Beta64 - Rhythm Tengoku / Rhythm Heaven GBA
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 сер 2024
- Before Rhythm Heaven and Rhythm Paradise released on the DS, there was Rhythm Tengoku for the Gameboy Advance. This game, despite never releasing outside of Japan, received a lot of love including a fan translation. But now that you're able to play some of these exclusive rhythm games in Megamix for the 3DS, I thought it was time to talk about the development of Rhythm Tengoku!
Enjoy!

Rhythm Heaven is such an underrated Nintendo franchise. I'm happy we were able to get localized versions for most of them.
Best rhythm game series ever *imo*. :3
Fizzy Note That's not an opinion, it's a fact.
Alttair22 That's not a fact, that's an opinion.
An opinion I agree with, but an opinion nonetheless.
TerraformTrent
That's not an opinion, that's a joke. A joke i agree with, but a joke nonetheless.

That's not a joke, that's a statement. A statement I agree with, but a statement nonetheless.

That's not a comment, that's a reply. A reply I agree with, but a reply nonetheless.
You might want to remake this episode, the rhythm heaven modding discord server found the debug menu and an unused sprite!
link me it! :(

They have done a bit more than that
YES! Thank you for this! I just got into Rhythm Heaven for the first time a few months ago with Megamix on 3DS, and holy crap have I been missing out! It's so fun!
I'm glad you're enjoying the series! It's sooooo good XD
isn't there a demo of it on the US eshop?
blueblur98 Yes there is. Highly recommend it by the way.
i'm gonna check it out when i get my 3DS fixed.
I had the DS game in 2013, but lost it. I bought it again though because since about September I've been really into the series again, which was good timing, as Megamix got released the next month here in the UK and about a week ago they released Fever on the Wii U eShop. As for this game I'm just using an emulator with the English fan patch. It's a great series.
RAH-RAH-SIS-BOOM-BA-BOOM
The Omnilution 2.0 It's up to you!
HEY YOU CAN DO!
The Omnilution 2.0 OK LET'S GO!
Erika Beatty YAY!
Lets everybody go!
It's great to see Rhythm Heaven get some more attention :)
It's finally nice to see the Rhythm Heaven franchise get noticed a bit more. As an early member of the fandom, I can safely say that the Rhythm Heaven series isn't all that popular, or even well known. It has a relatively small fandom, and it makes me happy to see the franchise get a little more recognition. I just hope it will get well known, so that way more people can experience it. Thank you for making the video.
I love the fact that the fandom isn't as toxic as some bigger fandoms.
cough cough *undertale* cough cough
that stick figure thing from 3DS sound was from ryhthm tengoku all along. you learn something new every day.
ACKCHUALLY it was from A gba application and he was called play-yan
After playing Megamix this is actually blowing my mind right now that so many games on there were from this. I seriously had no idea.
I just was wondering why the first Rythm Heaven was Japanese exculsive. This was well timed.
If you ever feel like playing it, there's a fan-translation out. It's not 100% complete, but it's definitely playable.
Beware emulator lag, however. It might ruin your sense of rhythm for a while, and you'll be early over and over again in other rhythm games.
Bought the game on my gameboy and easily cleared it as well as 100% it(except for those drumming lessons, pain in the arse). You don't need to worry about an English translation, the game is simple to understand.
There are a few very clear exceptions to that though: the soldier march minigame required you to understand the words for "march", "turn left" and "turn right". The Toss Boys game requires you to either know the words for yellow, red and blue or at least get accustomed to the cues for them. The Bon Dance game is initially difficult when you can't read along with the text because the claps may come very suddenly.
But yeah, otherwise, the series as a whole is fairly easy to understand without knowing Japanese! It IS that much more enjoyable when you do understand the text though. :)

Sorry
It was planned to release in North America in March of 2007 but due to a press conference that prevented the game's west releases, it didn't release in the US but the Marching Orders from Megamix were recycled from the GBA version into English
Same goes for the PAL version of Kirby's Dream Land 3 and the west versions of Animal Crossing 64 (or Animal Crossing e for GameCube)
I first discovered the dragon in a video where someone hacked the game and replaced the Tap Trial sprites with the Remix 7 sprites. Unfortunally I can't find this video anymore.
Some time later I poked around in an emulator's tile viewer and found the camel. At first I thought it was a weird dog.
Eventually I found that TCRF didn't have thouse unused sprites. So I ripped them myself and uploaded them. And it's great to see that you found my sprite rips on TCRF and used them in your video. It's like I contributed a little piece to this awesome video and it makes me happy that I could help.
Thank you! For your informative and entertaining videos.

Thank you for giving this series more attention!!!
OH MY SWEET LORD YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I LOVE RHYTHM HEAVEN if you make more of rhythm heaven beta64 please make it a full episode
Always love a developer who is incredibly passionate about their game
Really glad you mentioned the dancing lesson part! That was one of my favorite pieces of trivia related to Tengoku.

best video of all time!!!!
+Dylan Gates Why thank you Dylan! :D
Dylan Gates I've seen better on this channel
Not that this video is bad though ^^
Thank you for doing this mini for probably my favorite game of all time on the GBA
Just so you know, a Debug Mode savestate was uncovered recently for Rhythm Tengoku, look it up!
...WHAT?! LINK ME IT!
I would love to see that
It's always nice to see some Rhythm Heaven love on UA-cam
you're really amazing finding the betas on certain games! O:
There's actually footage of the game's devs dancing to the game's music in preparation for development. Very well done video as always. I imported this game about six years ago, and it will always be my favorite Rhythm Heaven game. Thank god for no region locking on the GBA.
Despite the numerous remakes and sequels the original version on the GBA will always be the one I love most
Excellent! Please talk about the other three games! Keep up the good work.
I love the Rhythm Heaven games, I even got Rhythm Tengoku all the way from Japan, also I was happy to see this video come out, good job
That dragon giraffe apeared in a Rhythm Heaven Feaver 2 player minigame later on the wii! Thats kinda cool
Luv this franchise💛
Thanks!! I luv the Rhythm Heaven series!!
Loving the minis
I understood that the idea or concept of game was Masami Yone who was also the main composer with TSUNKU in the first two installments, less in the last two (Wii and 3DS), in the last, Yone played the role of director, where he could do everything that could not be done in the previous entrances.
Not even you name it. :/
note: this is not the ture reason
the reason why rhythm tengoku was only release in japen was because it got release around the end of the GBA life cycle
Thanks man you got me to know what that weird arcad3 game I played was. Now I’m a huge fan
It's so impressive how fluent the animation is considering it's on the gba
One can only hope that they will one day think of releasing DLC for the Mega Mix that includes all the other minigames and remixes...
-Unless we hack it in first-
Rhythm Tengoku/Heaven: Exists
Sega: ARCADE TIME!
it seems i played the game way too much that my mind automatically adds the rhythm cues
3:53
Hello, samurai Sans
holy craaaap i thought rhythm heaven/tengoku was dead!!! i love rhythm heaven so much omg ♥♥♥
I was waiting for this game to be covered, I have all games, even the Japanese exclusive on my GBA. I perfected Megamix and Tengoku.
Makes this better because I got the game for Christmas
Another great video :) loved it
Is the stream for the Super Mario Strikers beta gonna be uploaded on the Beta64 Live channel?
Yep! In just a couple days. :)
THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS!
Aw, heck yeah! I absolutely adore this game!
how about more on all the rhythm heaven games?
man more Rhythm Heaven videos would be great
I lost my evidence but I swear, when I searched the game files, seeing PlayYan squat, a crab, and PlayYan reacting to a snake for Night Walk.
Yup, Crawl-Yan even became an inside joke on the discord server.
Do a Splatoon Beta video, there was so much cut content
I'm waiting for one to happen!
Guess What
Its a hidden GBA Gem. And the music is to kiss!
Your saying this game was originally attended to be released in America
thank you for doing this
My guess is that the giraffe was added later in development...
And if you know Tsunku and Hello Project, High five !
Guess we're not gonna talk about the debug menu then
This video was peobably made before the discovery of the debug menu
Currently renamed Rhythm Heaven Silver.
"A rhythm game without any sort of visual cues"
COUGH
COUGH SPACE CHANNEL 5
COUGH COUGH
Hey beta64 I would like to make a suggestion for a future video. I think you should do a beta64 mini episode on destiny. The game changed a lot during development so if there is enough information, maybe a full beta64 episode? I would love to see this because I want to know more about what happened to the game before it's beta and before release. All the best
SPART323/judge pootis
My favorite game of all time!!!
I wish that Remix 5 had a giraffe near the end
I mean... They almost added it into ds. There's a lot of unused tengoku stuff in Ds apparently.
You know, if you have a DS and Rhythm Tengoku, you can place the game at the bottom of the DS, then play it on the DS.
I actually have this game; I managed to snag one on Amazon
Turtleneck, Ditzy-down, pah-pah-pah puuuuuunch! - Space Dance Guys
Because of my poor internet up here, this is going to take WAYY longer than 8 minutes.
You should do the beta of Paper Mario Sticker Star. That would be awesome since it's beta was better than the actual version.
the camel is actually a llama!
Holy shit, he took *energy drinks*!? Total maniac!
it's for Turbo Tap Trial
I don't like how that giraffe is looking at me
*the fails on these clips are too much for my rhythm taste*
*but the facts are wanting me*
Now we need a beta 64 of rythim heaven DS then fever (Wii)
Also is just me or the Arcade versions of the game shows a more fluid frame rate than their handleheld counterparts? i mean of course they have more frame rate because is not the same an arcade cabinet to an Nintendo DS even if the DS has game with mayor frame rate present.
GBA has a refresh rate of 59 megahertz, arcade is possibly 60.
The Giraffe is slowly stealing your soul
~Attacks ghost with arrow beat to beat~
Can you make a FULL Beta64 episode of Rhythm Paradise for the Nintendo DS?
Never played a one of these Rhythm Paradise Games before, should I check it out? And if so: which one first?
Will you ever make a Beta64 video on all the rhythm heaven games?
its all I ever wanted
Do final Fantasy vs. 13 / Final Fantasy 15. :)
There was a huge shift in development.
Great video
Maybe this is the worst viewed B64 Video of all time.
Sora Aoki Actually it his battle zone interview

Whats your next beta vid gonna be about, in my opinion you should do a pokemon game :)
Bah! Screw Metroid and F-Zero, I want more Rhythm Heaven games!
"Bunny hop", is this a hl2 reference
Anyone realize how many Goku's are in the title?

Korean Wii Rhythm Heaven Fever

And i was so excited when i saw the title.
The giraffe is there in beat the beat
