I wish you guys would return to the WRX hatch (+6 spd. manual) and the Baja, you’re losing money not acting on this trend.

got my 2024 Solterra 2 months ago and I am so disappointed on the charging time. from 5% to 100% took me 2 DAYS and 4 HOURS . I was promised a level 2 charger free to be installed by dealer salesman but never materialized when I got my Solterra. Accede to dealer, it was an old offer from the 2023 Solterra. There is no rear windshield wiper w/c makes visibility zero on rainy days. very dangerous.I live in Chicago so I dread the coming of winter using this vehicle. Not recommended.

They recommend not fully charging to 100%, charge to 80-85% unless you're going on road trips. And not letting it get under 30%. Doing that just prolongs battery health and cuts down on charging times. My Solterra when I charge to 80% gets me around 215 miles of range and lasts me a full week to a week and a half!

How sad is it that an official Subaru channel posting a new video about the updated 2024 model recycles old content to pass incorrect information to potential customers. The Solterra now comes with a "dual level" charging cable to provide either level 1 (120 volt) or level 2 (240 volt) charging without the need to purchase additional products (other than possibly the installation of a new outlet where you want to charge). At least the DC Fast Charge time/speed was updated to the new "potential" time of 35 minutes, though I have yet to see any evidence of this charging speed being a reality from any 2024 owners online.

thank you for an honest observation. I too was scammed into leasing a 2024 Solterra with the "fast charging" sales line. Not true at all.

Is it safe to charge outdoors even when it's raining?

If it wasn't, I would go to the mall parking lot in the rain to watch Teslas explode.

Lol it doesn't even know when you are using your home charger or not. My Bolt can even do that

My goodness. Still pushing that DC fast charging time myth even as MotorTrend in their review of the 2024 Solterra showed it to be false already. No shame.

Just to complete that thought, the article stated:
      - 45 minutes from 5 to 80 percent (81 kW peak)
      - 32 minutes from 49 to 80 percent (43kW peak)
Though they didn't state what the temperature was like when they were charging, there is an image of the car showing 63 degrees outside, so there was probably some battery conditioning happening at the beginning of each charge (Toyota/Subaru doesn't let you precondition the battery to swap some range for faster charging times).
Additionally, Toyota's charging logic seems to always stretch out the charging session to the minimum advertised length (35 minutes, and about an hour for 2023 models) regardless of when you plug in. So that 49% to 80% time was heavily throttled just to make it take as long as possible. So even though the hardware id perfectly capable of charging the car faster, instead of providing any kind of convenience to the customer, Toyota decided to prioritize reducing the charging speed wherever possible.
Any charging on a DC Fast Charger beyond 80% (like to get to the next charger on a road trip) will likely be slower than plugging into a Level 2 charger.

@@default7950 Yep. It's frustrating to loyalists that Subaru is hamstrung on the EV side by their Toyota partnership since Toyota couldn't care less about EV's. I bet Subaru comes out with a great hybrid though. Shocker. It's fine but stop pushing false marketing. There are people pulling up to fast chargers for the first time thinking something is wrong with their car. 😂

I absolutely HATE that I made this mistake as well. Horrible decision. Stay far away from this turd of a car.
