Something I haven't seen anyone do when testing the Mavic 3 Thermal is actually flying around testing the thermal camera capabilities. It would be hugely beneficial for us thermographers to see someone (controller view) go through all the IR camera settings, then fly around looking at stuff, especially in nadir orientation, to verify whether or not the IR camera can be flown in "manual" vs "auto" control (and here i mean camera control, not aircraft control). Thanks, and keep up the great work!
Another use case that I'm seeing is in grass fires. I'm part of a volunteer fire department in a rural community, and one of our biggest challenges is finding hot spots after we've put out a grass fire. A drone like this would be great to look over the entire burn area to see if there's going to be any spots likely to rekindle.
I recently purchased an m30t for myself. The original plan is to help inspection companies with taking proper footage in any weather, but I'll also be using that to volunteer for search and rescue orgs.
I was trying to find the best One Stop Shop for my business. I need it lidar. 3D mapping and topography search and rescue and inspections. The inspections are for solar and for the power company. And every time I ask Google if the m30t would be good for mapping or for inspections or for 3D is said it wasn't supported. I ended up having to buy the m300 rtk search and rescue package and then had to get a lidar camera. The m300 seems to be the platform for absolutely everything plus the camera that comes with it is absolutely amazing but the package was almost 30,000
So, it can fly in the rain without worry?
Our department just bought 2! Excited to get them up in the air and to help out the FD when the time comes.

Thanks for the review. We are still working on rules at work for our sUAS program. This model wasn’t on our list of considerations, but after this video, I think we definitely need to investigate further.
Thanks very much for this! Our volunteer lost dog team will be purchasing a couple of Mavic 3Ts. They will be invaluable for searching for dogs that are entangled by a dragged leash or incapacitated somewhere due to a medical condition. The price point was a major factor for us finally making the plunge into drone use.
I want to get a 3T for the exact same reason in southern California. I’m just trying to figure out what the demand is for this type of service in my area.

Hey Russ, Great TNL on Thursday. Really considering the M3T for my next drone.
I was watching "On Patrol Live" last night and a police department actually located a person at night in a field of tall growth using a drone. I never did see the actual drone but they did have a shot of the controller and it looked just like the Mavic 3 Enterprise controller. I can see how this drone can be of exceptional value for police departments. It can be deployed much faster to a scene than a helicopter.

I am a member of a search and rescue team in the mountainous region of Maine, and am considering getting a mavic 3 Thermal. I have a couple of quick technical questions.
1. Can the Mavic 3 be programmed to fly a grid pattern over a specified area, or is hands on piloting required? Can the drone be told to maintain 50' over canopy, while going up and down mountain slopes in a grid pattern?
2. Does DJI or any other company have software that can auto detect heat signatures of a certain heat range from a live feed? For example, the drone flies a grid, and when a human heat signature is detected by the camera, it will notify the operator? Or is this entirely up to the operator to pick out a heat signature from the screen?
3. When looking at the live screen while the drone is flying, is the isotherm scale adjustable, or only during play back? This is key for search and rescue to be able to pinpoint body heat signature vs. all the surrounding vegetation which in most cases is not the same temperature. The ability to have human body temperature color pop out on the live screen vs all other temperatures would be crucial.

After 6 years of volunteer work with my county search and rescue, working to develop the UAS procedures, training, and use cases, finally they said never will your team fly drones for search and rescue. Sad days. Been a remote pilot since exemption days. I don't fly too many commercial jobs, because I mostly teach Engineering and volunteer and my location just doesn't have much of a network for drones. Maybe I'll start my own Search and Rescue company if someone wants to help. ;)
Love the content! Appreciate all the info you share! Tbh, I would love to have a career in some line of drone work, but it seems like there’s no feasible start? Been flying for over 4 years now and building just as long, I love this hobby! To do it as a trade in some way would be really cool!
I would love the thermal one... I have a ranch with several thousand acres and finding livestock with a regular camera drone is often difficult..
..I can relate. We have just a few head here in central Texas, and finding them is extremely difficult in the best of times, especially younger calves.
If you own several thousand acres then I think this should be drops in the financial bucket
@samdavidson1838 Oh, I wish. I don't own thousands of acres. Most of the land I run livestock on is not my land. I just have grazing rights on, which I have to pay for. I'm not a big commercial rancher, so... I barely make any money after expenses. I still have to have a full time job in town to keep the lights on. It's not all glamorous and rich like you see on the show Yellowstone. Yes, there are ranchers like that but... they usually own other businesses that made them the millions.
I seriously wanted one for out here in central Texas..figuring once I went Part 107 I could do “something” with it..and IF NOT, I’d STILL HAVE IT regardless. But, it’s prohibitively EXPENSIVE for JUST a casual drone..
I would be more interested in a video covering the pilot 2 app and features like 3d mapping and thermal.

Do you think that the recent blacklisting by DoD is going to have a negative adverse affect on the sales of these DJI enterprise drones to public safety organisations for the fear of loosing any state/federal funding
Not for a long time. This is mostly for civil entities, not Federal use cases. But you never know if funding could be denied. It would be sad if they did. Politics should never take preference over human lives.
I'm watching the videos on the DJI Mavic 3T. I'm with an organization that does search and rescue. I have some questions. 1) If I deploy the drone into a concentrated area, am I able to live feed video or photos to an incident commander if I identify a person or object that I'm searching for? 2) Am I able to report location, such as the longitude and latitude? I understand there is a Beacon, does the beacon report the location of the drone to an incident commander or other persons?
I purchased a m3t and have both an air 2s and mini 3 pro. Mostly I have been doing work for companies like bees360 and dronebase. Any advice for stepping out of their shadow and into the world of inspections?
Can it still do mapping like the 3E? My company is looking into one for basic photography of bridge inspections, but also light mapping with photogrammetry. I've seen thermal used to detect cracks in bridge decks but I've read it's really only useful at certain times of day when temps are just right.
Recently retired FD and spent last 15 years in hazardous material response. I can see a real use for inspecting hazmat incidents without putting personnel in protective gear and possibly explosive atmosphere. To be able to launch a drone from 1k ft away and get a overhead view of an incident would be great. I wonder though how you get real time images or video to the decision makers on the scene. Would you need to record a flight, land, then get that memory card to a laptop at the command post? Depending on the incident the drone pilot may not be very close to the folks who need the video. Really interesting 👍
DJI Flight Hub allows real-time sharing. I did a demo of it in my M30T video earlier this year.

@51Drones my German Shepherd puppy ran away luckily for about a half hour. I think my community needs this. What do you suggest to do so I can ask my local fire station to consider. I'm not looking for any personal gains. I'm hoping to open one or two eyes. Such a small amount of $ for a department nowadays. The training will take someone pationate just like a K9.
In the area of roof inspections, which drone would you suggest? The 3E or the 3T? I am leaning towards the 3T for the thermal camera but I have no interest in working in public safety at this point. Would it be worth having the thermal camera for Commercial and Residential roof inspections, or is the 3E enough? Thanks for your input!

Running our own search and rescue S.W.A.R.M this really seems like a game changer as a all volunteer SAR. I haven’t looked at the price yet, agency vs volunteer always comes down to out of pocket budget.
Does this drone have the capability to zoom in on something (like a person) and see the GPS location so that could be relayed to rescue crews?

I would love to see a test at what distance you can see / distinguish a human body at using the thermal camera.
Going from m3 to m3t, i dont see where you can use the aux light function manually anymore. Is this to force buying of the flashlight?
Do you think you could work with Drone Supremacy to see the comparison of the 3D models the M3T puts out without the mechanical shutter? I would like to have the thermal capability but the 3D models are more valuable to me.
Has DJI announced when we can actually buy these? They are on their site but not available to actually purchase.

I would get the M3E for that. Better camera overall for higher detail.
Is the 3T and the Enterprise the same thing or different?
Does anyone have any experience of opening up the RC Pro controller and adding a pigtail for using an external antenna? I have lots of hills in my area and being able to get a little more altitude for my antenna would be of use. I'm aware of the potential line loss I would incur under such a setup, of which I think can be negated by keeping the run under 50ft and using a proper cable. I have a portable yagi antenna and a small line amp if needed. Has anyone attempted this before?
Does the 3T support follow me? Visual only or thermal too?
Is the Mavic 3T significantly quieter than the M30T? I have the M30T now but it is very noisy and spooks wildlife. I’m thinking about switching to the Mavic 3T if there is a noticeable difference that might be significantly less likely to spook wildlife. Thanks in advance
The only drone that wouldn’t spook wildlife is the Mini 3 Pro.

I don't believe so. I would head over to the DJI Forums and inquire on there. Someone usually answers within 24 hours.
@@51Drones thank you. I wish I would have known I need to buy a lap top and then video editing software for something you would think would work just like my other drone the Air 2s. Just don’t make any sense to me. I have searched all over the web to try to get an answer and there is zero on it. Not even a before you buy this drone video. I would have more than likely not gotten it had I known.
Use an Android phone that accepts MicroSD card, or use DropBox to auto sync files on your phone.

Would you say there would be a commercial avenue to operate as a contractor for F&R or other emergency services? Like you say, a drone at 5k-8k is a luxury but an hourly rate for a contracted pilot when required is a lot cheaper. Especially when you factor in the drone price, training time, hourly rate for the staff, maintenance etc.

DJI missed again on a S&R Drone. The outdoor application/capabilities could be of some use but not enough that I would spend public safety money own, not unless I had a surplus. I take it that you are not a firemen bc this would not fit in any firemen pockets. Good production- I will give you that. I’m hopeful DJI pays you- if they do, tell them they missed again.
