Power Cuts, Panettone & Christmas In The English Countryside | House & Garden (Story 14)
A lot has happened, a new arrival and life has changed a lot! The festive period is just around the corner so it’s time to get ready for a cosy Christmas in the English countryside…
It’s been a long time since I’ve last uploaded, but I have been filming! I thought I’d break the silence and just edit something more recent and upload. So, here you have it, a festive vlog, with lots of baking, real life and Christmas shopping.
I was so lucky when baking the sourdough panettone: we were in the middle of storm Darragh and I’d just finished making the dough when we had a power cut. The plan had been so let these cold ferment, but with our fridge out of action, it turned into a long day of candlelit aga baking!
In this video, I pop in to some artist open studios, go shopping in Totnes, Ashburton and go dog walking in Devon and around Dartmoor. I gave a pumpkin bundt cake a go, courgette chocolate cake and drying oranges
I hope you enjoyed this more Christmas uk vlog, I’m thinking of doing more of these, so if you’re enjoying the baking videos with lots of dog walks let me know in the comments below. However, you will have to be patient with me whilst I adjust to life with a baby!
We’ve still got more work to do on the house- it’s definitely a fixer upper! For those that are new here, it’s a 1970s bungalow in Devon and make sure to subscribe if you want to follow along with our journey. And if you’re looking for a home renovation before and after make sure to turn notifications on so you don’t miss any videos!

I know it’s been 5 months since my last upload but we’ve been busy renovating our home! Life taking a backseat seems to be the only way when you do diy renovations on a budget. This summer we had a heatwave in the UK with insane temperatures. It made us realise how much of a difference insulating your home makes. If you’re wondering how to insulate your home then definitely ask your local build...
It’s Been A Long Time… | House & Garden (Story 12)

It’s been a long time… I haven’t put out a video in what feels like an age! So much has happened and I explain in this video why you haven’t heard from me in a while. You can tell just how long it’s been because I start off the video by going on a really beautiful, local woodland walk which was covered in bluebells. Before we get into the havoc of the building works. Our steels are in, the wall...
Renovating Our English Countryside Home | House & Garden (Story 11)

We've finally started renovating our English countryside home… Spring is officially here, the builders have started and we’ve managed to avoid any major bumps! I genuinely can’t believe things are finally happening! The builders are in and have made such a fast start. It’s so great to see lots of change every day and we can really start seeing this as our home in the English countryside. There ...
We Destroyed Our House | House & Garden (Story 10)

We destroyed our house… Ok, well we didn’t actually destroy it, but we’ve torn as much out as we possibly can before the renovations of our old house finally start! We’ve been waiting a long time for building works to start and this has been so satisfying to finally see some change (even if it does have to get worse to get better)! Taking out walls and ceilings has been super fun at times but a...
This Was Harder Than We Expected | House & Garden (Story 9)

The last few weeks have been doing preparations for builders and trying to keep the costs down during renovations. Now that building works have been confirmed (we got our planning permission approved), we have been getting everything ready for the builders to come in. We wanted to save our floorboards as there are places in the house which they will need replacing, but we had a bit of a struggl...
We Have News | House & Garden (Story 8)

We have some news that I can’t wait to share with you. Before this, we picked our sofa, kitchen tiles and can’t wait to get going on renovations. The planning permission process was lengthy and frustrating with lots of hoops to jump through, but we did this alone (without a planning officer), so managed to save ourselves some much needed cash. Before we found out about the planning permission o...
Little Jobs Of Renovating | House & Garden (Story 7)
Переглядів 2803 роки тому
The last few weeks I’ve been really appreciating the Autumn colours, the weather, the little jobs of renovating and just life in general. We picked up our utility room door which needed paint stripping, sanding and next up painting. I am by no means an expert in anything I’m attempting in my vlogs so if you’re wondering how to paint strip a door then please do your own research and wear safety ...

We designed our kitchen! It’s looking amazing and it’s not what we thought we would choose… In this vlog I talk about where I’m at and checking in on myself. I feel silly because we haven’t even really started renovations yet and to feel like i’ve hit a wall is frustrating. I Bought Plants To Fill A Void | Rare Houseplant Haul
My is an outside plant but I brought him in once it got cold. He’s still alive but losing his vitality. He stays dry even when I water him a week prior . What should I do?
And they respond very well to Organic fertilisers too. 🙏
Thank you for great recipe. Loved relaxing atmosphere and of course dog and cats enjoying blackberries 😂
I have had one for two years. It’s healthy but ha only two skinny stems about one foot tall. Looks like a small palm tree. How do I get more leaves on it.
Welcome back mama! It’s so nice to see little snippets of your life through your eyes. I loll’d when you moved Pig to put stuff in the aga haha. That was such a peaceful and relaxing video - and the Panatonne looked INCREDIBLE!! Xxx
Pig is so lazy, but always needs to be involved somehow 😂 I’m glad you enjoyed it- maybe I’ll freeze some panettone for you we can have next time you’re down 👀
Missed seeing you, so glad you’re well and enjoying your little one and family. Your videos are always so well made. I hope you’ll stay a while 😊❤
Thank you! I’m definitely filming but just don’t always have time to edit so I’m not sure how frequently I’ll be uploading is all, but I’m glad you’re enjoying them!
Hi, I have seedlings from seed. It took 1 month to germinate👍
Напоминает мимозу стыдливую.
Ooh so mine was fine last winter:)) I thought she was dying. I got her as a gift and I've been winging it ever since:)) I tought she needs a bigger pot but seeing yours, I guess not. This plant brightens my life I swear. I love her so much. ❤
I started mine from seed. I was reading on Google and this sounds like it's a very dangerous plant can you tell me your side of the story
Ours loves to have wet feet, lived outdoors in N. Texas and was on drip watering in full sun, watered every 3 days. Moved it to Georgia recently where it was watered every three days if it had not rained by then and flowered more than ever. It is huge and we just moved it inside for the winter to a room with full morning sun and a growliight as well. It is five feet tall and as big around. 10:26
To much dogs not enough recipient... bye
I've had my Oxalis for about 4 years, wishes I had found your video previously... o took some advice from a UK Gardening F/B page (after asking advice) and someone said you can't overwater an Oxalis.... currently mine is entering it's dormant period, I think I've overwatered her... she is looking really poor, I have her on my kitchen window, and have loads of leaf burn and bulb rot, I'm hoping with your advice I can revive my beautiful Oxalis. I have just bought some new varieties (2) from Farmer Gracy (excellent bulb co.) can you mix the bulbs at all to get different colours in one pot? Or does each species prefer its own company ❤
The dog snacking away on the berries made me laugh soo hard thank you ❤❤❤❤
Beautiful video thank you
Thank you, .... if I was a plant I would be SO HAPPY ❤❤❤❤ if you took me home 🏡 😂. Of course I am a sucker for accents, a ND good sunlight.
What happens with it in winters? Is it evergreen?
I have one of those purple shamrock beautiful plant i lovely it😎😎♥♥🌹🌹
The upside down bit does nothing. It’s a leftover from 100 years ago and different style jar. In fact, the two piece metal lid continues to exhaust as it cools, upright, forming a better seal.
Hello. If I freeze them without washing them, when do they get washed? Thanks
I always soak mine in vinegar water to evict the “squatters”. Amazing how many there are. 🤦♀️
I wish mine was this full!
Omg she’s so big! Mine is so tiny & new. I love her. I’m scared 😮 I won’t do her right but that’s why I’m here
Was given one by a freind. They told me it was a higher maintenance plant and I was worried I killed it when it went dormant this evening. Very informative, thank you!
It’s been reclassified back to epiphyllum again.
Really helpful, thank you! I have a very healthy one and I’m wondering if I need to repot it. Basing this on the amount of foliage vs the size of the pot. Although it seems happy and has new growth I just feel like it’s time..? Any thoughts on when to repot?
Should water it from the top or bottom?
Purple Shamrock ☘️ is a love ❤ of my garden 🪴 Cheers 🥂 to the shamrock !
I have many stalks but their leaves turn yellow. Mine is outdoors in FL. It has gotten a lot of rain recently. Will it come back? Should I do some cuttings-they have gotten to be tall and are mostly just stalks.
9:45 This happens With me many times. We all know this, being a plant lover we just love to be with them! Pure Happiness 😊
They are very sour in taste.
Thank you so much! Also, you did an amazingly beautiful job on video editing! ♥️ it!
Keep ours on window sill all year round and , never put fertiliser on it and it has been growing for years .
Hello. I live in Maryland, USA, and received seeds in the mail from my Aunt who lived in Florida approximately 50 years ago. I have 2 of theoriginal plants that produced seeds about 5 years ago. Grew 2 plants from those seeds up until last year when one died. Fortunately, one of the original trees has again produced a seed which is dangling from it and I'm not sure if I should wait till it falls off or should I pull it off? I can't remember what I did last time. It is 1:00 pm EST. Thank you. Gina
Had to respond because of how familiar this is... I also live in MD, and my mother living in Florida has the happiest one of these plants I've ever seen, it would be a tree outside of her house if she didn't cut it back now and then. The bush drops seed pods and she digs them up and pots them to give to friends. which is how I have mine :) I can't comment for sure, but it seems like you should wait until they fall off based off my mother's experience.
This was so relaxing!! And watching all the animals making guest appearances is so wonderful to see! Absolutely living your best life and no one deserves happy devon sunshine and cute dogs more than you. Can’t wait to visit you in that house when we’re both 80
🙂 good to see you back as always, and enjoyed the inadvertent 😁 house and kitchen update. Hope we can see more.
Thank you, it's good to be back- I've been filming lots and not really sure what to do with all the footage! Still got lots of house stuff to do but getting there! Thanks for watching this one 😊
I hope you found this video helpful! If you have any questions or advice please leave them in the comments below! Subscribe for more and remember if you liked this video be sure to give it a thumbs up! 🍓
Too much sugar.. unnecessarily so.
My shamrock plant was growing in a pot with a mother in law tongue so I separated it now it’s struggling to open and close properly what show I do ?
Nice bush!! Lol, come on you new that was coming before you shot the video im sure.😅 But seriously very nice plant that was in the beginning.
They took over the whole side of my house, I just leave them in the ground all winter and the rhizomes just spread on there own. I’m in zone 9 morning sun to early afternoon and it’s hot 🥵 this is a tough plant.
thanks for the great info!!
16:04 My plant just had two yellow fruit like balls on it. What do you know about that? By the way. I am in sw Florida, this pla nt just started growing several years ago, I thought it was a weed, I don't pull out new growth until I see what it looks like, so glad I didn't..
Thank you so much !!! ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏
Thanks for the helpful information. I had a really nice one but had to leave it behind when I moved. I kept a piece and it is growing nicely. I didn't know much about it so your info was helpful.
0:50 I see the sacred heart. Nice.
Watching
Sweet

So exciting! You two have done so much work! Thank you for the tour and update ❤
There’s definitely more updates to come, just feels like forever since I’ve sat down and edited. Hope you enjoyed it!
So glad to see your progress. Really enjoyed catching up with what you’ve been up to.
Think you might be shocked with the next video- seemed like the renovation moved 100mph when the builders were here and there wasn’t enough hours in the day to film too!
