It was also a concept art of final fortress being a waterbase or sunk into the water. Seeing how perfect chaos took place on water, it makes sense on why it was scrapped
My current theory is the fact that we’re fighting Metal Overlord in Space Port means that this _isn’t_ Metal Overlord. Not really. It’s the fake Metal Sonic created by the Phantom Ruby, powered up into a Metal Overlord form.
I think it’s just egg fleet if it was supposed to be space port they wouldn’t have recolored it I think it’s just asset reuse which normally I wouldn’t like but it’s fine for this boss cuz it’s water based and the assets are in the background
Shadow 1 actually has a bunch of stages where you surf on a Black Arms hover-board. Black Comet and Prison Island both spring to mind. I think Doom Surf will mainly be an overworld thing, but I would bet that the Black Comet final stage will use it extensively.
Mephiles definitely needs to return. C’mon we gotta have all of shadows personal opps in this game. And back in 06 mephiles was a menace and became a protagonist killer even tho sonic was brought back
Considering in an old trailer there was an animation where Shadow got the wings, and in this lates trailer too when Shadow is about to fly in radical highway he steps out of an animation that was different then the other one on the Ark, so it's fair to assume the wings will only be accessible in certain parts, similar to how in the footage we saw Shadow couldn't always use Chaos Control.
I have a guess as to why metal is in space port. Spoilers for the first arc of IDW sonic. In that Neo metal sonic mentioned that he was supposed to be released during the Eggman war in forces to help out but by the time he came out of containment the war was over and Eggman was missing. If they do alternate time lines like you mentioned maybe this is a timeline where Neo metal was worked on a lot sooner and was able to fight for eggmans side during forces.
I've counted at least six levels: 1. Radical Highway (Sonic Adventure 2, too much different footage to not be its own level at this point) 2. Bullet Station (Sonic Heroes) 3. Space Colony ARK (Shadow The Hedgehog) 4. Kingdom Valley (Sonic The Hedgehog 06) 5. Sunset Heights (Sonic Forces) 6. Chaos Island (Sonic Frontiers) Hopefully we get at least three more to get the game up to Sonic's amount, for future stages I predict Death Yard (Sonic Rivals), Shrouded Forest (Sonic and the Black Knight), and Asteroid Coaster (Sonic Colors).

Uhhh I think the game seems as long as gens if not longer if you consider the hubworld missions and there’s at LEAST 6 levels each with multiple acts and a boss fight every level. I was initially worried it would be some half assed bs like episode shadow from sonic forces but no this is basically a full sonic game.
It would be interesting if Chaos Island had multiple paths to the Goal Ring. Giving a more open level as it’s like choosing what stage you want to play in the Chaos Island theme. Like one version of the level primarily uses Doom Morph, while another one is mostly base Shadow, while another one he primarily uses HM Surf. And all of these different stages has their fastest times be the same no matter what.
If the end shows up in shadow generations we all know shadow would rather be sent to the firey depths of hell than team up let alone accept help from the primary reason for shadows suffering his entire life/his biological half father black doom.
Giving him Doom powers should've been what they did back in the Shadow the Hedgehog game instead of letting him use realistic guns or ride motorcycles. The alternate was Ratchet and Clank styled guns but that's more of Tails' territory. I bet these powers are like wisps.
Even if Shadow Generations isn’t better than Frontiers, the bundle (Sonic x Shadow Generations) will definitely be the best Sonic game. Regular Generations is already peak, so add even more peak and you get the best game easily.
Imagine if they add new stages and more cutscenes to base generations and the shadow part of the game is longer than we think. Like, we are comparing shadow generation's lenght based on sonic generation's lenght, and base gens isnt too long of a game so it seems the shadow portion is quite short. If they are indeed adding more content to sonic gens, this will be huge, like best sonic game material. Thats just wishful thinking, but this shadow portion looks like to me that its not going to be thaaat short
How can it be “perfect” when the OG is already kind of flawed. My personal favorite is SA1 but I think Sonic Frontiers is the closest we’ve gotten to “perfect” and even that is more of a 8/10 game

Chaos spear is one at a time, Doom Spear is multiple at once
Chaos Spear is locking one target in a single button press, holding that button will lock up to 5 targets.
