with this model. Your easyjet livery puts my A320 prototype scheme to shame !! Cheers Paul
Sounds interesting. I used almost boiling water from the kettle which might have been a mistake as the surface of the foam went a bit like alligator skin - probably about 60 Celsius would do, and to help set them in their new positions, I ran the wingtips under the cold tap for a couple of minutes whilst holding in the washout. I think I will try mine on 3s. Thanks.
@@ScaleMeDown Just watched your video of the Lancaster with fixed split flaps. A very quick and easy way to try out the flaps modification. I might try that on the Twinliner !
It depends on which radio control transmitter you buy. Most 2.4Ghz systems have a range of over 3km, but of course you need to be able to see the model (unaided light of sight) to be able to fly it. I wouldn't choose this model as my first RC plane.

Sounds awesome. I am modifying mine next ! Did you get chance to climb up and assess the stall ?

Hope CML and X-Fly are listening ... 2.5m span version ?
Nice.... wondering whether it'd be worth cutting in some fixed scale flap deflection ....slow it down a bit....nice finish on that 😊

@@catherinewright8933 Let me know how you get on. Best of luck
How far can it fly from your remote? I want to buy it, but I’m scared I would lose control and never get it back.😅

What spray paint did you use? I’m looking to paint mine in the BEA retro scheme. Cheers.
Just rattle cans from Halfords
Has belly landing onto the nacelles caused any damage yet?
No, all been fine. I have put it down gently each time so far though 😄
