Spiritual covering is both biblical and needed. Spiritual as in leader that is Spirit led and displaying fruit that will be held accountable for shepherding my soul… Hebrews 13:17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Yes we are accountable to one another but we don’t have to give an account to God for one another…the pastor does for those God has placed in his hands. I appreciate you covering this topic. I've always had questions regarding this and didn't find anything specific to how many people describe it. I appreciate prayers in general....but this, " a covering", seems to be another topic taken out of context in many instances.
Thank You Cory! Been saying this for some time now. But folk get real upset when u tell em this… That saying has been used largely as a “guerilla” control tactic by most Pastors.. Very crafty mind control, under the guise of spiritual submission!
I still think all these scriptures in Paul's letters talking about a "woman" or "women" is speaking about wives, and not unmarried women. Just by the definition of "woman" in the greek.
This is quite simple actually. "Spiritual coverings" are not biblical. What it boils down to is this. What do YOU mean by it? What does your CHURCH mean by it? Just like "Christian" does not make you a follower of the Way. Make sure YOU and your CHURCH define how you're going to use that term because it is abused and does indeed cause spiritual abuse. Reading the bible is not the same as studying the bible. So make sure before you want to use or claim "Spiritual coverings" that you clearly have a strong understanding of that term. (1 Corinthians 4:6) Grace and peace everyone.
I believe what shared here is ok. I believe to some degrees a shepherd covers, protects his sheep. For instance if the shepherd does not preach good doctrine and live a life of compromise the sheep will be exposed to demonic attacks and wolves. Wolves at k the sheep because they lack protection. Who provides the protection? It’s the shepherd. That is spiritual covering. However, they provide the covering to the degree they are under good doctrine and live a sound life in rafts to the doctrine. So I conclusion, there is such a thing as spiritual covering.
My question is. What are they covering? 🤔 People need to come out of this mindset! First off the Blood of Jesus covers! Now you can pray for someone and stand in the gap and make up the hedge( Ezekiel 22:30) for those who can't pray for themselves if they are feeble-minded and weak God will protest them and bring them to a place of deliverance because prayer changes things. ( Psalm 34:17) But we are putting too much hope and confidence in a human being who falls short of themselves. Lord give your people more knowledge of your Word!
Sometimes Spiritual covering is jus a matter of how people are using that term. If someone is under a pastor to obey everything they say, then that's wrong but if it's submitting to the local church but doing it according to the word of God and if they are not doing anything not in the bible then that is fine
So glad you addressed this fallacy. God showed ne this six years ago when we left an “apostolic” type church! My christian husband is my spiritual covering not my pastor. That type of thinking opens the door for spiritual and sexual abuse thats happening!
I know a church where they have spiritual covering and the congregation calls the pastor and his wife "dad" and "mom". The pastor dictates if a member of his congregation can go to a family gathering, even special events like weddings, and even if the family is christian but does not belong to their church. Very sad.
I never knew heard people using covering as to say they are over a person. Secondly, there is a such thing as a spiritual covering in marriage. It says THEREFORE AS THE CHURCH IS SUBJECT TO CHRIST, LET WIVES BE TO THEIR OWN HUSBANDS IN EVERYTHING. When a woman is married, her covering becomes her husband. This is why Shara called Abraham Lord. The husband has Lordship over his wife.,(IN THE LORD) He is not thee Lord, but her “marital Lord” if I can use that term.
Jesus Christ is the HEAD of every man, and the man is the HEAD of every woman! This is speaking of a GODLY HUSBAND and his WIFE! I've been a widow for several years now, and NO man just walking down the street is my HEAD! However, I do firmly AGREE that a woman should be SILENT in the assemblies and NOT to usurp authority over men siting in the pews! Women DO NOT belong in the pulpit! Jesus said so!!!
While I completely agree with the husband being the head of the wife, Jesus never said that women didn't belong in the pulpit. It was actually Jesus who allowed women to be His disciples, something that was unheard of at the time. The entire point of a disciple is to one day become a teacher and train their own disciples, so Jesus taking on women disciples was approving of women teachers (or rabbis as they were called at the time). Also, it's hard for a woman to keep silent while also prophesying (which is clearly permitted in the N.T. as well as the O.T.) or making a joyful noise, or teaching the younger women, or reading Scripture (did you know that Paul sent out Pheobe to bring the letter to the Roman church and with that, she was charged to read it and explain it to them? So, Pheobe literally taught and brought the Word to the men of the Roman church) The Scriptures you quote have been misused for many years.
I am with you on this my brother..........Mark Chapter 9 38-50, shows what you are saying my brother as longcas we don't go against Christ we are on his side, I don't have a church home, and majority of the ministers that I have met are not in full agreement with Christ, so I show them their errors according to the scriptures and then I stop fellowshiping with them until they make the changes or God tells me to go back I don't have a problem correcting someone according to the scriptures if they deviate from them, I constantly stay correcting my family members who are Jehovah's Witnesses they no longer try to have bible studies with me .......😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you for rebutting this unbiblical doctrine and presenting it correctly. 🙏🙏 Far too much of what calls itself Christianity has devolved into stupidstition and paganism.
I am reformed and I like churches that hold to a confession. Why? It puts every church member on the same baseline. It reduces the potential for spiritual abuse in this context.
As a pastor myself I believe that coverings may not be Biblical but if we look at Hebrews 10:25, KJV. We are not supposed to forsake the assembly of ourselves together as is the manner of some. I believe if you don't want a spiritual covering then you should be accountable to a local church pastor if you are a pastor of people. However, if you are going too oversee someone its important to remember you are a servant and not higher than anyone else. So coverings and organizations may not be Biblical but if you pastor a church you should seek God for an overseer. Its not eise to ho alone.
Thanks Corey. I hope that more believers see that Jesus hates the teachings of the nicolatians, even He states this to the congregations in Revelation.
Jesus is the High Priest in the order of Melchizedek. Jesus is our covering and is at the right hand of the Father (authority/power) interceding on our behalf.
"Coverings" are a spiritual pyramid scheme.. if your pastor is your covering and his pastor is his covering and so forth.. someone has to be at the top.. And that person is the person who talks to Christ for everyone else under them??? This takes away from our "personal" relationship with Christ..
I agree that there's a great deal of abuse that goes on in churches in relation to authority and covering. However, I was curious as to how the passage in 1 Cor 5:1-5 was not mentioned. This is the passage where Paul rebukes the church at Corinth for not dealing with the sexually immoral person among them. Long story short; Paul calls for the person to be "delivered unto Satan..." Now this certainly doesn't mean having some dark ritual and placing the guy in the center of a pentagram. Instead, it means to dispel him from the fellowship - so that he may suffer the destruction of his flesh (perhaps his health, his general well being, etc.) But this does imply, since this dis-fellowship carries a penalty, that there is a form of covering that belongs to a true church. It is not the pastor or some other individual, - but it is the praying, believing fellowship of those who are true recipients of God's grace who worship him together. I am submitting this comment because I am a Christian and I see a trend growing among professing believers to bad-mouth the body of Christ. There are plenty false teachers and scammers, and they make me just a sick as they make every other true believer; but let's not despise the assembling together of ourselves (Heb. 10:24-25). That assembling that the scriptures speak of is not UA-cam. I enjoy this channel and I encourage you all to love the biblical church. If you haven't found a good church - find one. You might try looking at the ones that are not so gorgeous and operating on multi-million dollar budgets.
This is heresy the five fold ministry has authority to those that are members. Christ is the head of all and his five fold ministry represents his authority.
Brother Corey Minor, Thank you for striving to be a balanced teacher! I have a question for you. What are you doing concerning this commandment Jesus gives to his disciples? Are you making disciples or are you causing questions and confusion? Are you being a part of God's plan to redeem man to himself? Look carefully and examine the work that you do. Are you bringing souls to the kingdom and training disciples? Are you connecting the body of Christ together as one body or are you separating? Lord Jesus gave us a commandment to make disciples to build his kingdom! Matthew 28:18-20 NKJV [18] And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. [19] Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [20] teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

@smartchristianchannel So what local church do you attend, fellowship, and have membership? And who is the Pastor there? Who labors among you and lends you instruction about the word of God?
I agree that scripture didn’t teach a spiritual covering. The head covering is a literal covering. Men don’t wear hats in church because of this passage, but women aren’t held to the standard given to them in the same passage. Paul wrote it as literal, it was understood at literal for over 1900 years until around the 1960’s when people suddenly thought it was spiritual. That was also around the time modern feminism blew up, roe v wade happened, and women started pushing more into men’s spaces. Coincidence? I think not. 1900 years it was considered literal and 60+ years of it being interpreted as spiritual.
Covering was to give the woman the ability to pray and prophecy and not go through the man. He teaches this by saying the woman has hair to cover her head the head of woman is man. She covers the man with her hair. She is able to do the Lord's work without the man.
This feeds perfectly into the mindset of eating from ‘different spiritual tables’ and/or ‘spiritual food poisoning’. How is it a different meal or poison when it’s (supposed to be) the same Holy Spirit?
In love I say this, as a pastor. You reference titles, but the problem is the church has not been doing a good job of stewarding the titles, that doesn't change the fact that Christ himself released five government officials and they are not dead, especially since he is not. " all these titles," have a function but the church in America has gone through such a deep apostasy so when people of God get saved they are not stewarded well because they don't have good church systems set up in place. We can't cross reference chapter 4 with chapter 11 because he's talking about judgment in one chapter and a hierarchy in another chapter. You also have to understand the context of that time. Because he's also talking about customs in chapter 11 especially regarding hair. That's like saying a pastor with long dreads is biblically out of line because of his hair. Jeremiah 3:15 says that christ will pick our sheoherd to feed us with knowledge and understanding. The Bible tells us that spiritual leadership is responsible to be our examples and will be held accountable to for our souls through their teaching. A man qualifies as an elder in Titus 1 by learning how to live and lead a home. He had to get saved and learn how to be that through teaching and example. I cor. 11 he tells us

@@rayj.9568 being a covering (protector, defender and provider of spiritual food "feed my sheep") and a mediator are different things. Jesus is the only mediator between us and The Father. They either followed Him, or they didn't.

In Exodus 32 why does God converse with Moses concerning the wrongdoing of the children of Israel? Weren’t they His children? What was Moses’ role then that garnered God to speak to him and not to Aaron or to the people? Could it be possible that Moses looked upon by God as their covering?
How can spiritual coverings NOT be biblical -- isn't that "what" Paul was to Timothy?? Didn't he refer to Timothy as his "son" in the Gospel -- or something along those lines??🤔🤔
Can you have a spiritual father? 1 Corinthians 4:14-16 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition 14 I do not write this to shame you, but to warn and counsel you as my beloved children. 15 After all, though you should have ten thousand teachers (guides to direct you) in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the glad tidings (the Gospel). 16 So I urge and implore you, be imitators of me.
The title to this should be what is true biblical spiritual covering not spritual coverings are not biblical. Cause spiritual coverings are very much biblical but it all depends on how you define spiritual covering.

Um 🤔, I don’t know about this. When you use terms like “only accountable to God” then what’s the point of being apart of the body of Christ if everyone can just do the own thing and only answer to God?
@TheCaptain773 READ your Bible. Don't allow yourself to be bamboozled by the oral traditions of men! We are Co- laborers together in Christ! Lastly, give me a book, chapter, and verse supporting your theological position!

@@TheCaptain773Romans 3:19
Spiritual covering is both biblical and needed. Spiritual as in leader that is Spirit led and displaying fruit that will be held accountable for shepherding my soul…
Hebrews 13:17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.
@@tyquandoe3490 Exactly the scripture I was thinking of. Yes we are accountable to one another but we don’t have to give an account to God for one another…the pastor does for those God has placed in his hands. Look at Jesus’ prayer, did he not say he kept all (the disciples) that the Father gave him but only lost one? Spiritual authority is biblical. Just because some misuse it does not mean it’s not real.
Isn't this referring to governing authorities like the government, your boss etc.?
@ all authority. No distinction.
You are on the spot with this. This is an unbiblical practice or belief.
I've never heard of this. Thank you for talking about it.

Brother Corey I am thankful to the LORD for encouraging you to make this video. The church I attend was teaching that the Bishop is their spiritual covering. When I opposed the Bishop on the spiritual covering issue. This misinterpretation about “spiritual covering” has dangerously grown and causing confusion .
Grown confusion and spiritual abuse
I appreciate you covering this topic. I've always had questions regarding this and didn't find anything specific to how many people describe it. I appreciate prayers in general....but this, " a covering", seems to be another topic taken out of context in many instances.
Thank You Cory! Been saying this for some time now. But folk get real upset when u tell em this… That saying has been used largely as a “guerilla” control tactic by most Pastors.. Very crafty mind control, under the guise of spiritual submission!
What if she's unwed and never had a father? Who is to cover her? I've come to the conclusion that is Jesus. Amen
This is a great teaching pastor Corey 👏🏾
I still think all these scriptures in Paul's letters talking about a "woman" or "women" is speaking about wives, and not unmarried women. Just by the definition of "woman" in the greek.
I tend to agree with you
Yes accountable to each other. Not other people.
How can you be a spiritual covering … if you’re not a Spirit? MIMS
Paul called Timothy Son, even though he had a natural father. Elijah called Elisha father when he had a natural one.
I adore this channel so much God is great
I believe what shared here is ok.
Don’t agree with everything you say but you hit the nail on head on this one. Shalom Shalom .
I know a church where they have spiritual covering and the congregation calls the pastor and his wife "dad" and "mom". The pastor dictates if a member of his congregation can go to a family gathering, even special events like weddings, and even if the family is christian but does not belong to their church. Very sad.

I love this Corey. Jesus is my covering.
I don't find anywhere in biblical teaching. Yet all believers are under the covering of the blood.
Far too much of what calls itself Christianity has devolved into stupidstition and paganism.
Hey Corey I have also heard the term when someone has a their Pastors spirit that is not biblical as well
I Agree 100% MAN OF YAHWEH. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS 🎤🎤🎤‼️
God bless you brother
Thank you
I like the shirt Corey looks nice. 💪🏽 Keep preaching the word.
So what are the general boundaries of a pastor to the congregation?
Haven’t even finished the video but always hit the like button
Thanks Corey. I hope that more believers see that Jesus hates the teachings of the nicolatians, even He states this to the congregations in Revelation.
Jesus is the High Priest in the order of Melchizedek. Jesus is our covering and is at the right hand of the Father (authority/power) interceding on our behalf.
I Agree = We Have Christ
Amen and Amen!!!!!!!
This is heresy the five fold ministry has authority to those that are members. Christ is the head of all and his five fold ministry represents his authority.
I have a question. If women aren't to minister in church at all, who are they prophesying to? Do they receive prophesies only for women?
Brother Corey Minor,
Thank you for striving to be a balanced teacher!
Matthew 28:18-20 NKJV
[18] And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
