I think enemy territory is the best multiplayer game ever made. I don't regret spending 8 hours a day perfecting the Fuel Dump wall jump, jumping from player to player as a medic to revive them, strafing back and forth while aiming at the head, spamming "we need a covert ops!" to get someone to open the door for me, planting fake dynos to trick axis engineers, watching frag movies, and getting the whole team with one air strike.
“Best multiplayer game ever made” you clearly haven’t played Fortnite bro. Blud really thinks this 20 year old game is better than the best game ever made: Fortnite.
20 years later I'm still waiting for another game like ET. Made life-long lasting friends playing it and it still holds a dear place in my heart. No FPS has come closer to it in the level required to excel: raw skill, teamplay, tactics. You guys had a chance to do something like it with Dirty Bomb but blew it. I still wonder if something like ET can ever come back in this days of gen-z gaming ridden with microtransactions, matchmaking lootboxes, battle passes and the constant need for "progress". Back in the day you joined a random server with people of all skill levels and got your ass kicked until you became good enough to do the ass kicking. That was the progress. Everyone had the same 5 guns, the same armor, the same skin and nobody cared. The fun was getting better and meeting friends along the way. How have we changed, haven't we.
As much as I would LOVE to see another Game like this, I don't think that this dream will come true. Its just been another time of games when this was made. A Modern game of this kind would be full of buyble skins, dlc's and whatsover and would start to look like RB6 does now. Started out as a quiet decent and fresh approach. now it plays like another COD....
Battlefield was kinda influenced by RTCW. I used to play RTCW ET a lot, up until Battlefield 3. Then I got to that, and then to Battlefield 4. After that, Dice ruined the series. But BF3 and 4 have a similar class based, objective based, multiplayer. People still play BF4 too, after 10 years.
@@OrphicPolytheist- agree totally, I used to play BF3 a lot and it had some parallels with Wolf:ET in play style, though similarly my interest in that series tailed off massively from BF4 onward when the recipe got completely screwed over
Enemy Territory was a wild indirect success story, that in theory, shouldn't have been as good as it was. Thankfully, ET was that outlier that became my childhood gaming identity and I am so grateful for it. I played it as my main game from 2003 until 2011. I made many great friends, clan members and in general the people of the community. The simple fact that the community had an SDK and a map editor allowed it to keep on living and keep the game fresh. From Jaymod, to NoQuarter, to Nitmod, to Silentmod, to Paintball Mods, to Starwars mods to ET Legacy. The presentation of it being WW2, it can run on most PCs at the time and the simple underlying fact that it ran the idtech3 engine is what makes it feel so damn good. Today's engines cannot replicate the smoothness and performant gameplay. I still love ET to this day.
I played from 2003 until 2008 all on the same server mostly,I got to know most of the regular players. It was so addictive,I used to play 12 hours straight on weekends
I played this game religiously in my younger years. Splash Damage really are the best at building engaging class-based multiplayer games. Dirty Bomb also really captured that same spark for me and I still play that, I also jump on Wolf:ET every now and again too, it truly does hold up.
dirty bomb was fucking trash pay to win.... the card system for your classes. for example bushwacker, the stock card with turret. the turret would not shoot the enemy instantly there was a delay. the "rare" card you could "pay to win" and buy, would let the turret shoot instantly. put two bushwackers on a team, set turrets side by side a few feet apart. they instantly shred anyone who comes near them. sure you could try to air strike them dead. but by the time you do that, they put down two more, and you are fucked. the game was super unfair, which is why it fucking died. ET was completely fair and no one player could have an advantage over another.
I think one of the main reasons why this game is still being played, is that SD opened the code to an very active modding community. ET:Legacy for example fixes a lot of the old Engine (Q3) Bugs and makes this game more enjoyable in the current year.
I've met some special people in my life from this game, funny enough that they're in this video... those memories will stay with me - while I don't play as much as I used to, I hop in, just remembering and enjoying the best of times. Hopefully, there's an event here in North America one day
I was 2 years old when this game was released. My father and grandfather had been playing Wolfenstein since Wolfenstein 3D. As early as I can remember I was playing this game with my father and brother on the QAW Clan servers. Those servers and this game shaped a huge part of my life. I will search all my life for another game like ET but I know deep down it was truly unique.
Oh, the good old days of RTCW and ET! I really miss the friendship and laughter we had on the server we played on. The main reason I still miss them both, besides the community, is the ability to set up your own server and moderate it as you wish. And you did it for free! The second reason is that you had all the tools you needed to make your own mods and maps. These days I don't play any games but if they decide to make a remake, with a modern game engine and set up a hub server, like in the good old days, I can assure you I will start playing again. I still live on hope…
My brother introduced me to ET back when I was way too young to play it ... Together with him, his friends and my friends we played quite a lot and even had small LAN parties where we easily played for 12 hours straight. Back then when xFire was still a thing I can remember that i had 1000+ play hours in ET. Well I still love and sometimes play it to this day. Especially thanks to the team behind ETLegacy who show what this possible to do with this gem of game. For me no other multiplayer captured this feeling when playing a match with friends, choosing the right class to support each other and simply having a good time.
Can't believe this game has come back after all these years the best game I have ever played gave playing it because of all the hackers and people using aimbots which killed one of the greatest my name was BigSmoke UK I'm definitely going to get it
W:ET and Dirty Bomb are the only MP-Games which I have played (very) intensively and especially with W:ET I had an unforgettable good time. Not only on the servers but also in TS, forums and RL. Still have my massively tweaked cfg backuped.
so many good memories.. played this game for about 7 years.. won a german LAN (Enlarged) vs legends like wEAK in the finals and played in the Androits ET Masters LAN in 2012.. was really fun to see all those guys, which I played with and against all those years.. played the game again 2-3 times in the past few years through the discord channel but sadly it's not the same anymore.. but it was a really good time :)
In Australia, it was the previous RTCW that was a huge hit with players and Clans playing pub (public) servers and comp matches. It was a tight community, with plenty of distinct personalities, it was a great experience. By the time Enemy Territory came along, the scene had slowed down some, and the glory days were over.
Our ET clan was an evolution of a RTCW clan. I played Quake3 but RTCW only in SP mode before I joined ET. Those RTCW MP veterans were a different build. I could count on them in clanwars.
Back then, I was heavily playing the Quake games, and decided to try Wolfenstein: ET since it was a free download. I was blown away. It was so much fun. I especially liked stealing enemy clothes to sneak into the backdoor of... the enemy territory. An unforgettable experience.
Indisputably the best online multiplayer fps ever made. The fact that we haven't had anything similar to it since Quake Wars is evidence that the modern fps industry has no sense of taste. Who owns the rights to it?
thank you splash damage for everything, this game gave more such a knowledge of scripting and web dev around our clan, i wouldn't be where im today if not ET
Thank you for this video. Just watching gave me goosebumps. I used to play this game from Egypt when I was 12 years old, now I am 26 and it is still giving me very good memories I had always dreamed that I would be a pro player on it and jump in big stages :D I do have friends we are still in touch for almost 15 years now because of this game, If you ask me one wish of my life in the gaming industry, is a remake of this legendary game to cope with the current generation of gamers ^_^
I really have great memories of that game. The first time, I saw it on a German gaming TV channel "GIGA Games", I was like "What the hell are those awesome graphics?" From there on, I couldnt wait to play that game. The game modes were awesome, the classes were awesome and the enjoyment of the game was awesome. Can we all agree on a remake with state of the art graphics? Unreal Engine 5 maybe?
Answer is simple: it has great community. ETLegacy developers doing great thing with reviving old school ET gameplay but also clans like Fearless Assassins providing safe servers for players for years now. All it takes is dedication and passion. It's great game so it deserves it.
Nice to see ET is still alive and has a community behind it. I was around 24 when it was released, and spent many hours playing it with my friends. For me, it was and still is the best multiplayer approach to any game. Good memories ❤
The game's perfect as it is. Matchmaking is bad and/or stupid for many reasons and there's no point in making a ranked mode for the 100 competitive players who still play.
My first online FPS game was Wolfenstein:ET, what a great game, amazing community (shout out to the EEF clan for taking me in even though I was still just a kid xD). Are you planning another one of these events? Would be cool to pick this game back up since I see not much has changed over time!
Holy shit, this game is my everything, where I learned history at the age of 7, where my love for first person shooting came from, where I learned teamwork, funny communication via key strokes V45, OGs would know what that means v57 woo-hoo, any case I'm 28 now an I've spent more than 10yrs maybe 15yrs on an off, this game floods back so many memories from the noise from the guns, to the objective commentator, allied or German, when I hit 70 with alsymers this is what I want stuck on loop memories of this game.
I'm confident that if Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory underwent a modernization in terms of graphics and gained expanded options for ranked play, it could become a serious competitor to Counter-Strike. Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is, after all, an original game, and with a new visual appearance, it might garner more attention and interest from players. With improved graphics and enhanced features, this fantastic game could experience a real boom, attracting both new and existing players with its distinctive atmosphere and originality.
I'm 32, I played RCTW from like 11 years old to 15. I was hanging out with people older than me and I learned so many great skills of team work and friendship. I came back here cause I was at my local coffee shop the other day and the barista is german, he's going back home for a holiday and I just randomly without thinking said "Auf Wiedersehen!" the only reason I know that is cause of ET, I laughed when I realised. I wana play again and relive those carefree days. ET's gameplay is just unrivalled IMO
I just tried playing Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory with the ETLegacy mod in 2024 and it's incredible. Last time I played, it was like 17 years ago and I didn't have a good PC back then, but on a modern PC iwth ETLegacy, widescreen support and high framerate, I'm just shocked how fluid the movement and the whole experience is. It's like the best use of the ID Tech3 engine I've seen. Everything feels as it should. Nothing feels dated!
My father hosted a server called Alex's Play Pen when I was younger. I played on it for years, we even have the server files to an extent still, though they are severely damaged. I'd love someone's help to get them back up and fully running with bots. I've been trying to get it back for years so I can just see it again one last time.
I played Wolf ET since the day it came out. From playing on my custom built AMD rig in 2003 to used dell xps laptops I would be in the 2000s to even playing on a dell workstation during covid. Now I am debating to redownload and play on my 4090 rig!
20 years ago I played this game all weekend, the server I lived on was "The Dog Pound" based in Canada. Awesome game when the server was full of real players 👏 😀
I loved fiddling around / tweaking all those configs :D. And when I finally got a PC that could handle 125 fps the player base became quite tiny :( Sadly there aren't really that many cool ETpro server around anymore.. :(
They can't. It isn't their game. It's, essentially, a failed RTCW mod. Gray Matter & Id done all the hard work, the ET community did the rest (shout out to bani and many others). ET was a success in spite of SD, not because of them.
I was 16 when i found this game since then i couldnt stop playin it now im 28 still playin it sometimes i would say its the best game ever i wanted that someone remake this game with better graphics maps etc..
Honestly it just gets class based team vs team gameplay right. Everyone is a dps but also has their role to play (medic heals and revives, support gets ammo and damage bursts, engineer pulls off objectives and covert ops and soldier act as situational wildcards like breaching special doors and mortar from across the map) Playing games like overwatch where everyone has an assigned role of drawing fire , healing or dealing damage doesnt sit right with me because they lose out a lot on the dynamic feeling rtcw(and ET) had Combined with a bunch of neat maps, campaign mode for that team vs team and sub objectives it just works
Most of the time, there's more servers than there's players, so no worries. Also, those are actual dedicated servers and the game is open-source. Unlike most current games, this game is immortal, in a way.
Been playing ET since day one...and just played tonight 20 years later. I miss playing with my clan mates from TSF....we were a band of brothers! Shoutout to the OGs- Thantis, Deez Nuts, Kurushio, DJ Storm, Dark Soverign, Hennebury, Hus, Lazyboy, Singular Element, Devestation. Been asked to join other clans and just cant bring myself to do it...TSF STFU N Play!!
i swear this game saved me in my childhood. nobody new this game also, and shared it with nobody. it was my game and i met so many people at that young age. mannnnn i remember the days i beat up everyone in every clan in a 1v1 as a 13 year old
Enemy territory was my first big foray into online shooters. I played unreal tournament on dreamcast for a first experience of fps online. But enemy territory was my favorite ever. Even into bfbc2, bf3, bf4, bf5, it just doesnt compare. They all look and feel better. But enemy territory was, to be as cheesy as i can be, magical.
Awesome that this game has been around so long and people still play. Don’t know who any of these players are, but hopefully Pootie Poo was there. That dude is a straight legend!
I enjoyed the psychotic explanation made by the girl. It is not the typical "Ooh, it is a thrilling experience of team effort achieved dominance over opposing team. A true strategic and tactical challenge in the fastest paced environment there is". The "I like the sound of murder, it makes good feels inside" seems way more true and real to me, than the standard overblown advertisement.
I played a lot with a guy from Canada (Winnipeg I believe). It have been years and I have tried to find him, but with no luck so far. We got to be good buddies and we had lot in common. We run a ET server together as well. His game Nick was Roadwarrior, mine was Hugin, and the Clan nick was =WT= (War Torn). I am 57 now, he was a bit younger than me I think. If you should see this, give me a shout out!
Hello,I played from 2003 until 2008 mostly on this Canada based server called "The Dog Pound" On my weekends I could play 12 hours straight so easy....some of my favourites were Fuel Dump,Gold Rush, Basearace
It died because they refused to fix the problems in the game, and lied several times claiming they had fixed them, as well as making it really inbalanced. People left for those reasons -- not because of "hacks".
damn, this game was hetic! I played it a lot in a clan as a youngster, we played also in clanbase in top 25. Fun game! Maybe its time to come back if servers are still alive....
One of the best online FPS ever made for PC. Had to stop playing though once the cheating became too rampant (aimbot and wallhacks), it got to the point where even I got accused and banned from one of the most fun servers, sucks. Game in its prime was just heavenly though. I still think about coming back to play sometimes, but I can't even imagine where to start to look for a good server anymore.

I came back here cause I was at my local coffee shop the other day and the barista is german, he's going back home for a holiday and I just randomly without thinking said "Auf Wiedersehen!"
the only reason I know that is cause of ET, I laughed when I realised.
Nothing feels dated!
still im playing this game, i started to play it at the age of 16 and now i have 29. Still im playing it, is my favourite game at all
Wait there are LAN tournaments for this game still? That's awesome
Thank you for making a video about ET! I have had so much love for it my whole life.
Do you have any memories to share? Check out our pinned comment under the video!
Because it’s the best game on the market still in 2024
Bring back, dirty bomb, WolfET and ETQW please! 😢
All of them!?
@@splashdamage They're all in your DNA. Just make another game!
@@splashdamage yes or a new enemy territory with hero characters. We just need more of your games!
@@lisaparker271 Hero characters? Fuck no, keep it to classes.
@@splashdamage Better be hiring!
Greatest multiplayer FPS ever made. So much good memories and the game still holds up today and that is saying a lot!
omg mAus omg
My father hosted a server called Alex's Play Pen when I was younger. I played on it for years, we even have the server files to an extent still, though they are severely damaged. I'd love someone's help to get them back up and fully running with bots.
I've been trying to get it back for years so I can just see it again one last time.
my first online game. I spent so much time on perfecting my cfg and doing custom binds. Also, the sound of headshot was so satisfying.
RTCW and this were my first online multiplayer games that I hardcore got into. Miss the Xian's and ND80 servers.
Please make a remastered version of this. I Love this game.
My favorite game is still alive???
I played Wolf ET since the day it came out. From playing on my custom built AMD rig in 2003 to used dell xps laptops I would be in the 2000s to even playing on a dell workstation during covid. Now I am debating to redownload and play on my 4090 rig!
why did you stop with dirty bomb ??
20 years ago I played this game all weekend, the server I lived on was "The Dog Pound" based in Canada. Awesome game when the server was full of real players 👏 😀
I'm still playing this game and I still love it after 20 years 😍
Played for about 6 years with the ABC clan. Loved this game so much.
I loved fiddling around / tweaking all those configs :D. And when I finally got a PC that could handle 125 fps the player base became quite tiny :( Sadly there aren't really that many cool ETpro server around anymore.. :(
since i was 16, im still playing today almost 16 years later
You guys should repopularize ET and maybe even make a remake with a unique adventure mod on solo, add more weapons, more maps possibly.
They can't. It isn't their game. It's, essentially, a failed RTCW mod. Gray Matter & Id done all the hard work, the ET community did the rest (shout out to bani and many others). ET was a success in spite of SD, not because of them.
@@macdeluxe733 Oh my bad. Well I still hope it's gonna be done one day.
The game is 20 years old and yet everybody in the video looks 30 years old max, goes to show the attractiveness of this game.
One of my favorite games of that time. Probably played it more than cs 1.5 and 1.6 thats how huge it was for me. I might download it again.
I was 16 when i found this game since then i couldnt stop playin it now im 28 still playin it sometimes i would say its the best game ever i wanted that someone remake this game with better graphics maps etc..
Where can i still download and play it its been a very long time.
Honestly it just gets class based team vs team gameplay right. Everyone is a dps but also has their role to play (medic heals and revives, support gets ammo and damage bursts, engineer pulls off objectives and covert ops and soldier act as situational wildcards like breaching special doors and mortar from across the map)
Playing games like overwatch where everyone has an assigned role of drawing fire , healing or dealing damage doesnt sit right with me because they lose out a lot on the dynamic feeling rtcw(and ET) had
Combined with a bunch of neat maps, campaign mode for that team vs team and sub objectives it just works
Not to mention it was one of the most addictive games out there
does anyone remember the "i'm office" guy on the CDC/CIC Lan? Who was that again? :D
ET is a part of my being. That is what it means to me. I'd truly be sad if the servers went down.
Can you check out our comment pinned under the video? We need people's help to make another video
Most of the time, there's more servers than there's players, so no worries. Also, those are actual dedicated servers and the game is open-source. Unlike most current games, this game is immortal, in a way.
Great to see you Sebhes, played with you in the 2.55 servers! Please tell me it’s still active 😂
best game ever made!
damn those days... used to play this all night and was pretty good at it.
played as a medic and my tag was minister_of_health :D
How to join the next event? :D
It's in my top two of multiplayer games I played. Perfect mix of skill and fun.
Would love to get a remaster of this game.
lovely, nostalgic, so much fun!!! miss so much!!
Been playing ET for years,Mad severs; Whosgaming, Lone wolf. Testicles sever, F/A servers, and now the new and cool servers, and back and forth too.
My neighbor brought me an original CD disk with the game and I still have it.
Wow glad to see that this game is now available on Steam =)
sadly, steams version is horrible, they did nothing for the game. Definitely look into downloading ET:Legacy
Z niecierpliwoscia czekam na Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory 2 🔥
Mam nadzieje, ze nadejdzie taki dzien 💪
Ta gra na zawsze w sercu ❤
nie bedzie juz drugiej takiej gry
i swear this game saved me in my childhood. nobody new this game also, and shared it with nobody. it was my game and i met so many people at that young age. mannnnn i remember the days i beat up everyone in every clan in a 1v1 as a 13 year old
Man I miss this game. That and ETQW. Many tournaments were attended.
Make it happen!!! Give us what want!!! ENEMY TERRITORY 2
ET and Xfire. those were the days !
i used to play in Enschede on CrossFire Lans and shit. Met the big players like mAus, butchji, Winghaven etc.pp - awesome time, i miss it
Faltou meu nome.matematica ou.lindem
Were any of the players here from the Nexus (N3) clan? Toxicdave, Dayna etc.
One does always return to castle Wolfenstein
Check on trackbase or splatterladder in the section playername search ,maybe you can figure out if he is still playing .
does this game work out of the box nowadays or is it highly incompatible with modern hardware?
Wolf ET was the biggest game next to CnC Renegade to me. DirtyBomb shared the same fun, but sadly died from hacks.
It died because they refused to fix the problems in the game, and lied several times claiming they had fixed them, as well as making it really inbalanced. People left for those reasons -- not because of "hacks".
I had met really cool people on this game when i was a kid . If your tag was ravanelli or chosenone give me a reply . I still play
Ich wusste nicht, dass ET noch so gespielt wird.
I was really good at this game, had an amazing team 15 years ago, and to me, this is still the best team game ever made.
I need to get another computer.... i havent played this since 2008 maybe.... ive missed it everyday since
Yo comenze a jugar en el 2005 actualmente cuando puedo entra al f/a todavía se pone muy bueno con jugadores muy pro en el video juego
ZEE ENEMY IS VEEKEND! JAWOHL!
Please make Wolf: ET 2 or ET remastered :)
ET legacy exists and it's an active project with pretty much everything improved
damn, this game was hetic!
