    Ours loves to have wet feet, lived outdoors in N. Texas and was on drip watering in full sun, watered every 3 days. Moved it to Georgia recently where it was watered every three days if it had not rained by then and flowered more than ever. It is huge and we just moved it inside for the winter to a room with full morning sun and a growliight as well. It is five feet tall and as big around. 10:26

    Hello. I live in Maryland, USA, and received seeds in the mail from my Aunt who lived in Florida approximately 50 years ago. I have 2 of theoriginal plants that produced seeds about 5 years ago. Grew 2 plants from those seeds up until last year when one died. Fortunately, one of the original trees has again produced a seed which is dangling from it and I'm not sure if I should wait till it falls off or should I pull it off? I can't remember what I did last time. It is 1:00 pm EST. Thank you. Gina

      Had to respond because of how familiar this is... I also live in MD, and my mother living in Florida has the happiest one of these plants I've ever seen, it would be a tree outside of her house if she didn't cut it back now and then.
      The bush drops seed pods and she digs them up and pots them to give to friends. which is how I have mine :)
      I can't comment for sure, but it seems like you should wait until they fall off based off my mother's experience.

    16:04 My plant just had two yellow fruit like balls on it. What do you know about that? By the way. I am in sw Florida, this pla nt just started growing several years ago, I thought it was a weed, I don't pull out new growth until I see what it looks like, so glad I didn't..

    I have many stalks but their leaves turn yellow. Mine is outdoors in FL. It has gotten a lot of rain recently. Will it come back? Should I do some cuttings-they have gotten to be tall and are mostly just stalks.

    I have had one for two years. It’s healthy but ha only two skinny stems about one foot tall. Looks like a small palm tree. How do I get more leaves on it.

    So I have one of these that's about 10 years old..it's two giant sticks and gets its leaves at the top, this year it got some leaves on the bottom too but they're just the green stems not sticks. Id love to have it bush out, can I cut it in fall/winter after it drops its leaves? I'm terrified to cut its sticks :(

      To be completely honest I have never propagated this, but I can’t imagine why you can’t try!

    Mine is just a long stick with a couple of leaves on top how do I cut it do I cut

    • @FlorenceOzkan
      @FlorenceOzkan  2 роки тому

      I wouldn’t cut it, it’ll take a while to get to a decent size and the energy from the leaves will go back into the caudex when it goes dormant

    HELP!! I purchased one of these plants online and it arrived in terrific shape. However, as if overnight, the leaves are turning stark yellow. It happened really fast and seems to have started at the bottom leaves and is working upward. Am I going to lose the plant? It wasn’t cheap and I can’t replace it.

      It might be because it was in the dark for some time in the post. Have you got it in very bright direct light and have you checked the soil isn’t too moist? They like to dry out! Also they’re not a fan of any moisture on their leaves. If it’s losing leaves from the bottom and working it’s way up don’t worry too much- I’ve had growths on mine lose all the leaves and just be a stem and they’ve recovered!

    The leaves leak if they break. The milky sap can be used to treat cuts and scrapes.

    Here in Indonesia, we use the sap of the plant to heal wounds...

      Warning: It is very painfull at the first application to the wound, but the efficacy is good...
