Indigo is an 11 month old wolfdog. After being purchased by a dog flipper, Indigo moved through 5 different homes before ultimately being hit by a car. She was left without veterinary care for a week, during which time she was unable to stand her foot was literally rotting away. After three weeks in the hospital and a metal plate implanted to keep her leg together, Indigo joined our family as our foster dog. I am watching this video with my wonderful black cat a few feet away. He was napping UNTIL he heard Indigo’s howl! He looked at me with a “What the hell was THAT???” look.
I’m really glad you are being very selective about who might adopt Indigo. Indigo is obviously a sweetheart who needs a LOT of activity, love and stability to be happy, and not every home is up to that responsibility. She looks like she’s off to a great start thanks to you and the other people who helped her.
I don’t know how her adopter could just sit by and watch as poor sweet indigo was in such pain. If I were that adopter, I would have gotten her to the vet faster than you could say “wolfdoggos are precious pups”
I totally agree. In fact this is cruelty. such a pretty beautiful puppy left in pain should be punished. Don't know the law in usa but here in germany the adopter would be punished.
Poor fur baby, glad that she is better now. How could anyone ignore such a sweet wolf dog in pain? Give her a pet from me please!
Such a troubling story for Indigo, but I'm very glad to see/hear that she's doing well.

I would like to see videos about the difficulties living with her. Is she living indoors? Maybe daily schedule when you have high-energy wolf-dog that needs much exercise and how much time that takes from the day.
+Iimakitus Eek I thought I replied to this already! I've been working on compiling clips of some of the difficulties. My biggest problem so far is that I'm not filming all the time, so when she does do something I have to either address and correct the behavior or go grab a camera. But I'm definitely working on a video for this, and I really appreciate the suggestion!
You figured out a way to avoid destroying everything and escaping? I had a wolfdog that died not long ago, she was 15...most amazing dog ever...ten times smarter than my Labrador
The escape issue we've found an answer for, destroying stuff we have a semi answer to but nothing foolproof. At the sanctuary we built enclosures wolves couldn't get out of so we just replicated that at our house. It's not pretty but who cares. We have 10 foot tall, 8 gauge chainlink fencing with a lean-in at the top and dig guard at the bottom. As for destroying stuff, exercise helps a lot. We go out for 2 hours each morning and another 45 minutes at night. Even still, we're on our third couch. As you know, they're not easy, but they're so worth it
@@SarahandtheWolves thanks for your videos I enjoy them a lot, mine looked just like yours....i will use your advice in the future...hopefully I will have time to adopt another in the next few years. For now I am enjoying getting my life back, as it belonged to my wolfdog Sasha for the last 15;)

What an irresponsible owner. To allow an animal to suffer with injuries like that makes me sick. That person who initially adopted Indigo should NEVER EVER be legally allowed to adopt or even own another animal of ANY kind ever again.

Look into Northern California... Lake County area has some cheaper land for sale. It is fire country and the last few years have been bad with fires. So that's something to consider. Another area with cheap land is Idaho. Cold winters, but the wolves would probably love that. lol
+UzeHerName Idaho is unfortunately notoriously anti-wolf. Someone suggested we look there, and it is absolutely beautiful and cheap but I don't think we'd ever truly feel the animals were safe. Cold winters are great, we were previously in Maine and the wolves thrived in winter (while I got frostbite on my toes indoors 🙄) so cold winters are actually a plus (although maybe not quite that cold lol). I'll definitely look into Lake County! The fires have been heartbreaking but unfortunately it feels like every place has its own possible natural disaster so we'll just have to be prepared.
I didn't even think of that about Idaho. Now that you mention that I do sort of recall talking to some people from Idaho and they truly hated and feared wolves. You won't find that in CA.. the opposite actually. Although there are strict laws for having animals like wolves or wolfdogs, but if you are willing to deal with CA red tape you could do it. Maybe Alaska? But you would probably have to deal with wolves and bears out there might be an issue. The fires out here have been insane. I live in the mountains in Northern California and we just got home this week from being evacuated for over a week due to the Atlas fire. I will say the down side to fires out here is out here our fire season is fall and we also get high warm winds during that time. We get what they call "fire storms". So please do really look into that before you consider this area. I don't want to set you all up for something that will turn out bad for you. What about states like Wyoming, Montana, etc.? Maybe same issue with people hating wolves? I hope you all can find land that works for what you plan to do.

I don't know why these people let her get into such a state.. I don't know much about wolves, but if I owned one, or a cross, I certainly wouldn't let its foot or anything get all infected... 😡
As for her personality... Well, ACTUAL wolves all differ, don't they, from what I've seen on UA-cam.. I would imagine that yours is very grateful to you and loves you... Why not keep her for ever?? As you say, with wolves, the pack loyalty is the main thing! ☺️👍
