Glenn opened up for this band I was in in 1993 on January 15th at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta. Amazing. We got him to sit in with us for a few tunes in the second set, tracks 11, 12, and 19 in the player on the right at this link. He took over the Conversation like few we got to sit in ever had. Please go to archive with a dot org, search The Grapes in live music and 1993-1-15, Variety Playhouse, Atlanta GA.
A friend of mine who was in Atlanta around 1969 said he was forced to make a choice between seeing the Allman Brothers and the Hampton Grease Band live. I saw the Allmans and they were great, but after hearing Music to Eat, I would rather have seen the Hampton Grease Band.
Booked The Glenn Phillips Band for a night in a tiny bar in Elberton, GA. By the 3rd or 4th song, the place was SRO and over fire marshal capacity. One helluva talent.
I live in Belfast NI and got a Glenn Phillips album by accident 30 years ago, having heard him in the cool bedroom of TD McDowell 5 years before that in his Hampton days. So wonderful to see him up there. He has fans here in Belfast. We talk about him even now, among other things. Great to see him playing so well. Always a genius.
Jesus, horizon900! I've just been to see a Jimi Hendrix at Atlanta 1970 movie, which had commentary from Col Bruce Hampton & Glenn Phillips, and just saw this comment! Are you DB??
Saw Glen in the 80's in a little club here in Boston and was blown away...Been awhile since I thought of him and didn't know what happened to him Glad to see he is still as dangerous!
Glenn is pretty awesome...saw him & the HGB several times at The 12th Gate in '69-'70

How can you not love a guy playing a Gibson L6-S fitted out with a Fender Jazzmaster tremolo. One of a kind guitarist with a one of a kind guitar
I think Glenn should of played with Miles but He would of stole the show!
Glenn Phillips ~ Pure Genius.
