I like keeping all my different types of videos in one place because it's really convenient for me, but I recognize that not everyone who shares one of my interests is likely to share ALL of my interests. 9:50 It actually may be a result of how the original songs for Rhythm Tengoku are fully composed, but they had to be super-compressed and arranged down to the GBA's sound card. Once the Wii and 3DS versions of these games came out, they just used the original music tracks. (I believe that the arcade version of Rhythm Tengoku used the original music tracks as well)
I suspect it might be a framerate difference indeed. A performance issue is possible, but unlikely. It's more likely to be directly related to a hardware difference. The exact refresh rate of the GBA's screen is 59.73 hz If the 3DS has displays that actually hit 60 hz precisely (or very close to it) Then running code that's framerate linked on a 3DS will mean the GBA code is running at 99.55% of the speed of the same code running on 3DS. This isn't directly tied to performance of the processor; rather it's caused by syncing to the display refresh rate. Obviously the exact rate of slowdown depends on what the precise framerates are. This was a semi-regular problem on TV based consoles due to the fact that NTSC refresh rates are 59.97 hz While PAL is 50 hz exactly. And that's obviously a much more dramatic change. The posterchild for this is Sonic - both because the gameplay slowed down, but also because the music did too. (later games such as Sonic 2 fixed the music, but the gameplay is still slower.) The SNES doesn't get music slowdown because it's Audio CPU runs on a completely independent clock, thus changes to the rest of the system don't do anything to audio playback. But games do still slow down unless they're tweaked with this in mind. Sometimes they were, much of the time they weren't. One known example of a game where the internal timing was changed correctly is Mario Kart - this game runs at exactly the same speed on PAL and NTSC. (Obviously the PAL version has a lower framerate - but all the timing of everything is still the same.)
It feels more likely that it's just how the songs are stored. In the GBA version, they're basically just midis. So they might not be the "correct" speed. In fact, alot of them are a different tempo compared to the OST release. And Megamix uses the OST versions for most songs (Bunny Hop and Rat Race are the exception, for gameplay reasons), which is why the tempo is different.
I feel like sneaky spirits actually lost a good amount of personality just in how the ghosts move In the GBA, they bounce up, then gradually accelerate down, which makes it fit with the swing melody a lot better. While in Megamix, they just kinda pop in and out a lot more suddenly, it looks less like bounces and more just slightly shifting to the right

I think this is the first time I've heard the Rat Race music by itself. I like it; it feels very "Tom and Jerry"! The other music (Quiz Show aside) is good too, of course, but none of it was good in such a _specific_ way.
Minor change with Karate Man: In the GBA version, when the Flow gauge is filled up enough, Karate Joe will use his right hand to punch everything (hence he has enough power/flow to punch the heavier rocks). In the 3DS version, with the absence of flow, he'll continue to punch the plant pots with his left hand.
the worst part in marching orders (or as it's actually called in tengoku, marchers) is that in megamix he says "go!" and in tengoku he says something closer to "forward march!"
The turnips' eyes slowly grow bigger for each hair you pluck out in Megamix. The people that dance in Power Caligraphy now have a whiter skin tone than the GBA version

The Segment at the end in Marching Orders is slightly longer
The Circles in the background of Cosmic Dance are white instead of yellow
22:01
"basically everything is the same here"
The background: Am I a joke to you?
"the void but purple" honestly
Can I just say:
for bouncy road, hearing the cymbal crash for every time a ball gets to the end instead of when the section ends in feels wrong
19:36 acctually sound kinda good
imagine the tap trial 2 one became a real rhythm heaven game OH N-
the intro of The Snappy (and probably the first one) Trio has the Trio Timing sign come down from the upper side of the screen in Megamix, in Tengoku it just fades from black to the game.
also the lions are happier in megamix
wait did i hear "bonjour" in ninja bodygaurd
The 2nd 2 ball near the end sounded so perfect
i managed to find gba, wii, and megamix version of power calligraphy in korean and couldnt find any differences
The new Clappy Trio also smiles more than before.
i was expecting the sneaky spirits one to keep getting more and more out of sync honestly lmao
Everyone say thank you jan for feeding my hyperfixations.
Also 19:40 it actually starts to sound kinda cool before devolving into shit like thirty seconds later
Omg there was a lot of difference in Tap Trial! It caught me off guard lol
you didn't mention that in spaceball, the screen zooms out more than in GBA
I think this is the first time I've heard the Rat Race music by itself. I like it; it feels very "Tom and Jerry"! The other music (Quiz Show aside) is good too, of course, but none of it was good in such a _specific_ way.
8:35 Just don't mess up that part, *otherwise it would be a REALLY funny picture*
5:36 Have you tried the Wii version? I compared the Wii version and the GBA version and confirmed that it was perfect.
(However, both use software released in Japan.)
17:44 : *BANANA IN PJ THEME SONG??!???*
Cool video, I remember the game when I had an GBA, Good memories :')
SOMETHING'S GOT TO GIVE
what do you think of similar big rhythm games, like osu or space channel 5 or rhythm thief? :D
I love rhythm games, but there's nothing like rhythm heaven
Conlang Critic, that is true
*4:52*
Bunny Hop, but it sounds like it's being played in an empty underground parking lot
Karate Joe also uses his left hand for pots in the 3DS version instead of using the right hand for the GBA version
Something you forgot is that in Rhythm Tweezers, the transition from vegetable to vegetable is SLIGHTLY earlier in GBA than in 3DS.
Where's the Doctor Bacteria game-minigame at? I mean, it is in both versions of the game, so...
megamix endless games don't count
Megaminx endless and all Rhythm Heaven minigames differences when then? Haha just kiddin
Unless... (shy face)
the worst part in marching orders (or as it's actually called in tengoku, marchers) is that in megamix he says "go!" and in tengoku he says something closer to "forward march!"
The turnips' eyes slowly grow bigger for each hair you pluck out in Megamix.
The people that dance in Power Caligraphy now have a whiter skin tone than the GBA version
One thing about the whisker pulling... The eyes get bigger with each pull while GBA stays static.
Ah yes, music. The universal language (unless aliens don't have hearing)
[Edit]
I apologize for any discomfort caused by my insensitivity towards those with hearing impairments. I vow never to make such a dumb mistake again. I will never make fun of those with impairments of any kind, whether intentionally or unintentionally. Thank you for your kind understanding.
you know that there are humans who don't have hearing right
O great Conlang Critic, I have issued my apology. Please forgive me.
Wait! HOLD UP!
in Ninja Bodyguard, if you complete the practice (3DS), the same cutscene will show!
unfortunately, I couldn't find anyone who uploaded footage of them actually doing it with the practice mode and I don't have a 3ds capture card so :/
:/ oh well. Atleast the remastered cutscene is in our hearts.
@@dashydesu :/ (UWU) oh wow
I think tap trial, the clappy trio and sneaky spirits are ported from fever
What I will never understand is why they made the lower res video larger.
if I made them both actual size the gba footage would be way too small, so I made the word gba footage twice as big instead
Ngl that Tap Trial music was awesome
i remember now why the hell i recognized your name but now that i know you're gonna do rhythm heaven stuff i might as well subscribe after all, since your conlang stuff is also interesting
In Rhythm Tweezers, I think you forgot to mention that they switched the radishes(?) our for potatoes
2:15
Oop. Sorry D: guess I just missed it. I should have fact checked
How about part 3 like rhythm heaven fever games in megamix comparison video?
Is "Turbo tap Trial" a synonym for *_suffering?_*
In the rhythm tweezers, another notable difference is that the eyes slowly grow bigger
Is there many particular changes between the Wii version's extra game versions and the 3DS versions? They seem pretty much the same, but just curious
8:28 The little kids appearances are different! The girls have bangs.
1:40 I love that part that is fast
Why does it feel like this video is an arg clue?
there is absolutely no way that one of my fav creators actually has 2 niche common intrests with me
Some games:Slighty faster
Night Walk:
SLIGHTY SLOWER
In GBA Tap Trial the hair moves, on 3DS it doesn't?
my fave conlang tbh
Things I noticed in tap trial: the girls posture is different, the giraffe looks different and the monkeys are smaller, that's all it is
The Reason Why megamix spaceball waited at the start was becuse the fact that There's a mini tutorial at the start of gba that requierd you to hit 4 balls in a row to proceed.
man . imagine trying to play some of these at the same time .
21:11 Every single music cutoffs in songs be like:
