As a catechumen in the Holy Orthodox Church one observation I have made and something I truly love about the Orthodox Church is that every priest I have met in person and every priest and monk I’ve watched on UA-cam just exudes so much love and kindness it is unreal. I truly feel like all priests and monks are like a true father to me on earth and I pray to God to have just a tiny amount of the love of fellow man and of God that all the Fathers have.
It's one of several reasons that I adore the Orthodox Church. I'll be baptized on August 3. I pray that I will gain the holiness of our spiritual Fathers and Mothers. If you ever get the chance, visit a monetary. I learned so much from the monastics, and will be making more Pilgrimages as often as I can. Welcome Home and blessings. ☦️
Same here, I met Father Yaroslav at the Russian Orthodox Church in Chiswick London, he was very peaceful, listened to me patiently, and spoke quietly and simply I never met such a priest
Really looking forward to this since I saw the notification yesterday! I was an occult practitioner and believed in different kinds of aliens and ghosts. I will however be baptized into the Church within a few weeks! I’ve left it behind as much as I know. It will be good to receive the Orthodox perspective on this to “tighten any loose ends” lest I be offending God in regards to this. Thank you so much.
I actually came to Orthodoxy through the sort of gnostic-theosophic-platonic traditionalism online info movements. It was a good learning experience for me, but ultimately I found the Truth through Orthodoxy that showed me the heretical views I was interested in. Thank you Lord.
I finished The Ladder of Divine Ascent again and made an outline summarizing the steps. That way I can work on those things I'm the weakest. Those items I'm weak on in no particular order are: Step eleven - Controlling my tongue. Step thirteen - Defeatism. Step 14 - Don't over eat. Step 21 - Courage. Step 26 - Knowing myself.
Thank you Fathers for this edifying and fascinating discussion. This information is more important now than at any other time. While it's helpful to us faithful, I imagine it would make a big impact to those outside and looking in. Glory to God! 🙏☦️
I’ve witnessed things in my life that I would flatly call demonic. But the demons erred; they sought to turn me away from Christ. But them making themselves known to me only drove me deeper into Christ’s arms. God bless you all. And never fear them, they are already defeated by Christ Jesus.
All I know is in the beginning it's exciting and interesting but later you realise you opened the door to evil and gave them permission to enter your life and torment you!!!!! Years and years later I'm still struggling.dont get fooled thinking it's innocent. I won't read even horoscopes anymore
Father, I am an Amazon delivery driver and I have listened to Matt Walsh daily for news of the world for over two years. Please be assured that his apparent belief in UFOs is a long running joke. Matt has an *extremely* dry sense of humor and he loves playing deadpan. His "belief" in UFOs is an ironic affectation. He definitely does not take this phenomenon seriously and I believe that this joke of his arises from an observation that people are astonishingly credulous on such flimsy evidence. I have never seen any UFO "evidence" that wasn't either a fake or an artifact of imperfect technology. He is mocking UFO believers with an exaggerated enthusiasm and seriousness.
A protestant here and really appreciate the clear messaging you give. There is so much walk in the weeds on this topic. Have not seen anything else from you so far, but this inspires to see more. Clear teaching is what people respect.
I think Father Heers forgot to do his punk scene homework. I was expecting more discussion about the nihilism/anarchy/chaos aspect of the punk rock scene in the 80's and 90:s, instead of the more esoteric occult.I really appreciate Father Valdez because I was a punk back in the 90's in Denver and we would grab every zine we could at places like Tower Records when we weren't skating. I had developed the hopelessness of the 80's regarding nuclear war with the USSR and no chance of ever being rich or successful. Thanks to both of you.
My Father is now retired and spends much of his waking hours reading and watching programs about "UFO's & E.T.'s". I see it as a form of escapism, and also to perhaps deal with a degree of boredom since retiring. He is not a practicing Orthodox Christian (he was baptized as a child, but, was always more of an agnostic, unfortunately). I have told him my thoughts about this fascination of his, in line essentially with this video but have been dismissed out of pocket, his reply being "I don't want to hear about that". I pray that there is some way to show him about this deception he has fallen under. Any constructive comments are welcome.
I think people into this stuff wont react positively if you try to reason with them from a religious standpoint. For a short period of time I also was fascinated with aliens. What really convinced me to abandon these beliefs was 1) Faith. But since your dad seems to not belive in God 2) Arguments such as: >the gov't knows and hides that aliens exist supposedly. Why then the subject is promoted in so many movies. Why are there so many shows like "Ancient Aliens" etc. The gov't is clearly connected to the media so why would they allow this to be out there. >Why are aliens always presented as superior beings to humans who usually want to destroy or help society (just like angels or gods of ancient Greece and Rome)? >Is it really logical to think that this beings observe us for thousands of years and they don't contact us frequently. Why even observe us and not get in touch? (Or get in touch 4000 years ago and that's it) To destroy us? Why? It sounds like a Star Wars plot honestly. >If our leaders lie about them consistently, wouldn't they want us to know who they really are? >Given the modern technology, can we be sure that any photos or videos of aliens captured aren't fake? >Doesn't it seem like the gov't waited for this technology to be developed and only then "credible" rumors of aliens existing started to resurface?>Why is there a particular picture of aliens drilled into human subconscious? >Why aliens only became a thing when people stopped being religious on a macro scale? Sorry for being a little chaotic but I hope this helps. God bless ❤
i was really fascinated with the ufo/extraterrestrial phenomenon from an early age, believing it to be truth. after i converted im still interested in it, but now its more fascinating as an occultic social phenomenon-studying it as one would study a deranged cult. its in no way benign. perhaps your father will make that transition as well. maybe it would help him to see how many of these people within the movement are grifters and liars. for example Dr Steven Grier or David Wilcok. or the lies of Bob Lazar. the youtube channel Truth Seekers with Steven Cambian is devoted entirely to exposing these lies. he does great work and the channel,is small enough that Steven is accessible. Lord have mercy on us all.
There are Christian guys who discuss UFO's-L. A. Marzulli, Timothy Alberino, Billy Crone. A Catholic guy called Daniel O'Connor. I am a Evangelical Christian and have nearly 200 UFO books-I was raised with it. I know they are from the dark side-but it is still fascinating. He can still study it-and come to the truth. 🛸
Having an Orthodox spiritual father in the US today is very difficult, as there are so few. I would also disagree with the use of the phrase "push you" in the right direction. I think pushing only leads to resistance. Show me the way, lead me on the correct path. Those are unassailable methods that can be rejected, but are true leadership.
I was in the straight edge hardcore scene in Highschool. Most of us didn't stay that way but some did. We had other vices though, believe me. It was a positive scene, but it wasn't at the same time. Actually, we would look for reasons to fight. I couldn't go to a show back when without one of us getting into a fight with someone over something stupid. A lot of anger in that scene. We had bands tell us to stay away from drugs and alcohol and to be smart but at the same time telling us to crack people over the heads. Looking back it did more harm than good. This was in the 2000s-2010s though. We just had so much built anger. Wearing shirts like "rob/k*ll your local drug dealer" lol. We were very intemperate kids.
Father John is way cool! At 52, I'm an old punk myself. Have that inner, secular rebellion but am no longer a nihilist. Orthodoxy and Christ are completely anti-secular and a true rebellion.
I'm ortodox but I would advise for you to look into what Dr. Steven Greet has to say, he's been on this for 30 years and almost died because of it. The alien trial was live under oath in America and that's his course of action. He's pushing for disclosure, but idk, I'm skeptical but I'm interested into seeing what happens.
Greer is a channeler. He's a prime example of a rational, well educated and science minded person who's become an occultust after becoming a UFO researcher. He espouses making contact with "et's" through telepathy and has organized hilltop events for group telepathy to try to make contact.

Not all Orthodox priests or monks are good. You’ll learn about that when reading the lives of the Saints.
Unfortunately one of apostles was a betrayal. Unfortunately it still happens. Just be aware.
